Duke's mind was busy trying to digest the information overload he just heard from Darica.
Honestly, he had never expected that her life would be that dramatic.
Whenever he saw her being aloof and acting as if she was more mighty than everyone else. All he thought of back then was to conquer her and make her squirm under him.
But never in a million years would he have guessed that Darica went so much to be where she was.
No wonder why her uncles didn't seem to fully like him or trust him. He finally began to understand why they were so protective of her, and why they would go to such great lengths for her.
They were indeed her parents. And it must have been painful and unbearable back then.
As for the part where the godfather was in prison, he completely threw it out of his mind.
So, what if they were criminals? At least they were kindhearted enough to take a child in and raise them.
