Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 - Quests Start

[Mourn for the dead: +5 Experience]

[5/100 Experience]

The notifications appeared in front of Daron. He shook his head at them. He had conflicting emotions about the system he had obtained. On one hand, he could grow stronger again, on the other, it seemed cold and uncaring with no emotion. Why would mourning be a way to get experience? It seemed off to him, but he couldn't get rid of it now.

Looking at the final tab that had appeared in the menu, Daron clicked on the quests tab.

[Quests]

[Obtain an Ability Domain]

[Time Limit: None]

[Reward: Extra knowledge of ability domains]

[Accept Quest: Y/N]

[Win School Competition]

[Time Limit: Until the competition ends]

[Reward: Combat Tab Unlocked, 1 Combat Skill, 10 Experience]

[Accept Quest: Y/N]

Accepting both quests, Daron was a little worried about the second one. However, it did also give him more information about the system. There were other tabs he could unlock in the system as well if he met certain criteria. He imagined that other tabs could be unlocked doing other activities and not just quests, but he would have to find that out later.

Going to his physique tab, he went to check out the other two techniques he had aside from meditation.

[Expand/Retract Progression]

[Level 5]

[20/1600 Experience]

[Usage of this technique increases one's energy. Continuous use of this technique will let it gain experience.]

[New Quest Unlocked]

Daron raised his eyebrow as he looked at the last thing that popped up. Clicking on it, he was brought back to the quests tab.

[Quests]

[Find a better way to gain experience for the physique technique Expand/Retract Progression]

[Time Limit: 1 Month]

[Reward: 10% Reduction in Energy when using skills, +10 Experience]

[Accept Quest: Y/N]

Though this quest had a time limit, Daron didn't mind accepting this one as well. With the system, he was sure it would be easier to find a way to increase it than he would've been able to without. Though he didn't currently have any skills, if he won the competition he would have one combat skill. Though, without an ability domain, he wondered what the system considered a combat skill. Would it be a martial arts skill that the system imparts into him? Or something else more in the lines of a magic type skill? Either way, these two quests went hand in hand.

Going onto his other technique, he wondered if he would get a quest for it as well.

[Life-Saving Energy Focus]

[Level 3]

[90/400 Experience]

[Usage of this technique sends the natural flow of energy in the body into the torso and head, protecting the internal organs. Increases healing ability when using the skill, in turn, it makes the individual unable to move. Continuous use of the skill will let it gain experience.]

[New Quest Unlocked]

[Quests]

[Find a way to move while keeping 80% of the healing ability of the Life-Saving Energy Focus technique]

[Time Limit: 3 Months]

[Reward: +10 Healing Power, Increase Understanding of Energy flow in the body]

[Accept Quest: Y/N]

With a time limit of three months, Daron immediately accepted the quest. This quest also gave his most significant reward yet. Adding ten points into his healing power, a stat already at its highest of any of them aside from constitution and strength due to his special physique. Though he would have preferred an increase in strength, especially for the upcoming competition, he knew he wouldn't have been able to complete a quest to increase his strength so significantly before it. For now, he could only rely on his body's natural strength above others to win.

With a few hours left before school would start, Daron decided to start the last quest he had accepted. Focusing his energy into his torso and head, his body became paralyzed. Thinking of a way to try and keep the healing energy and gain the ability to move, Daron decided to try moving just one arm for now. He expanded his energy to move towards his right arm and a flood of energy started moving towards it.

Before the influx of energy could flow into his arm, he tried to slow it down to a trickle instead of the river that was about to move. It felt like a wall had been built at his elbow as the energy slammed into it, sending shockwaves of pain through his nervous system. He refused to let the energy out of his focus and grit his teeth as the energy continued slamming into his shoulder, a small amount going into his arm.

As the energy reached the end of his arm, he tried moving his fingers around and could get them to twitch ever so slightly. As the minutes passed by, the energy slamming into his shoulder had instead become a persistent pushing, while the trickle into his arm had become a consistent line of energy.

The small amount of energy in his arm had now covered the entire energy flow in it, and Daron would now have to reverse the flow, while still keeping the energy flowing into it as well.

The reversal process went smoother than expected and only took a few minutes to accomplish, the energy flow into his right arm now complete using the Life-Saving Energy Focus technique.

[Quest Updated]

[+20 Experience in Life-Saving Energy Focus]

Daron was snapped out of focus as his energy flow went back to normal. Clicking on the notifications, Daron was pleasantly surprised.

[Quests]

[Find a way to move while keeping 80% of the healing ability of the Life-Saving Energy Focus technique]

[Time Limit: 3 Months]

[Reward: +10 Healing Power, Increase Understanding of Energy flow in the body]

[Progress: 10% Complete, Right Arm Unlocked]

It seems as though Daron was on the right path, but looking at the ten percent was a little disappointing. It seems even if he unlocked the rest of his limbs, that would only account for thirty more percent towards the quest. But, at least he had been able to get started progressing in the quest so soon. If his thoughts were correct, the remaining sixty percent of the quest would be where most of the time was spent with the quest. Either that, or the system heavily underestimated Daron. But Daron doubted it was the latter. He had been stuck in progressing the technique for a while now.

Looking at the time, Daron noticed more time had passed than he thought, but he had plenty of time to get to school, fortunately.
