Chapter 103 - Qi Condensation track

Elrian, while savoring the aromatic scent of the meal he had prepared, glanced out of the window and noticed the familiar figures of his parents approaching their home. The first thing that caught his eye was the massive snake-like creature they were hauling behind them. Its shimmering scales caught the waning sunlight, and its lifeless eyes reflected a certain malevolence even in death. It must have been quite the adversary to take down, he mused.

However, it wasn't the creature that alarmed him. It was the state of his parents. Lyssandra's usually vibrant auburn hair was matted with sweat and dirt, her face pale with exhaustion. Small cuts adorned her arms, and her robe was torn in several places. Arlan didn't fare much better. His rugged face bore a deep gash across the cheek, and his breathing was noticeably labored. The usual twinkle in his eyes had been replaced with a look of weariness.

Rushing out to meet them, Elrian exclaimed, "What happened? Are you both alright?" His voice trembled with a mixture of concern and relief.

Lyssandra managed a weak smile. "We're fine, just a bit roughed up. That creature," she nodded towards the snake, "was more formidable than we expected."

Arlan added, his voice raspy, "It had a unique ability to harness water from the environment and use it both defensively and offensively. We managed to bring it down, but not without paying a price."

Helping them secure the creature, Elrian led his parents inside. The warm, comforting aroma of the stew and freshly baked bread seemed to revitalize them slightly. "You've outdone yourself today," Lyssandra remarked, a hint of her usual cheerfulness returning as she inhaled deeply.

After ensuring they were settled and had some water to drink, Elrian hurriedly fetched the first aid kit. He began tending to their wounds, cleaning and dressing them meticulously. While doing so, he couldn't help but feel a swell of pride. Despite their injuries, his parents had managed to take down an incredibly powerful creature. They truly were formidable cultivators.

Arlan, noticing Elrian's admiring gaze, chuckled. "It's not always about power, son. Strategy, experience, and sometimes sheer luck play a significant role."

Lyssandra added, "Every battle is a lesson, Elrian. We'll heal and grow stronger. Today's scars are tomorrow's stories."

As the evening progressed, the three of them shared their day's adventures over the sumptuous meal. The house echoed with laughter and tales of bravery, a testament to the indomitable spirit of the family. The challenges of the day were momentarily forgotten, replaced with warmth, love, and camaraderie.

Arlan's eyes widened in astonishment as Elrian animatedly recounted his encounters. The youthful exuberance in Elrian's voice was palpable, each word dripping with a sense of achievement. Lysandra listened with an equal mix of pride and concern, her gaze drifting occasionally to the minor injuries Elrian had sustained.

"You took down a worm, two squirrels, AND two wolves on your first solo hunt?" Arlan exclaimed, shaking his head in disbelief. "By the winds, Elrian, when I first ventured out, I was barely able to fend off a singular qi sensor creature. And even that encounter left me bedridden for days."

Lysandra chuckled, her green eyes sparkling with mirth. "Ah, I remember that day. You came home looking like you'd been through a storm. As for me, I was slightly more fortunate, managing to take down a single creature. But, truth be told, there was a good amount of luck involved."

Elrian grinned, his chest puffing up with pride. "Well, I had some...unique methods. And I did get a bit of assistance," he added, subtly hinting at Serpwingra without revealing the secret.

Arlan raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Unique methods? Care to elaborate?"

Elrian hesitated for a moment, considering how much to reveal. "Let's just say I've been working on some new techniques and strategies. I've tried to approach each battle with a clear plan in mind, adjusting and adapting as needed."

Lysandra smiled warmly, reaching out to ruffle Elrian's hair. "Always the thinker, just like your father. But remember, while strategy is important, don't underestimate the value of intuition and gut feeling."

The family continued to discuss Elrian's experiences, with his parents offering insights and advice from their own years of hunting. They stressed the importance of always being prepared, understanding one's opponent, and knowing when to engage or retreat.

Lysandra's smile faded as the conversation took a more serious turn. She exchanged a knowing look with Arlan before beginning to recount their own experiences from the day. "Elrian," she started, her tone heavy with concern, "While we are proud of your achievements today, you should know that the forest is becoming increasingly dangerous."

Arlan nodded, "We ventured deeper today, beyond the usual hunting grounds, to scout and see the changes for ourselves. We've noticed a surge in the number of qi sensor creatures, but what's more alarming is their strength. They are significantly more powerful than before."

Elrian's eyes widened in alarm. His parents had always been the pillars of strength and wisdom in his life, and to see them so genuinely concerned was unsettling.

Lysandra continued, "At the edge of our village's hunting range, we saw tracks, Elrian. Massive tracks, unlike anything we've seen before."

Arlan chimed in, "The size and pattern suggest a creature of immense power, potentially even at the qi Condensation level. Such creatures have never ventured so close to our village's hunting grounds."

Elrian swallowed hard. He had heard tales of qi Condensation creatures — beings so powerful they were considered legends. The thought of such a creature nearing their village was deeply unsettling. "Is the village in danger?" he asked.

Lysandra shook her head, "We can't be sure yet. But we've never seen signs of such a creature this close before. It's worrying."

Arlan placed a comforting hand on Elrian's shoulder. "But for now, you should focus on your own growth and training. The stronger you become, the better prepared you'll be to face whatever challenges come our way."

Lysandra added, "The world is changing, Elrian, and not necessarily for the better. But we are a family, and together we'll face whatever comes our way. Always remember that."

Elrian nodded, drawing comfort from his parents' words. Despite the looming threats, the bond they shared as a family remained unbreakable.
