Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: was adopted

The interior of the snake gang base was eerily quiet as everyone was gathered in the meeting room. The boss was still speaking and no one dared to interrupt him. With a stern expression, he conveyed his message, and the gangsters were apprehensive as he was known to be a formidable force.

"From now on, we all need to be cautious. Our insider at Mao Corporation makes it easier to gather information, but we must not forget our mission. Someone has promised us cooperation if we eliminate the boy. Additionally, Ruel, you need to be extra careful as he is quiet ". The speaker addressed multiple concerns and assigned roles to each person while emphasizing the importance of being careful.

The snake gangsters were attentively listening to their boss when they were abruptly interrupted by footsteps in the corridor. They wondered who could be making noise during their meeting. Mr. Jones instructed one of the members near the door to investigate and see who it was.

He got up and walked in that direction. As soon as he entered the corridor, he noticed three men, two of whom were carrying a person. He approached them and inquired, "Who are you carrying?"

"It's Calvin" they replied.

"Calvin!"

"yes it's him and isn't dead"

"go and place him in the opposite room to recover and let me go back and inform the boss"

He returned to inform the boss of the situation, but the boss appeared nonchalant and simply instructed him to investigate and report back.

After the meeting ended, the attendees started to leave. The person in question decided to check on Calvin, who was still asleep. This was an opportunity for him to confirm Calvin's identity. He examined Calvin's neck and noticed a snake tattoo, then checked his face again to verify the presence of a mole. Satisfied that it was indeed Calvin, he left and reported back to his boss.

.....

Tyran struggled to sleep the previous night, as he pondered various strategies for infiltrating the snake base. He tried to recall the identity of the gang's founder but to no avail. He had witnessed various mafia members with unique tattoos before, but he had never seen the one associated with this parting.

He was lost in thought and concluded that perhaps the owner of the item was a person of high rank, equal to him. The owner was concealing their status well, so he needed to proceed with caution. This was the first time he had ever been stressed by someone. Suddenly, he remembered his late mother's words of encouragement, telling him he was the best and the strongest. These thoughts gave him renewed strength.

He finally slept after solving the puzzle. Now he needed to take action quickly.

The next morning, he woke up with a headache and attempted to quench his thirst with water but to no avail. He proceeded to the balcony adjacent to his bedroom and settled in a wooden chair, clothed only in a towel and sporting a pair of sunglasses.

The balcony was decorated with a wooden table and two chairs. Flowers were placed in vases and hung on the walls, emitting a refreshing fragrance. He sat down to relax.

After a few minutes, the butler served him juice and snacks before offering a facial massage. "Um," he replied softly.

As he sipped on some juice and basked in the perfect amount of sunlight, the butler began to massage him. His mind and body immediately relaxed. He had a fondness for greenery and took pleasure in the plants surrounding him. The yard was adorned with a variety of trees, flowers, and other lush decorations.

As he was enjoying his peace, a maid interrupted him, saying, "I'm sorry, sir, but your phone is ringing." He responded, "Let it be," indicating that he didn't want to be disturbed. However, the phone rang again just as the maid was about to leave. The butler then suggested, "Sir, why don't you take it? It could be something important."

Tyran hesitated before picking up the object to see his bodyguard, Earnest.

"what is it."

"Sir, Minenhle is going to be discharged today. What to do, should I help her?"

"wait for me there, I will be there in an hour."

He began preparing and selected a limited-edition Lamborghini, but when his chauffeur offered to drive him, he declined, saying "No, I'll drive."

"But if the old man found out I will be dead."

"If you are here you should follow command "

The chauffeur remained silent as Tyran drove the Lamborghini straight to the hospital. Upon parking, he noticed several people staring at his car with envy in their eyes. To avoid drawing too much attention, Tyran entered through the back door to Minehle's room.

....

As he approached the door, he could hear voices emanating from inside. "Ma'am, I implore you to wait. My boss will be here shortly to collect you," the person inside said. "I understand that your boss is very kind, but I don't want to delay his work and take advantage of his generosity. After all, it's only the middle of the week."

"He is willing to help, so don't feel guilty. Plus, he should remember that you collapsed in front of him. Any man can help in that situation". However, before he could finish his sentence, the door suddenly opened from outside. Their eyes were fixed on the sight of a very handsome man. He had a slim and tall physique, but upon closer inspection, his shirt revealed well-defined muscles. Minenhle remained in shock for a moment, but Earnerst quickly composed himself.

Tyran was puzzled by the surprised expression on the girl's face in front of him. He wondered if his appearance was the cause, as he had noticed similar reactions from many young girls before. To confirm his suspicions, he resolved to check himself in the mirror when he got home. "Is everything alright? You look like you've seen a ghost," he inquired.

Minenhle suddenly became aware that she was lost in thought and feeling quite bashful. She found herself questioning her actions. As she was caught up in her thoughts, she heard him say, "I hope you enjoyed what you saw."

Earnest couldn't believe it. He thought to himself, "Wow, even the boss is a bit of a flirt." He also noticed that the girl seemed uncomfortable and was withdrawing. Without hesitation, he stepped in to ease the tension.

" boss can I carry her things to the car."

"of course, what are you still waiting for."

He was confused about what he had done.

"I can carry my things now I'm fine." she interrupted the conversation between the boss and the servant.

"let him carry them."

As she was speaking, he interrupted with a stern statement, "I hold the authority here, so your objections are invalid." Minenhle was left without words and complied with the orders given. They left the ward through the rear exit and proceeded to the car park.

Upon reaching the car park, Earnest courteously opened the car door for both of them. Tyran then kindly gestured for Minenhle to enter first. However, Minenhle's eyes widened in shock as she saw the luxurious car before her. She hesitated, feeling unworthy to step inside such an expensive vehicle. In her eyes it could cost an arm and a leg. Little did she know, this was one of the least expensive cars that Tyran owned. Minenhle took a few moments to gather her thoughts before ultimately accepting Tyran's invitation to get in.

Tyran could see what was on Minenhle's mind. Amused by her thoughts, he gently picked her up from behind and placed her in the car seat. Minenhle was taken aback by the sudden action, but when she saw that Tyran had a serious expression, she remained silent.

"Sir, where are we headed?" Earnest finally asked.

"Where would you like to go first?" Tyran replied, directing the question to Minenhle.

"I need to visit my mom at Ashant Hospital before heading home," Minenhle responded, still avoiding eye contact with Tyran. He noticed her discomfort, but simply smirked and instructed the driver to head to the hospital.

...

The Ashanti Hospital was consistently busy, catering to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Even those with limited financial resources could receive treatment here.

Mrs James was admitted to the general ward and shared a room with two other patients. The room was equipped with three beds, three tables, and a shared washing room.

During visiting hours, many people were present to visit their loved ones. Mrs. James watched them with envy, as it had been five days since her daughter had last visited or even called. Her only remaining relative, Minenhle, was the one taking care of her. Lost in her thoughts, tears suddenly streamed down her cheeks. Just then, the door to their room opened. Hopeful to see her daughter, Mrs. James was disappointed to see the man she despised so much.

She asked him, "Why are you here?"

"I came to check if you're alright," he replied.

"Do you wish for my death? Do you despise me that much?" she asked.

"Yes, I hate you. If it weren't for you, I could have had a grandchild by now. But someone as barren as you can't even bear a child for me," he retorted.

"How dare you say such hurtful words to me? Isn't Minenhle enough for you?" she responded.

"Enough? How can an adopted child be enough for me? I wanted a child of my own like what I did later. I realized it later, I should do it earlier." he said showing a hint of pride. Mrs. James' tears became uncontrollable now looking at her heartless ex-husband. Her eyes were barely and couldn't see a person who was standing at the door but Mr. James had seen it and said

" Minenhle you are here, "
