Chereads / Malachim: Pursuit Beyond Hell / Chapter 35 - Fun & Gone

Chapter 35 - Fun & Gone

The next morning at Wicked Wings, Malachim went out to the shop, and surprisingly, everyone was present.

"Whoa. It's been a while since we've all been here," Gibbous said as she wiped her hair after showering from a workout.

"Yeah, but yesterday was too tiring," Pierrot stretched and settled down beside Gibbous on a bench. Roy immediately took the frying station and thawed some chicken out of the freezer for breakfast.

"Can't we eat something different?" Quill yawned and settled at the table. "We'll grow some wings at this point."

Arc and Crescent followed behind, groggy and slow from yesterday's cleaning and training.

The two did not talk, and Arc kept looking in her direction, wondering if she was upset about what had happened.

"We can have the sauces," Roy replied, putting them in the basket.

"Then I'll order some noodles as well," Quill said, pulling out his phone.

"How was the training, guys?" Pierrot asked, turning to Quill.

Quill yawned again. "It was tiring..." He blinked hard and looked at Arc and Crescent. "But when Arc trained for the sealing, Crescent... she... we don't know what happened, but she just coughed up blood."

"I heard something," Crescent said. "It was a certain voice I'm not familiar with. I'm not sure what it said exactly, but it felt like it was threatening me."

"Was a demon around at the gym?" Pierrot asked.

The three shared a look. "No, we didn't sense anything..." Crescent replied.

Arc steadied his breath. He didn't want to reveal anything about the possible demon he encountered at his soul gate. He didn't want to be seen as the same menace he was in his district before, and so he kept his mouth shut, gaze down to prevent himself from lying.

"Hmm," Pierrot wondered, "That's strange. Anything else that could be noted?" He turned to him. "Hm? Arc?"

He did not say a word, only shook his head.

"Well, next time, you're training sealing with me," said Pierrot as he crossed his arms and leaned back.

"A-alright," Arc nodded.

A few moments of silence passed, and Quill, who was on his phone, suddenly chuckled.

"What's so funny?" Gibbous scooted over to him, looking over at his phone.

"Is that Pierrot?!"

"HAHAHA!" Quill laughed too loudly, and everyone looked at them. "Yeah."

"What the heck is that?" Gibbous squinted her eyes to see more clearly as she pushed her face into Quill's phone.

"Hey! I can't see. Let me send you the link."

Gibbous straightened and grabbed her phone instead after clicking her tongue. When she checked the link Quill gave, she also laughed out loud.

"What is it?" Pierrot, with an almost concerned expression on his face, walked over to them. When he saw it from Quill's phone, his eyebrows narrowed.

"What the heck..." he walked back to his seat and melted into it. "People have a lot of time on their hands."

"Roy!" Quill then called, as he sent the links to everyone, and Arc and Crescent opened it on their phones as well.

Roy turned to the group from the frying station. "What?"

"Pierrot has a cult!"

"That's not a cult!" Pierrot protested. "It's just a fan thing."

"Same thing," Quill chuckled. "Look at these comments, guys... I'll go to church every day if he is the priest preaching the mass." A loud laugh followed from Quill, and Pierrot covered his ears from the comment.

"AGH! Don't read it aloud!" Pierrot shouted. "Those people must be from yesterday too..."

"A hottie and a God-fearing man? Can't we abolish the law that priests can't marry?" Quill followed with a fit of laughter as he slapped the table in front of him. The others chuckled as they scrolled on their phones for comments.

Pierrot stood up and began to reach for Quill's phone, but he ran away.

"I don't mind getting... possessed if he will save me..." The smile on Quill's face disappeared on the latter half of the sentence he read, and the atmosphere suddenly turned sour. "What the heck did I just read? Don't they know how hard it is to seal? Hell, they won't even survive possession and they are kidding like that?!"

Gibbous this time was the one who laughed out loud. "I don't get why you like this guy, he looks like a catfish with that sharp jaw."

Quill laughed again, and the others followed. "Do we also have cults like this?" Quill asked as he settled a few chairs from the team, and Pierrot just gave in to the teasing.

"Let me check one for Roy." A few minutes later, Quill found it. "Our rainbow of Hope... Roy." He laughed once more, and this time, Pierrot joined in.

The subject of teasing was focused on frying the first meal of the team.

"He is handsome but too serious for my taste..." Quill read out loud. "Geez, they sound like they are picking men from a catalogue!" he laughed and scrolled down and found another. "He looks like my gym rat uncle. HAHAHA!"

Pierrot cackled as the members read the comments out loud, now that they were not about him.

"What else is there?" Pierrot said, clearly enjoying the comments.

"Don't make me come back to your page, Clown Cult." Quill laughed once more and turned to show a comment to Gibbous.

"Hmp! Let me look for you then..." Pierrot said as he pulled out his phone and searched Quill's name. He instantly found one and smirked.

"My pretty boy!" Pierrot laughed so loudly that his stomach hurt, as he turned and pointed fingers toward Quill. "The mint hair prince! HAHAHAHA!" Another loud laugh set off, and he paused as his stomach grumbled. "Damn, laughing made me hungry."

"Here's another one..." Pierrot paused to scroll a bit and grinned. "Can I adopt him? I feel like I could fit him inside my pocket!" And a hearty laugh, sharp and fast, resounded as Pierrot almost fell off his seat.

"Ugh..." Quill's expression was sour as he looked for another comment about Pierrot.

"Just looking at this man's face cleanses me!" Quill shouted at him, giggling with a judgmental expression.

Pierrot scrolled down as well. "This baby boy will be the death of me!"

"Demons are nothing compared to his dangerous face!"

"Let me feed you, my baby!"

"This man can **** and **** and ***** me and I will be alright with it..." Quill trailed off, the snarky expression turning grim.

Everyone in the room looked at him with a frown, a distasteful expression etched on their faces.

"Now that was too much..." Gibbous said as she fake-gagged. "Pierrot wins."

Pierrot, who was disgusted just now, stood up to celebrate. "Yay!"

Quill clicked his tongue. "It was not my own words..."

"We know. Wrong choice of comment equals disqualification," she replied.

As Pierrot danced in the room, Roy approached the team, and they immediately set the table before he put the full plates of fried chicken and the sauces that go with them.

"Looks good!" Crescent said as she placed a plate in front of everyone.

Roy also removed his apron and settled beside Quill. "Let's eat. Where are your noodles?"

"In five min-," Quill took a piece of chicken and began eating. "He'll be here in five minutes," he said while chewing.

As everyone was ready to get some food, all six pairs of hands paused mid-air and shared looks.

Chills waved through everyone's spine, as the alarm blared six times.
