The sudden darkness made Aurora gasp, and she heard Azrael let out a low chuckle. "You did not flinch when I appeared in your room, but a mere absence of light startles you?" His voice was smooth and teasing, echoing in the darkness.
Aurora could hear the amusement in his voice, and it only made her more annoyed. "Do not mock me," she said, her words carrying a hint of irritation. "The darkness is disconcerting, and your sudden appearance was... unexpected." She found it strange how all the candles went off, as they usually lasted her all night. "Did you do something to the lights?" She asked, taking a small step forward as she tried to find her way. Her eyes tried to adjust to the lack of light, but she could barely make out the silhouette of Azrael.
