Flames, flames everywhere.. The whole village was engulfed as far as the eye can see. Green lightning strikes constantly pummeled the village, with giant dinosaur like birds carrying humans in their claws, being ridden by selkies. The selkies were raiding the village!
There were perhaps hundreds or even thousands of villages outside the capital of the Ufera Syndicate, each legion was in charge of maintaining order in their villages. But with large amounts of villages comes a need for more security and maintenance. Each legion was already dealing with Selkies at numerous areas of the SouthWest Region of Arctov so they couldn't afford to maintain the villages to the best of their abilities. This left many villages and people vulnerable to attacks by Selkies or other creatures that lived in these lands.
The village that was currently being raided was one within the Manticore legion. Although the legion houses strong warriors, they're still warriors nonetheless. They aren't all powerful that they can protect hundreds of others and themselves without losing energy against Selkies who have lived in these lands for who knows how long! Their power is on another level, so of course the warriors in this village didn't stand much of a chance to the natives of these lands.
Within the burning village however, laid a 2 story wooden hut that hasn't been engulfed by flames, it was surrounded by a stone wall with the gate having already been blown into pieces. The garden that laid outside was littered with corpses of the selkies and other various creatures and weapons. Craters, scratches and holes were everywhere around the corpses, it was a total warzone at this walled hut!
Within, a beautiful woman stood in the vast basement below the hut, her white and purple long hair fluttered about as her purple aura continued to flow around her like water. She currently held a 4 meter long katana in one hand, and a child in her other arm. While she stood at only 5 feet tall, it looked comical for someone so small to be wielding such a weapon and a child, but the dead selkies thought a goddess has come to pass judgment on them!
The basement was huge, towering at 7 meters with lots of supports above and beams holding it in place, anyone who saw this basement would think they found the lair to some sort of king. The basement stretched far and wide, with countless rooms that stored various goods, training centers, and experimentation rooms. The woman stood in a long hallway that was lit up by wall torches, that stretched what looked like forever!
Before the woman stood countless corpses of selkies! And on top of those corpses stood the elites.. The stronger force of the selkies that humans called the elites for their ridiculous battle iq, strength, speed, and even technology they possessed! 4 elite harpoonists stood aiming from as far as possible, locked onto the woman who had deflected most of their spears. the elite warriors were currently being healed by shamans in the back, and in the front of them all, who stood closest to the woman, was an elite shaman.
He stood there, stroking his beard as he looked at the woman. His red aura also having descended into the basement, his much more chaotic then the woman's. Both auras were colliding with each other as they stared intently at each other, waiting for the next move.
"Mom you need to run! Please I can't lose you too!!" the boy yelled at her mom. Even though she was carrying him in her arms, he was not a baby, in fact he was almost 6!
"Kubera, listen to me" Kubera's mom said calmly, "Take this necklace and hold it tightly no matter what. Your father did his best to get this necklace for me, so you must treasure this just as much as I did, it's a good luck necklace so you will be safe. We'll always be with you for as long as you have this." Kubera's mom put him down and took her necklace off and gave it to him while maintaining eye contact with that shaman.
"Kubera, run to the door at the end of the hallway, the necklace is the key to open it. Go through the door once you open it no matter what, trust me." Tears swelled in his eyes, he didn't understand why his home was being attacked, why the village was being attacked, why his family who never done anything wrong was being attacked! And now his mom is telling him to run away without her? He didn't understand anything!
He was about to protest to his mom when suddenly the shaman raised his leg and stomped the ground, causing the whole place to shake! The shaman then stopped stroking his beard and raised that hand, forming a fireball that was aimed for Kubera! The ball shot out at a great speed, but when the woman saw this, she deflected the ball with her long blade. The shaman was ready for this, and deflected the ball back at the woman, who deflected back, which he deflected, it wouldn't stop!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The fireball kept on gaining momentum, but both parties calmly deflected the ball, until it looked like a streak of fire was moving back and fourth between the two!
"RUN KUBERA!" The mom shouted at her son as she was deflecting.
Kubera could only grit his teeth and run for the door while clutching onto the necklace.
The shaman chuckled at this pitiful sight. He believed that the boy running was useless as he'll catch up to him eventually, so he decided he'd put this woman to the test, the same woman whom he fought before. He then raised another arm so now one deflecting and the other began shooting more fireballs, each fireball being a different color! Soon a rainbow formed between the woman and the shaman, and her swings got faster and faster, to the point created so many after images it looked like she was swinging 6 swords from different directions to deflect the multi-color fireballs!
B- B- B- B- B- B- B- B- B- B- B- B- BOOM!
"It's futile to resist, Shura! Accept your fate and you'll burn peacefully." The shaman yelled, being adept in magic and knowledge unlike most humans, the shaman could speak in human tongue easily.
"You selkies never learn, especially you Bortra!" Shura replied calmly, after which she condensed her aura into her blade, making it's silver glow purple. She then was able to slice each fireball and dissipate their energy!
Bortra's expression was grim after witnessing this. No human he fought could destroy magic like she just did, especially by using their own aura.. 'Is this some sort of bloodline ability she awakened recently?' Borta thought to himself, but he soon calmed down and smiled, "I like that new trick you learned, but this ends here."
Just then, another selkie shaman appeared out of the shadows next to Bortra. He wielded a luxurious golden staff that had some sort of precious stone at the tip of the staff and wore a white robe with a golden outline, "Good, she's alive." The new shaman spoke.
"She's all yours, master." Bortra then bowed to his master and took a step back with his hands behind his back.
Shura shuddered at this, not only because he called him master, but because that staff radiated pure chaos. It was as if the definition of bloodlust was that staff! To make matters worst, when the shaman looked at her, it was as if she was being stared at by hell itself.. Her breathing became ragged and her hands began to shake uncontrollably, 'Is this some sort of ability of his? It has to be! No way I'm reacting out of fear..'
Just when she thought things couldn't get worst, the staff glowed green and released a lighting strike!
BOOM!
A strike so fast she barely deflected the first one, but then a second one came and blew her leg off!
As her body fell after losing balance from the loss of a leg, she was struck by another lighting strike to her arm, the force causing her body to spin mid air. 'Kubera.. I-' she couldn't even finish her thought as another strike blew her head open.
..
Kubera finally made it to the door, he opened it using the necklace to find what looked like a home, but it was swirling and looked as if it was inside water. He touched the water to find his hand could go through with ease, but his hand felt numb on the other side. He turned around to get one more look at his mom, but to his horror he saw a selkie floating towards him from the end of the hallway! The selkie was actually riding a carpet of lightning, with a staff in one hand and the other behind his back.
Kubera knew this could only mean one thing.. So he gritted his teeth and jumped into the water!
..
When the shaman arrived to the door, the portal was gone. He sighed after examining that there was nothing else behind the door, "The brat escaped.. Tell the lord I've killed Shura and to continue with the plan. As for that ability of hers she used on you.. Gather samples of her blood and bring it to my lab."
"Yes, master." Bortra bowed before disappearing.
