Roenaldo emerged back on the surface to see that, just like before, the leftover energy from the rescued Zapfish had affected the large kettle on a cylindrical platform in the center of the area. This event, however beneficial, recalled something that Roenaldo was wondering about. "Hey, captain," he inquired, "I thought that removing the Zapfish from the Octarian bases was what was causing the large kettle to have its lid removed. How is it that removing the Zapfish from a place in Inkopolis had the same effect?" Cuttlefish simply answered, "Beats me. Just another mystery in this conundrum of a world, right?" Roenaldo shrugged, finding it in his best interest to not ask questions and just go with the flow. With this in mind, he inked a path and swam towards the open kettle, ready for whatever lurked in there.
Roenaldo dropped down from the ceiling to find a similar view to the area of the Octostomp, except this time the platform in the middle of the purple sea had another purple lake in the middle. Wasting no time, Roenaldo used the launchpad to rocket towards the arena, where he saw the strangest contraption he had ever laid his eyes on. It was large and cylindrical, covered in seaweed and starfish, had large, bulging eyes, small sneakers for feet, and what looked to be a faucet for a nose. Roenaldo looked up to see another Zapfish descending from the sky, which prompted a red tentacle identical to the one of the Octostomp to emerge from the top of the deactivated machine. After gaining its power source, the strange Octoweapon whirred back to life, its eyes turning from dull grey to a vivid yellow. Flat cylinders ejected themselves from the machine's bottom, each having 2 or 3 octopus-like suction cups. Having assumed a taller posture because of this, the weapon let out an electronic roar, shaking the very ground. "By my beard," said the captain, "Another one! That's the dreaded Octonozzle! It's going to try and shoot balls of ink at you, so be prepared." Roenaldo looked at the Octonozzle as it generated purple ink and shot it out of the nozzle that it called a nose. This led him to say, "Hold on, so what you're telling me is that this Octoweapon's main method of attacking is...sneezing?" As Roenaldo stepped to the side of the rolling sphere of semi-liquid, Cuttlefish replied, "...I suppose that you could put it that way, yes. But that doesn't make it any more deadly!" Roenaldo smiled at this fact, wondering what was going through the Octarian's minds when they cooked up this design. He consequently let down his guard, which proved to be a big mistake when a chair-sized, calculated, lobbed ink ball landed inches away from his face. The projectile made a small burst, covering the ground around Lumiose in purple goop. After restricting the movements of its foe, the Octonozzle released a straight shot directly at Lumiose, and he was knocked backwards. He tumbled repeatedly, almost falling into the deadly substance surrounding the arena. Thankfully, Roenaldo was able to regain his balance by flailing his arms around. "Okay," he said, "I guess I should keep my mouth shut. This runny-nosed guy means business."
Roenaldo got his act together and returned to the center of the platform. "So," he said to the captain, "How do I take this thing down?" Cuttlefish responded, "Do you see those suckers that are sticking out like sore thumbs? Just go ahead and blast them!" Roenaldo nodded, setting his sights on his targets. The main problem with this approach was that he could not stop getting fired at. Avoiding the small projectiles was not that much of a problem, but it was difficult for Roenaldo to focus while under the constant threat of getting hit by a stray shot. However, he had a plan. By baiting a shot from the Octonozzle in a strategic position and taking advantage of the contraption's reload times, Roenaldo was able to sneak in some hits on a single sucker at a time. This process was tedious, but Roenaldo had patience to spare. With rinsing and repeating, the suckers supporting each layer of the Octonozzle were splatted, resulting in the weapon's head malfunctioning. An erroneous sound could be heard as the top of the Octonozzle spun around before coming to a stop. As the tentacle emerged from the top to assess the situation, Cuttlefish said, "Now's your chance! Ink up the sides of the Octonozzle and shoot the tentacle!" Roenaldo got right to it, taking care not to fall in the ink surrounding the machine. He faced a bit of discomfort while attempting to swim past the excessive seaweed, but he nonetheless managed to reach the top of the Octonozzle, where the tentacle immediately attempted to knock Roenaldo off into the purple liquid. Expecting this to some degree, Roenaldo cleverly went into his squid form to avoid the sucker punch before assaulting the Octarian arm with his Hero Shot.
Remembering what happened during his fight with the Octostomp, Roenaldo Super Jumped off the Octonozzle, although his landed was less than optimal. He got back on his feet from his sprawled position to see that the tentacle had returned to its place inside the machine, which had now regained its suction cup-filled layers along with an additional one. With a higher vantage point, the Octonozzle resumed its ink ball assault on Roenaldo, who was only expecting to deal with normal, singular shots. He faced a rude awakening when the Octonozzle took a deep "breath" and created a projectile the size of a boulder. Roenaldo widened his eyes in shock, wondering how he was going to avoid a shot of that width. Little did he know that he was not going to be dealing with a singular object. The Octonozzle dropped the large ink ball on the ground and gave it a mighty kick with its right foot, causing the sphere to break up into 8 smaller spheres of equal power. Roenaldo was not at all prepared for this technique, and was let with no choice but to take massive damage. All it took was one more projectile from the Octonozzle for its foe to get splatted.
Roenaldo's body was revitalized in his base, leaving him with 2 more chances at victory. "Hey," said the captain, "Here's another one of my tips for you. When faced with a tough situation, you must use every bit of your body to succeed!" Roenaldo quickly jumped back into the fray, trying to decipher what his mentor meant. Seeing that its adversary had returned, the Octonozzle immediately started charging another one of its big attacks. As Roenaldo looked ahead with dread, he said to himself, "Oh, this is bad...Let's see, 'use every part of your body?' What would that mean?" Roenaldo quickly calculated the situation in his head, realizing that the rolling spheres were largely stuck to the ground. Then, an idea popped into his head. He crouched, waiting for the spread shot to come out. As the wave of spheres approached him, he leapt up as high as he could, allowing him to avoid the attack. Before the Octonozzle could reload, Roenaldo swam closer to it, shooting down 3 of its suction cups. After the contraption finally recovered from its strong attack, it quickly attempted to launch its lesser attacks at Roenaldo, who avoided them all. Employing the same strategy from before, Roenaldo eventually took out all the supporting suction cups, leaving the head exposed once again. Roenaldo wasted no time climbing the Octonozzle, whose top had been preemptively painted by the enemy tentacle. This tactic did not plague Roenaldo too much, and he quickly inked the ground beneath him to increase his maneuverability before making the tentacle retreat with another round of yellow shots.
He once again Super Jumped to safety while the Octonozzle kicked its functions into maximum overdrive. It rumbled as it generated a massive amount of ink, prompting Roenaldo to crouch in anticipation. Once the Octonozzle was ready, it let loose a barrage of ink balls, kicking each one rapidly with its legs. Roenaldo was able to jump over the 1st few, but he found himself quickly overwhelmed by the sheer number of projectiles being launched. The floor was like a sea of billowing, purple waves that rocked Roenaldo to no end, causing calamitous damage to his body. In a matter of seconds, he was splatted.
Roenaldo awoke back at his spawn point, saying, "Well, here I am with my life on the line yet again. And it's all thanks to Allergies Mcsnot over here." Not having the will to flee, Roenaldo jumped straight back into battle yet again, determined to give it his all in combat.
He gave an unrelenting look at the Octonozzle, letting it know that he was done playing around. It responded by ejected its lesser projectiles at Roenaldo, aiming to butter him up before finishing him off. After avoiding these initial attacks, Roenaldo watched as the Octonozzle prepared its most powerful technique. Roenaldo started visibly sweating, having no idea how to evade this attack. "Dang it," he said, "I can't run to the side, I can't hide in my ink, and I can't jump high enough to save myself. How am I going to get out of this one?" The time was ticking as the Octonozzle prepared to unleash its finishing move. Just then, another idea entered Roenaldo's mind. He went into his squid form and compressed his body. As soon as the torrent of ink left the nose of the Octonozzle, Roenaldo leapt tens of feet towards the ceiling. The air time that he got by doing this was just enough to wait out the devastating attack that was happening on the ground below. Because he had not planned a landing spot, he accidentally ended up on top of the Octonozzle, which immediately attempted to shake him into the purple liquid below. To avoid a gruesome death, Roenaldo kicked at the side of the Octonozzle, allowing him to be propelled onto safe ground. Without skipping a beat, Roenaldo ran all around the Octoweapon, letting his adrenaline fuel his movement as he shot down all the suction cups, causing the head of the machine to become a sitting duck yet again. He immediately climbed the sides of the weapon, prepared to finish off the Octarian arm inside. The tentacle, as a last resort, pulled out its own model of a gun like the ones used by the Octolings and aimed it at Roenaldo. Before he could get blasted, Roenaldo shot down the tentacle, causing it to drop its firearm and finally get splatted. Roenaldo then jumped off and hid in his ink, anticipating what was going to happen next. As expected, the leftover yellow ink got into the circuits of the Octonozzle, causing its layers to bulge out before the whole contraption exploded in a flash of yellow. Left in the remains was the Zapfish, which Roenaldo promptly released from its prison. "Hey, little guy," said Roenaldo, "You wouldn't happen to have caught whatever that Octoweapon had, did you now?" As it turns out, the Zapfish could not have possibly caught a disease from the Octonozzle, for it was already sick—sick of Roenaldo. The fish let discharged electricity directly onto Roenaldo as Cuttlefish said, "Fantastic work again, Agent 3! Way to use your noggin." Roenaldo sniffed with regret as the transportation drone picked him up and carried him to the surface.
