Chapter 12 - Fight!

"You messed up when you so generously awakened my powers. I will walk down a path paved by this inheritance and to start, I'll make sure to kick any pebble that's in my way."

He made his stance clear with this declaration as a glimmer of cosmic radiance shone in his eyes.

"If this is the way you want it to be then by all means give it your all," he said, hovering above Null.

Null obliged, unleashing his milky white aura; this time, his left eye bled scarlet blood and the milky color of his aura was tainted with red.

"That's more like it!" The crazed smile of the floating creator widened.

Null raised his hand and with it, the aura condensed into a claw that tore its way forwards.

'So he's got the innate ability to manipulate the cosmic aura. Lucky bastard." The claw reformed around him before separating into a ball of revolving cosmic energy and a peculiar red form of energy.

"Now this... this is what I was expecting! Show me more," he laid back while messing around with the red sphere.

Null cared not for his provocative words as he dashed towards the floating fool above him and with a leap, he condensed the aura into black flames on his fist and went for a punch.

"Close combat is for weaklings with who lack finesse," the disgust in his voice was apparent as he flicked the red sphere back to Null.

BOOM!

"Whoa, you've got some serious firepower in your arsenal," a look of surprise appeared on the lackadaisical fighter, "What else can you do?"

Null was starting to get real pissed at the mocking nature of the whole thing. "What about you! I thought you were going to take my body from me."

"C'mon let me enjoy this moment. This is the only time where two mortals like us could possess cosmic authority. You don't know how lonely I've been on my journey, how many things I've lost."

"Stop pushing all of your problems on me and die with regret!" Null manifested more of the violent red energy in his palms as it grew in his closed grip.

Once it grew three times its size, about the size of a basketball, he hurled it like a madman.

To Null's dismay, the massive orb was taken into the control of his enemy with ease.

"I said show me more. Nothing at this level will appease me." The orb's shape and red color began to change.

"It took me a few looks to come up with a better way of utilizing this little trick of yours," as he spoke, the mass of energy formed into a slender firearm with a bright scarlet gleam that flew right into his hands.

Vrrrr!

A strange noise was heard from the weapon before it shot a laser fast projectile into the distance.

The projectile in question was a mere inch in width and two and a half inches in length.

Its exact structure was unknown as it rippled and vibrated in a chaotic overlapping manner that increased the force of explosion to a level incomparable to its previous form.

VZRRBOOM!

The mind space itself shuddered in response to the explosion, forcing a setback on Null as he spat a mouthful of blood and fell on his torso.

"You claim that I am a mere pebble on your path, but as I see it, I am an unscalable mountain that bars your way forward. Everything that I just did, you are capable of doing; you are afraid of the very thing you need to conquer."

"Open your mind to the endless array of possibilities, let the cosmic energy conjure whatever your mind wills and it will do the rest."

His advice stunned Null for a moment before he bemoaned, "What is wrong with you? Why don't you just finish me off!"

"BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO DEFEAT ME!" With a sudden snap, the maddened lecturer pounced at Null with his palms ablaze in a black flame.

Ignoring the hypocritical act, Null pushed himself to create one last explosive covered underneath his body. His mind was at peace once more and the threat of death looming before him could do nothing to change that.

'He took you away from me, so I guess we're going to meet again soon.' The warmth that he felt only once before spread throughout Null as he wished for nothing more than to be back by the campfire under the stars.

With the feeling came a variation in the coalescing energy; what was initially a violent red stream of destructive power slowly settled into a shimmering rosy hue of gentle energy.

It reached out to Null's chest where it began slowly seeping inside, revitalizing him.

A new power fueled him as he cried crystalline tears.

He felt the whirling vortex inside of him fill up with the new energy that now brought the calamitous behemoth to a halt.

On the outside, the tainted aura was restored to its milky white with rosy spots now swirling around; the luscious pink petals continued rising and falling around Null as if he were surrounded by a sea of cherry blossoms.

At this moment, the flaming black palms clashed with the wondrous aura exuded by Null.

Upon coming into contact with the first petal, the black flames dance as they sought to destroy everything in sight.

But the petal continued its ascent through the flames as if they weren't there and it went on to touch the palm of the creator.

It melted seamlessly into his system almost instantaneously!

The scariest part about it all was that he had no control over this unique pink energy.

It flowed through him and wreaked its havoc along the way.

An endless warmth spread through him despite his best efforts to fight it.

It chilled him when the flames on his palms were extinguished without even giving him the chance to fight it.

As he turned to the perpetrator behind the strange energy, he saw Null sitting cross-legged amidst the petals; his hands were at his sides, his eyes were closed, and a warm smile found its way across his relaxed face.

He drew a deep breath in, and the petals all rose in unison.

He exhaled a soft sigh and the petals all fell in unison.

And as his eyelids parted the petals faded out of existence and he took in the view of the creator staring baffled at him.

Null began to speak, and the warm smile was tarnished by his parting lips.
