Chapter 29 - I hope they don't fail me

With wry smiles on their faces, Zirkon and Zalysthene rose up from the floor of the palace and walked away to their chambers.

Their father was so strong that he could casually send Domain realm experts flying and prevent them from getting hurt at the same time!

Zirkon took a deep breath and shook his head to organize his thoughts.

Now was not the time to dwell on trivial issues!

Their father had put so much power in their hands for them to win this war. Both siblings had to make the best out of it if they truly wanted to succeed their father as the Emperor.

"Earth huh?" Zirkon muttered as he tapped his fingers on the armrests of his chair.

Earth was one of the recently colonized vassals of the Voronoi. Unlike other races around the galaxy, when the Voronoi invaded earth, the human race was unawakened!

They were as weak as flies and a casual wave of his hand could even kill them.

Due to the rules of DAUN, the Voronoi had to introduce these humans to awakening and give them a little help for them to stand on their own two feet.

Unfortunately, these humans wanted to bite the hand which fed them!

Instead of them to accept their inferiority to the Voronoi, like rabid animals, they stubbornly resisted the Voronoi.

Humanity was one of the most devious races.

One needed brains to deal with such a troublesome race. Simple brawn wouldn't cut it. That was why the emperor had given them to Zirkon for him to deal with. After all, he was the sibling with brains.

His sister on the other hand was given one of the most stupid races in the galaxy who lived by brawn and not thinking, the Kobolds.

Zirkon chuckled.

He was sure that his sister would hit off with such brainless people just fine.

Now wasn't the time to worry about Zalysthene though but rather the time to make plans.

Zirkon had a week to put his affairs in order and he was determined to make the most out of it.

He was going to use this week to thoroughly absorb every bit of information about Earth and humans then he would formulate a strike plan to punish them!

What made the humans so tricky was their insane adaptability to change and their ability to grow quickly!

Even though there were three paths of power namely the Spirit, Soul and Body, not all alien races in the galaxy had the capability to awaken in all three paths.

That is why a race like the Voronoi had no one walking the path of the Soul. They were primarily walking either the spirit and body path.

Even then, only a few were able to walk the Spirit path like Zirkon who had a variant of the Lightning element.

On the other hand, humans were one of the few races who could walk on all three paths and had experts for all three paths!

Despite only being introduced to awakening about close to hundred years ago, their rapid advancements shocked the Voronoi.

Already, they had been able to nurture nine Planetary realm experts and tens of Ascended realm experts!

Their rate of advancement was so high that it terrified the Voronoi!

Of all their vassals, safe to say it was only humans and Maviitsi that scared them a little. Both races all had characteristics which would make them very difficult opponents to fight.

Zirkon wasn't afraid of the challenge though.

In fact, he was more than ready to prove himself.

These ungrateful humans would be defeated and forced under submission again. Once they were beaten down, the DAUN rules would then favor them and allow them to finally exploit and enslave them!

That was what was meant to be.

This war though, was going to last for quite some time.

Zirkon estimated that by the end of a decade, all the vassal races would truly become their slaves and Voronoi would be boosted up on the racial rankings.

With thoughts running through his mind at lightning speed, Zirkon watched his display device and absorbed tons of information which had been gathered on humanity.

One particular line made him crack a grin.

These humans were enemies of their own selves.

For the right price, they could even sell out their entire race!

Didn't this mean that all he had to do in this upcoming war was to buy some of them? Voronoi had so many things humans didn't have.

Even without giving any resources, he could catch a human and blackmail them to betray their race in exchange for their freedom!

It truly simplified things.

He was going to give them a crushing defeat.

What would make the war last long though and cause the humans to be able to put a struggle was their enemies.

In this war, nothing stopped their enemies the Rexorians from attacking them and aiding their enemies.

The bad blood between the Voronoi and Rexorians were truly immense.

For thousands of years, they had been at each other's throats!

It was sure as hell that they would interfere with this war to personally frustrate them.

Unfortunately, they would meet the wrath of his father who would lead his armies to wreak havoc to those two-headed sons of bitches!

Zirkon knew that even with all these, his chances of winning this war was close to eighty percent!

That was his conservative estimate in case the humans had hidden themselves far deeply than he had imagined.

With how devious they were, it was a certainty that they would have petty tricks up their sleeves but all tricks were useless against brains and power!

There was one thing Zirkon wanted to achieve though.

What he wanted to do though was to ensure that the forces he had in his command and the legion he led would come back not only victorious but with minimal casualties.

This would cement his position to get the throne.

His sister would probably blindly lead her people in a reckless head on charge and set off any trap made for them.

Zirkon smirked. His sister's casualties were going to be very high.

As for him, he would come back with the most intact force and the most crushing victory.

That was his fate.

That was his destiny.

In the throne room, the Voronoi Emperor Kulak furrowed his brows in thought.

Beside him, the patient figure of his most trusted aide, Xemin stood quietly.

"Do you think my kids will be up to the task and bring back a victory," Kulak asked his aide.

Xemin replied. "It is possible. After all, the races they are facing are very weak. If they can't even do this much then they are unworthy of the throne."

Kulak nodded. That was exactly what he thought.

With the forces he had given them, it would be more than a shock if they failed to bring back victory.

The reason why he was even letting them lead this war was that there was a tacit unspoken agreement among the races to avoid fights between Ascended and Planetary realm experts unless it was truly necessary.

This war was going to be a stage for Domain realm and other lower realms under it.

They would be the main fighting force.

As people advanced in power and reached the pinnacle, they became unwilling to risk their life.

After all, they had toiled to reach the peak of power and it would be foolish of them to throw their lives away for a cause which was of little relevance to them.

That was why the small fries were there to fight this war for them.

For them, they would watch on behind the scenes and only make a personal move if someone of equal strength interfered or things were about to go awry.

"I hope they do not disappoint me," Kulak muttered.

If after all this they failed such a simple task, he wouldn't hesitate to kill them or give them the worst punishment of all, disownment!

If they could not accomplish such a simple task, they weren't worthy to be called the son of Kulak!

It would be an absolute disgrace!
