Chief Poop Scooper, literally understood, is the person who takes care of a pet's daily life and helps clean up after them. Of course, different animals have different names for their caretakers; for a Thestral, it could be called a Thestral Tender.

Tom was Norbert's chief poop scooper.

However, as glamorous as raising a dragon might sound, it was actually quite painful. While getting scratched by a cat or a dog might not be a big deal, being bitten or scratched by a dragon meant a trip to the infirmary. Ron had an unfortunate encounter while feeding Norbert; his right hand was bitten, and the next day it swelled up, oozing green pus.

What was more troublesome was that dragons breathe fire. When Norbert was born, it was like a dragon-shaped lighter, but as it grew, the flames upgraded from a lighter to a gas stove. If you didn't dodge a dragon's breath, a large area of skin would be burned.

In addition, Norbert was overly aggressive, hyperactive, and excessively curious, making its care increasingly difficult. Hagrid, with his large heart, overlooked Norbert's obvious mischievous side, often saying the classic line: "It's still a child!"

As Norbert grew, so did its appetite. In the first week, it only drank a bit of brandy mixed with chicken blood, but later it started eating large pieces of meat. Its diet was diverse, ranging from dead mice to fish from the Black Lake; it accepted everything.

Norbert's eating habits were interesting. While most animals prefer raw food, it made sense for Norbert, as a fire-breathing dragon, to cook its food. Since it roasted a mouse with a breath of fire, it opened up a new world for itself, delighting in barbecue every day.

Tom, upon discovering this trait, had a brilliant idea. For the next few meals, he provided Norbert with seasoned barbecue, winning its favor. Soon, Norbert no longer liked raw meat.

However, after falling in love with barbecue, Norbert didn't move much—an advantage. It would just sit by the fireplace, waiting for Tom or someone else to feed it, almost without moving a muscle. Tom even suspected that if you stuck six pillars around Norbert in the morning, it might still be in the same circle in the afternoon.

Fresh meat is easier to digest than raw meat, and with reduced activity, Norbert surprisingly gained weight. The originally shriveled dragon transformed into a plump form, commonly known as "baby fat."

Of course, although Norbert became a bit of a homebody, it still had a big temper. Whenever the food was insufficient or didn't meet its taste preferences, Norbert would directly spew flames. Tom tolerated it at first, considering Hagrid's face, but after being hit by dragon breath several times, even a mud man had his limits, especially since Tom's tolerance for mischievous children was limited.

So, Tom decided it was time to educate this chubby dragon. It was time to help Hagrid discipline this fat dragon.

...

The sun shone brightly, and Norbert was taking a nap. Suddenly, its fleshy hind legs twitched, and the chubby dragon woke up from its dream. It calculated the time and realized that the chief poop scooper hadn't brought its meal yet. Enraged, it snorted two plumes of thick smoke from its nostrils.

Upon seeing the familiar figure, it unleashed a thick dragon breath, easily dodged by the chief poop scooper. Then—

"Lumos Solem, Aquamenti, Petrificus Totalus!"

Tom performed a three-in-one spell combo, first dazzling Norbert's eyes with a light spell, then splashing its face with water, and finally freezing it with the Full Body-Bind Curse. In a well-coordinated sequence, Norbert was left bewildered, and a bedsheet, as if coming to life, wrapped around it like a zongzi, a rope tied around its mouth.

Now Norbert was entirely immobile. Tom couldn't help but feel pleased; his skills in Transfiguration and Charms were indeed excellent! Moreover, the position of the rope on its mouth was cleverly chosen, making it a blind spot. Even if Norbert had a sudden mutation and spewed fire from its nostrils, it wouldn't reach the rope.

Norbert: "Roar! (Mortal, thou dost overstep!)"

Tom directly took off one of his shoes, knocked on Norbert's nose, and then used another water spell. The rope loosened slightly, but when it saw the fire again, it tightened. Repeating this several times, Norbert became docile, and its dragon eyes showed great confusion.

When Tom finally untied the rope from its mouth, Norbert remained obedient. Tom patted its large head, and Norbert, realizing its defeat, lay still.

Tom sat down, holding his shoe, and squatted in front of Norbert. He knocked on its

big head one after another, saying, "For spraying fire recklessly!"

"For having a bad temper!"

"For recklessly destroying the house!"

"For..."

Whenever Norbert tried to resist, the rope and water would promptly hit its face. Tom was persistent, and soon Norbert surrendered. Tom released his control over it, and even when the bedsheet was removed, Norbert stayed put, sticking out its head obediently.

Norbert did not resist because it understood that the dark-skinned demon (Tom's wizard robe was black) in front of it was not something it could rival. Its flames couldn't harm him, and he had some strange means to make it immobile.

Although what Tom did just now made Norbert uncomfortable, it didn't cause any substantial harm. Tom's actions were only meant to establish authority. Before, Norbert's attitude towards Tom was: he brings me food every day, so he must be a god. Now, Tom wanted Norbert to understand: I provide you with food every day, so I am your god!

For social animals, it was necessary to establish authority, making them believe that your status was higher than theirs. As for dragons, which clearly had territorial divisions, they needed to understand that they were now in your territory.

After a friendly and intimate interaction, Norbert admitted: Tom's status was higher than its, and Tom was the master of this territory.

Soon, Tom and Norbert established a conditioned reflex. As long as Tom took out his "magic shoe," Norbert would involuntarily shiver, then obediently lie down. Tom and Norbert's relationship progressed further. Not long after, Hagrid walked in with a string of field mice. He walked to Norbert, reached out his big hand, and rubbed its head.

Although Hagrid appeared easygoing, he was prepared; he was confident he could dodge Norbert's dragon breath. As for being bitten or scratched a few times, it wasn't a big deal for a half-giant.

Norbert did show its fangs and started brewing flames in its throat, but Tom, who was standing beside it, took off his shoe and waved it. Norbert suddenly fell silent. It obediently lay down, letting Hagrid rub its big head.

Hagrid:!
