Erwin and Elara exchanged a glance before hurrying to follow Lucas. They caught up with him just as he exited the mansion, his stride purposeful and his expression dark."
Lucas, wait," Elara called out, her voice soft but urgent.
He paused, turning to look at them. "What?" he snapped, his patience wearing thin.
"We're here to help," Erwin said, his tone calm but firm. "Father's orders."
Lucas sighed, his irritation evident. "Fine. Just try not to get in my way."
The three of them made their way through the city, moving with purpose towards the eastern quarter. As they walked, Lucas couldn't shake the feeling of resentment towards his father. This better be worth it, he thought, his mind already planning the execution of the task ahead.
Lucas reached the mansion and summoned his black cloak and a different face mask, pure white with only small gaps for the eyes. Elara looked at him with confusion. "What are you doing?" she asked.
"Don't you see? I'm preparing to attack them," Lucas replied.
Erwin and Elara facepalmed simultaneously. "You can't do that in the capital city," Erwin said, exasperation clear in his voice.
Irritated, Lucas asked, "So what are we supposed to do then?"
"Didn't Father tell you to keep this as silent as possible?" Elara replied.
"No," Lucas shot back.
Elara sighed. "We're supposed to assassinate him silently. Right now, the royal guards are keeping a close watch on him."
Understanding the gravity of the situation, Lucas nodded. "Then what's the plan?"
Elara looked at him expectantly. "That's for you to decide."
Lucas facepalmed himself. "Great, just great," he muttered under his breath. He turned to Elara and Erwin. "Alright, let's keep it simple. We'll go in at night. Elara, Erwin, you'll be on standby."
Elara's enthusiasm faded, and she pouted. "Just that?"
"Yes, just that," Lucas replied firmly.
Elara's disappointment was short-lived. As Lucas changed his hair and eyes to obsidian black, the same as his siblings, she brightened up. "Now you look like our little brother," she said, grinning. She tried to hug him, but Lucas dodged, only to be caught in a tight embrace as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"What was that for?" Lucas asked, a bit annoyed.
"Because you're cute," Elara said, smiling. "I can already tell how many hearts you'll break."
Lucas ignored her skirmish and focused on the task ahead. As night approached, he prepared for the mission.
Clad in a black military coat with a red cross badge on it and red lines going across the borders of the arms, he equipped himself with only a black dagger and wore a black mask with only eye gaps.
Lucas moved with stealth and precision, slipping through the shadows towards the mansion.
The security was tight, but not insurmountable. He made a mental note of the illogical factors in the house's design. The guards were predictable, their patrols easily timed.
The layout had numerous blind spots, and the lighting was poor, offering plenty of cover for someone like him.
As he navigated the hallways, he encountered a maid who eyed him curiously. "You must be new," she said, her voice dripping with seduction. "I haven't seen you around before."
Lucas avoided her touch and responded coolly, "Just passing through. Keep to your duties." "Why in fucking world are there women intrested in minors in this world." Lucas thought to himself.
The maid pouted but let him go, turning back to her work. Lucas continued his silent journey, each step bringing him closer to the noble's quarters.
The mansion's design was almost too easy to exploit; the rooms were too far apart, and the security was more for show than effectiveness.
Reaching the noble's chamber, Lucas found the door slightly ajar. He slipped inside, moving soundlessly across the plush carpet.
The young noble lay asleep, unaware of the impending danger. Lucas approached the bed, his black dagger glinting faintly in the moonlight.
In one swift motion, he covered the noble's mouth with one hand and plunged the dagger into his heart with the other.
The noble's eyes flew open, a muffled gasp escaping as his life drained away. Lucas held him until he was sure the noble was dead, then withdrew the dagger and wiped it clean.
As he turned to leave, he heard footsteps approaching. Quickly, he hid in the shadows, blending seamlessly with the darkness.
A guard entered, glanced around, and then left, not noticing the lifeless form on the bed.
"Now let's fucking finish the traces of assassination," Lucas muttered to himself.
He summoned a bottle of oil from his storage ring and began pouring it all around the room, ensuring he covered every possible trace of his presence.
The thick, pungent smell filled the air, mingling with the scent of death. He moved swiftly, spreading the oil with methodical precision.
Once satisfied, he summoned a small ember of fire and let it drop onto the oil-soaked floor. Flames erupted instantly, hungrily consuming everything in their path.
Lucas watched for a moment, the flickering light casting eerie shadows on the walls. He didn't stop there.
Moving to the adjacent, empty room, he repeated the process, ensuring the fire would spread quickly and uncontrollably. The blaze would destroy any evidence, turning the mansion into a chaotic inferno.
Lucas quickly exited the mansion, slipping through the darkened hallways and out into the night.
As he turned back, he saw the mansion engulfed in flames, people rushing out in panic, shouting and screaming.
"Way too easy," he said, pulling off his mask and allowing the cool night air to hit his face. He smirked, feeling a sense of grim satisfaction at the destruction he had wrought.
Rejoining Elara and Erwin in their hiding spot, Lucas felt a strange mix of exhilaration and relief. The mission was done, and the traces erased.
Elara looked at him with a mixture of admiration and concern. "You set the place on fire?"
Lucas shrugged. "Just making sure there's no evidence left behind."
Elara commented, "So much for keeping it silent."
"Next time tell the old man never to call me from my vacation." Lucas spoke his voice cold.
