Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

"TAAAH, Klint, TAAAH!"

"You still alive?" Lucas snarled, aiming his gun at the wyvern's head and firing again.

"TAAAH, Klint, TAAAH!"

"Finally dead, huh, bitch?" Lucas kicked the massive, bullet-riddled wyvern sprawled on the ground, its body covered in burns and cuts.

He glanced at the creature, noting the sixteen small holes planted in its head. "You sure were a cockroach, didn't want to fucking die. But anyway GG"

Exhausted, Lucas took a seat on a rock beside the wyvern's corpse. "What was that red flame with a tint of purple it used? It fucking consumed half of my mana like a hungry wolf," he muttered to himself.

"What was that purplish thing? it was called... thether... nether... What was it?"He thought hard. "Oh yeah, Aether was it."

Lucas turned to look at the wyvern. "It isn't a dragon, so what is it?"

"It's a fucking lesser species."(A/N)

"Yeah, yeah, I know, dammit. It just fucking solves the mystery," Lucas grumbled, summoning his sword. He poured mana into it, watching the purple glow at the tip expand and intensify. "So is it also Aether?"Lucas carefully touched the tip with his finger.

"Holy fuck!" The overwhelming pain hit him instantly, and he pulled his finger back, throwing the sword away. He looked at his finger, now stripped of skin and muscle, revealing pristine white bone.

"Holy fucking shit."He cursed and quickly used a bunch of healing potions on his finger, trying to mend the damage.

"Now what should I do with this?" Lucas pondered, staring at the dead wyvern. "Let's get its core and skin it. I hope its meat is tasty."

He stood up, stashing his sword back into his storage ring and summoning a dagger. "Time to see what you're made of," he muttered, approaching the massive corpse.

"Delicious," Lucas said, amazed by the taste of the wyvern. "Best meat I've had in my whole lifetime. And also the best decent meal in Six months."

He looked out at the haunting deep forest that extended as far as the eye could see. "Next spot is the place where my family has kept the elves," he muttered.

"Don't exactly know why they even want more half-elves; they have me."He smirked, taking another bite. "Wait, they don't."

"Thud."

"What the hell is this pain now?" Lucas grabbed his stomach, feeling a sudden, intense pain. He scanned his body and smirked.

"Haha, it's a freaking breakthrough in Six months—a bit slow, I think."He fixed his posture and sat in a lotus position, channeling mana at high speed into his primary core, with the excess flowing into the betas.

After about three hours of constant mana absorption, Lucas finally felt stable."Mid Yellow Primary, Light Orange Secondary, and a newly formed Dark Red," he muttered, unimpressed by his progress. "If I think correctly, won't my body just become pure mana? Why did I even make mana cores..."

Grabbing his forehead, he muttered exhaustively, "Just leave it, brain. I know I messed up. But look at the brighter picture—when I have all of them at white, I will, in a sense, have infinite mana."Lucas smirked.

"So now I only have one left to activate. We'll do it at the next breakthrough."

"THUD."

"Enough fucking thinking, let's sleep now."

"Beasts fucking—oh wait, they're fighting," Lucas corrected himself."A Wyvern and a pack of large Black Wolves. Hmm." He observed the encounter from a safe distance. "It looks like she'll die. Maybe I should leave it."

A wolf teleported behind the Wyvern and attempted to bite, only to be met with a powerful tail slap.

Lucas glanced at his sword, its runes glowing as usual. Scratching the back of his head, he muttered, "I personally don't like bullying, so let's help her out."

He summoned his gun and poured mana into his katana. The blade glowed red, with the tip gleaming a shade of purple, blending together in a mesmerizing counter to the red glow.

Lucas crouched low, moving silently through the underbrush. He circled around the pack of wolves, his eyes scanning for the weakest points in their formation. He gripped his katana tightly, feeling the pulsating energy course through the blade. The wolves were preoccupied with the Wyvern, their growls and snarls filling the air as they lunged and snapped at their prey.

"Time to even the odds," Lucas whispered, a smirk playing on his lips.

He took aim with his revolver, targeting the closest wolf. Pouring mana into the gun, he fired. The bullet struck the wolf in the side of the head, blasting it apart in a spray of blood and bone. The other wolves snapped their heads towards the sound, snarling in fury.

Lucas leapt from his hiding place, katana blazing. He slashed at a wolf's throat, the blade cutting clean through and spraying blood across the ground. Another wolf lunged at him from the side, its jaws snapping shut inches from his arm. Lucas pivoted, driving his blade into its chest.

The Wyvern, sensing the shift in battle, roared and lashed out with renewed vigor. It caught a wolf in its claws, crushing its ribcage before tossing it aside. Lucas moved in tandem with the beast, cutting down wolves as they lunged at the Wyvern's flanks.

But the wolves were relentless. One teleported behind Lucas, trying to bite into his shoulder but only scratched it. Lucas spinned around to drive his blade into its eye. Another wolf lunged at his legs, its teeth tearing into his calf."FUCKING little pulps wanna get revenge for their parents. Lucas stumbled, but managed to shoot it point-blank with his revolver, its head exploding in a mist of red.

The Wyvern swung its tail, knocking several wolves off their feet. Lucas used the moment to regain his footing, blood dripping from his wounds. He and the Wyvern stood back-to-back, a strange alliance forged in the heat of battle.

"Let's finish this," Lucas muttered, eyes blazing with determination.

He quickly summoned five towering fire guardians, each standing at 30 feet tall. They emerged from the ground, their bodies composed of roaring flames, their eyes burning with intense heat. As the guardians took form, Lucas reached into his storage ring and pulled out a healing potion. He downed it in one gulp, feeling the warmth spread through his body as his wounds began to mend.

The fire guardians wasted no time, moving with swift, destructive precision. They swatted the wolves aside like insects, their fiery limbs searing fur and flesh. The air was filled with the sounds of crackling flames and the agonized howls of the wolves.

Lucas leaned against a tree, watching the spectacle. "Can't exactly fight a bunch on my own," he remarked to himself, his tone a mix of frustration and grudging acceptance. He felt the healing potion working its magic, his strength slowly returning.

The wolves, sensing the overwhelming power of the guardians, tried to flee, but there was no escape. The fire guardians pursued them relentlessly, incinerating them where they stood. The once ferocious pack was reduced to ash in minutes, their bodies burned beyond recognition.

Lucas let out a sigh of relief as the last wolf fell. He gestured, and the fire guardians began to dissipate, their flames flickering out until only wisps of smoke remained. The battlefield was silent except for the crackling of lingering embers.

"Guess that's that," Lucas said, standing up straighter now that his wounds were mostly healed. He scanned the area, noting the charred remains of the wolves.
