Chapter 19 - Noble Meeting (II)

The atmosphere in the room was still. The glasses were put down and Lazaro ordered for the servants to leave the room.

Cordilla did not move her gaze from me. She just stared at me with deep thought. But it did not take long for her to regain her composure. She sighed and then asked me with a steady voice, "What do you mean war Kaan?"

"It is as I said, a war is about to occur and we need to have a meeting with our fiction to make sure we are all on one side."

"You are going to bring out the traders like this. It is too sudden." Lazaro said with a concern in his voice.

I looked at him and said "it has to be now. With this upcoming war, even the king will be planning something like this."

"Has the war even been confirmed?"

"Cordilla have I ever bought false information."

"No but I'm simply asking if the war has officially been declared or if it is just a thing in progress."

"No not yet. The king will definitely have a meeting with the noble's once the war has been official. Furthermore since my father is no more he will have to choose a new commander and a person with great strategies."

Both their faces darkened after hearing my father's name. Lazaro and Cordilla were my father's best friends since academy days. They treated me like their son when I was first brought in as an adopted son of the Mabuz territory. They were also there to support me when my father died.

"Anyhow we have to have a meeting to warn our allies about the war."

"Okay then follow me." Cordilla got up and led the way, probably towards the communications room.

I walk behind her and observe her. Father had told me somethings about lady Cordilla that I always take a note of while talking or interacting with her.

She's conceited, brave and ambitious. But there's more than this to somebody with her terrible past.

She was born and grew up in a wealthy family in a poor port in the Mabuz territory, she lived free of worries until she was about 14 years old, but at that point life changed.

She lost her brothers in a volcanic eruption in the surging abyss. Alone, lost and forgotten she had to survive in a corrupt world. But with her strength and diligence, she managed to conquer all fears and doubts and find a new home. This has turned her into the woman she is today.

When she was made a fiancée to Lazaro after all the struggle and entered the academy with him, she showed how much powerful she is. Later after their marriage she became even more of a force to be recon with.

Her broad back shows how much she has grown.

The door opened and we arrived in the communication room. Cordilla asked the mage present there to connect the mass contact ball and contact all the noble houses that are on our side.

"Contact Count Gavin Rowan, Marquise Caleb Kline and Viscount Aspen McCoy."

All three were our allies while Marquise Arlo Cobet, Viscount Nefeli Lowell and other nobles sided with the king. It is a well balanced noble circuit handled by me and the king keeping each other in line.

The ball glowed all kinds of colors and then three screens glowed above the mass contactor. Faces of three men appeared. On the left was Gavin with his mahogany red hair and clover color eyes, he was a middle aged man but looked younger than his age. In the middle was Caleb with his Chestnut brown hair and brown with a hint of yellow eyes was in his sixties and had wrinkles around his eye because of his age.

And finally on the right is Aspen with his pitch black hair and ash eyes. He was a young man a little older than me and with a well sculpted face..

"What's with this late night call huh?" Gavin asked in an angry voice.

"It must be important if it's you who called Cordilla." Caleb said in a calm voice.

"..." Aspen did not say anything and just waited for the answers.

Because Cordilla was standing in front of me they could not see me. I simply tapped on Cordilla's shoulder and signaled her to move. She sidestepped and moved to the left. After she moved I stepped forwards and looked at the three men on the screen.

"It was me who asked her to call." I announced as all three looked at me. Caleb and Aspen frowned and Gavin just raised an eyebrow in question. Maybe because it's been awhile since I contacted them but they look like they have a lot of questions in their minds.

Aspen was the first to speck, his deep voice echoing in the room,"Duke what might be the reason for this call. Seeing that it's you who called it must be big news."

"It is," I said as I sat down in the chair, the mage vacant for me and continued "I hope that the information I am about to give will not be leaked."

"You called us because you trust us so just be out with it." Gavin grumbled but his eyes were seriously waiting for my reply.

"There is a war." I declared.

"..." The shock was heard in their silence.

'I don't really have to announce and spread the word about a war being broken that happening because of me and for me but I have to take advantage of this chaos to get everything ready. This might be the only time I can do it. After all, it will be the final test before I am back to my position. As long as I finish this mission I can relax and enjoy the luxuries I have been setting up for myself in heaven.'

"WHAT NONSENSE!!" Gavin shouted.

"Gavin calm down, you can't shout like that, think with a calm mind." Caleb tried to calm him down.

"Well sorry Sir Caleb but I cant calm down with a news like this."

"Sir, please hear me out, we don't have to fight amongst ourselves." I try to stop those two from fighting further.

"Duke, what plan do you have?" Aspen asked with an emotionless face.

I smirked and thought to myself 'the plan is complete chaos.'
