Chapter 2 - Curse

Seeing the troubled look on Tyler's face, the doctor sighed, "You're so gullible you know? It was a joke. You're not expelled."

A smile didn't creep up Tyler's face as he said, "What kind of doctor are you, who mess with patients this way?!"

"Not an uptight one and has delved into acting," The doctor puffed his chest.

Tyler has never seen a doctor such as this, he couldn't muster up any words as he continued looking at the doctor.

"Though you will not be able to escape due punishment as instructed by the dean, even though you were found unconscious, the numerous damages in that room remain. You have been tasked to clean that room," The doctor instructed.

Tyler heaved a sigh of relief, doing community service is much better than getting expelled.

"Wait…damages? I did?" Tyler was bewildered. He doesn't remember anything except from entering the library.

"You don't know what you did? Memory loss won't work here. I'll go and keep myself busy. Bye," The doctor looked at Tyler before leaving the room.

"Memory loss? What in the world happened in that library? This is driving me nuts," Facing the unknown is such a scary endeavor, being unable to grasp and understand anything is like being caged underwater.

All of a sudden, a ringing erupted on Tyler's ears. It was unbearable that it made him call out for help before becoming unconscious once again.

When his consciousness returned, the ringing stopped. His mind and body experience peace as never before. It calmed his mind despite being in an unknown place.

Tyler had just opened his eyes, what awaited him was pure nothingness. He's in a white room, with no depth in the room's 3D dimension. He doesn't even know if it's really a room, what if it's infinite nothingness?

Though the question on how to get out remains in his mind, his illogical calmness pulled him from going insane.

There was no way of knowing where to go, but it would be even more stupid to stay in place. It's highly unlikely that there would be someone to save him.

Tyler decided to walk, he wants to gauge the distance of the 'room' he was in if his sight is useless.

He walked for an immeasurable time, there was no concept of time in an enclosed area since there is sensory deprivation happening.

His legs were going tired but since the room was keeping his mental state into its peak, it becoming more of a torture. He couldn't stop walking, as soon as he started it seemed that there's a force attracting him.

He continued walking until he saw on the horizon a podium. Tyler's eyes lit as he walked with anticipation.

When he reached the podium, he saw a book lying, it was somewhat familiar but remembering where he had seen it led to more juggled-up memory and he was forced to leave it.

He grabbed hold of the book and proceeded to open it up. A burst of 'energy' rushed from inside the book onto his face.

This made Tyler drop it.

He instinctively tried to pick it up but before he grabbed it, the ringing returned. It was excruciating as the sound was more profound.

To top it all of the sounds were accompanied by a load of information.

Tons of information flooded his mind; he was close to being insane. The peace emanated by the white room was nowhere compared to the absurdity of such a phenomenon.

Tyler doesn't know how many times have passed and he also doesn't have time to think of such a thing. Every second was hell in physical form.

After some time, he threw up. The pain had stopped but the memory of doing that was very vivid, every few seconds the memory of the pain would surge up and he continued throwing up.

This continued for a few seconds before his mind and body stabilized.

With his mental state stabilized and recollected, he processed the information he had just gained from that horrid experience.

It was about curses. All the information about curses spanning the real and fictitious world. Tyler also discovered basic information about the book, it was the mythical Akashic Records of the Universe.

It was said to have all the knowledge in the universe, and even secrets no one alive has access to.

"Curses? Why would I gain this instead of the humongous repertoire," Tyler questioned.

'Are there limitations?,' Tyler thought before analyzing the place he was currently in.

Based on the information he had, he was most definitely inside his subconscious mind. A middle ground between being asleep and being awake.

This is most likely a defense system of the mind to protect from curses invading his mind.

He was cursed! And it may have been a catalyst for having this kind of information.

But how and why would have been cursed?

All of his life, he had never offended anyone and if he did, that would be too shallow for a reason for him to endure this kind of torture.

Then he remembered, the lock that was keeping a chain on his memory was abolished, It was most probably that smoke.

"That ghastly creature must be the one who cursed me or a phantom of the curse user."

It was either that smoke was the curse user or just a medium. Either way, he now has a weapon to use against them.

He won't be as powerless as he was previously. He was now armed with tank components.

Though, before Tyler can have his defense ready and launch an attack, he needs to get out of this state.

Even though he now has extensive knowledge about curses, he still wouldn't know how much time has passed in the real world.

That's why the sooner he gets out of this middle world, the better.

He materializes a talisman from the ground with ancient writings written on it. Having knowledge about curses gives Tyler a deep understanding of the mind.

Being in the state of subconscious, he can make thing's based on his imagination. If he knew this he wouldn't have suffered for that absurd amount of time.
