Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: The Demon Unchained

Yuri's business had been doing well over the past two years. For someone in his line of work, all the turmoil was like a grand opening announcement. Yuri's business started with just him and his younger brother Vitali, but now he could afford to pay for a whole ship.

Yuri was in dire need of money. Of course, it wasn't due to any peculiar habits; his problem was women. Well, in terms of addiction, there wasn't much difference between the two. That particular woman made his heart ache.

Muggles couldn't force someone to love them, but money could effectively close the gap between two people. When the distance closed, so did the opportunities.

It was a very cliché story. Mrs. Eva received a business collaboration offer that invited her to an island for a photo shoot. The payment was generous—twenty thousand pounds. However, upon her arrival on the island, the photographer naturally stood her up. To make matters worse, the next available flight off the island was on Tuesday.

But Miss Eva was lucky. She encountered a kind-hearted tycoon who generously offered his private plane to fly the beautiful lady back to London.

The plane, the car, the suit—everything was rented by Yuri. The most successful relationships often started with lies and deception.

On the plane, the tycoon accidentally discovered that he and Miss Eva were actually from the same city!

In the end, the lovely Miss Eva and Yuri, engaged in international shipping, got together. The two moved into the most luxurious house in London. The crystal chandeliers alone cost tens of thousands of pounds, almost draining Yuri's assets. He carried a high mortgage, used credit cards to pay off other cards, all to maintain Eva's lifestyle.

Eva keenly sensed something, but she chose to accept it.

On Christmas Eve of '91, they had a son. There was also an unexpected surprise, a gift from a man with a map on his head. Yuri received the best Christmas gift.

He passionately kissed the greasy bald head on the screen, possibly with more fervor than when he kissed his wife.

Yuri quickly calmed down. He told his father that he wanted to go back and visit his Uncle Dimitri.

"I'm not a fool. Are you going back to sell Pepsi?" His father flatly refused; he didn't want to be the intermediary between Yuri and his brother.

"I actually want to sell pizza," Yuri glanced at the map-headed man repeatedly played on the news, "I want him to endorse it for me."

While booking the plane tickets, Yuri's eyes also glanced at a white pigeon in his house. It had been eating free meals at his place for months; it was time for it to work.

So, Tom received a letter during lunch. Mr. Granger was waving the newspaper excitedly, "The Evil Empire, the Cold War, it's all over! Damn!"

Mr. Granger, usually very gentle, unexpectedly swore.

"This is a good thing, isn't it?" Hermione was somewhat happy. After all, in her education environment from childhood to adulthood, the red bear was always the villain. Now that the terrifying bear was dead, shouldn't they clap and celebrate?

Mr. Granger fell into silence, and after a few seconds, he said with bitterness, "It's a good thing for Americans, not for the British... heh..."

Hermione was a bit puzzled: Great Britain and the United States were allies; shouldn't this be a good thing? "Birds are exhausted, a good bow is hidden; cunning rabbits die, and running dogs are cooked," Tom summed up the relationship between Britain and the United States.

"Great Britain is no longer the Great Britain of forty years ago. After the only country on Earth that could balance the United States disappears, it will reveal its true evil nature. The demon is unleashed."

If there was anyone who didn't want the bear to die, it would undoubtedly be the British. After all, with the death of the bear, those little lackeys who followed the United States would lose their utility. They would transform from allies into leeks.

The dining table suddenly became very quiet.

"Well, this is not something a little dentist like me should worry about. That's it..." Mr. Granger sighed and changed the topic, "There's a pigeon outside the window."

Tom took a look: Isn't that my pigeon?

He opened the window, and the pigeon flew in. Tom received a letter from its foot. He opened the letter, carefully reading it.

"Who wrote you a letter? Is it Christmas greetings?" Hermione was curious about the contents of the letter. She stretched out her neck to take a look, but then realized that this seemed to be a private letter, and she shouldn't do that.

Tom folded the letter, and just as Hermione hesitated, Tom had already finished reading it.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Granger, but I have something to do, and I need to leave for a while." Tom had made a decision.

"What's wrong? Is there anything we can help you with?" Mr. Granger straightened up and asked with concern.

"Nothing much, just a little sideline business." Tom smiled in response.

Things were not complicated. Yuri wrote to Tom, asking if he wanted to go with him to Ukraine for a business trip, to meet his uncle Dimitri. Tom just needed to follow him. Yuri saw Tom as having significant utility value.

...

A day later, the two were already on the land of Odessa, Ukraine. Tom looked at Yuri chatting with his uncle, slowly tearing down his psychological defenses, and ultimately decided to open the warehouse one by one, letting his lovely nephew help him "dispose of" tons of arms.

Fresh meat doesn't attract just one fly.

Yuri and Tom stood on the tower of the military camp, watching Uncle Dimitri and another old man chatting. The drivers of the two were standing not far away, with cigarettes in their mouths.

The driver of the old man took out a strangely shaped lighter, looking more like a small stick. Anyone wouldn't believe it was a lighter, but General Dimitri's driver accepted this absurd fact—confundus charm was indeed a good thing.

Tom observed everything.

"Well, it looks like I really have something to do." He hurriedly walked down the tower.

"Soul Out!"

Years of battle instincts made General Dimitri notice the abnormality of the "driver," but he was old, and he couldn't avoid this curse. His mind went blank, with only one voice speaking to him: Kill Yuri!

"But Yuri is my nephew." Dimitri instinctively retorted, but the voice became louder: Kill Yuri!

The voice repeated, growing louder, and Dimitri eventually accepted the suggestion. Just as he was about to return to the camp to take action, the fog in his mind dissipated, and he could think independently again.

"What just happened?" He was shocked. Did he really want to kill his own nephew? Was he insane?

But the smell of blood brought him back to reality. The man who wanted to discuss business with him had driven away, and his driver was lying in a pool of blood, with a beautiful red and gold bird standing beside him.

Dimitri watched the bird pick up a small stick-shaped thing from the

ground, spread its wings, and flew away. Meanwhile, his nephew ran over a minute later. He looked at the man on the ground, who had lost the ability to resist. There was no emotion in his eyes.

The man's body flowed into the Black Sea through the Dniester River, and his head was burned to ashes and buried in the back mountain. Tom and Yuri embarked on their way home.

Tom's Christmas vacation still had a week left.

On the plane, he checked the relics left by the mysterious man: a wand, a pack of cigarettes, a money pouch, and a notebook.

Tomorrow is the midnight gacha, good luck to everyone, may you get gold in the ten consecutive pulls.
