Pyre's father was out of the locality. Going to Scotland to be precise.
It was a 450-mile journey, but the job was well worth the effort. Not that he had never been there to work.
Although this time it would be for a long time. He was in for a three-month job, and he was to earn 12 pennies a day there.
(previously stated that he was employed for as much money as he could buy a big loaf of bread once every 2 days. That is ~ 8 pennies (I am being generous)
Keeping the fare of the rail in mind, this was a big deal for his family.
But the train fare was nothing to scoff at. 76 pennies for London to Scotland? like hell, he had that much in his pocket... so Pyre's dad did what most would do in his position.
He hid on the train. Above it. On thee roof

In a desolate office, was a clever-looking wizard, with black hair, "shrewd, narrow" eyes, a pointed beard and thin eyebrows, wearing green and silver colors as his whole apparel.
An Owl entered through the window above, dropping a Hogwarts acceptance letter on his head.
Phineas grabbed the falling letter before it touched the ground, surprised.
'We do not have any new Black first years. Why is this sent to me then?'
Normally, the head of noble houses received the Hogwarts letter, so it was strange that the headmaster receive an admittance letter
He opened the red wax seal of the letter.
And it was clear that it was not for someone who bears a Black surname, but a muggle-born, with enough magic that the book of acceptance deemed it to be the responsibility of the headmaster of Hogwarts only.
'A mudblood? Blessed with magic enough to require my assistance? That's new.' And it was indeed surprising. Mudblood was a strong word but muggleborn students were accepted in Hogwarts, more so for their transition to the magical world, usually a professor delivered the letter themselves, while introducing them to magic.
But a student that required the headmaster to visit him? that was an unusual request made by the Quill and the Book.
He put the letter into his coat pocket to rise and walk away from the work he had been doing.
*Fsslurp* Blades of white engulfed the Hogwarts headmaster, rotating around him to leave nothing.
The man is moved outside the office, in the air as can be seen from the window of the seventh floor.
He starts to fall down, reading the address on the letter.
And just when he was to touch the ground, the white blades emerged anew, circling around to vanish the man from existence from Hogwarts airspace.
