Reaching the market within another ten minutes Aaron let out a sigh of relief as he saw the normal zombies and beasts walking around aimlessly, he Landed and commenced his slaughter and managed to find some food but he knew this wouldn't even last then days, if they use it sparingly then it should last a week, meaning in a week everyone would have to leave the school or be starved to death that was assuming the beasts meat were inedible. He packed all he could and just when he wanted to leave he noticed a small shop that was covered in claw marks but still somehow managed to stand.
He carefully opened the door and after a sharp sound of something breaking, the door swung opened. Since the Apocalypse started this was the first time he actually felt tears fall out of his eyes just by looking at the scene inside. Two females were inside the shop they seemed to be a family and the girl who looked barely 12
Inside the dimly lit, cluttered small clothes shop, the putrid stench of death lingered in the air. Broken mannequins and torn garments lay strewn across the floor, a testament to the chaos that had engulfed the world outside. Shafts of weak, dusty sunlight filtered through the grimy windows, casting eerie shadows that danced like specters on the faded wallpaper.
In the corner of the shop, huddled behind a makeshift barricade of clothing racks, Margaret clung to her 13-year-old daughter, Emily. Her heart raced in her chest, matching the pounding of the zombies outside, creating a disconcerting cacophony with the guttural moans of the undead beyond the shattered glass doors.
Emily's small frame trembled as she buried her face in her mother's chest, seeking solace from the nightmarish scene outside. Margaret's fingers gently brushed through her daughter's tangled hair, her eyes darting nervously toward the entrance.
"Mommy, I'm scared," Emily whimpered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Margaret held Emily tighter, her eyes welling up with tears. "It's okay, baby," she whispered back, her voice quivering. "Mommy's here. We'll be okay."
Outside, the relentless onslaught of the undead continued, their bony fingers clawing at the glass, leaving streaks of blood and grime. The grotesque faces of the undead pressed against the windows, their eyes devoid of humanity, their mouths twisted into ravenous snarls.
Margaret's heart ached as she gazed at the window. She knew they couldn't stay hidden forever. Her fingers fumbled in her pocket, searching for the locket she always wore. It held a picture of her husband, Emily's father, who had succumbed to this nightmare just hours ago before locking them in this shop for safety. He was a lecturer but somehow he still managed to protect his family while struggling to keep his humanity
As if sensing her despair, Emily looked up at her mother with wide, tear-filled eyes. "Mommy, what's going to happen to us?"
Margaret's throat tightened, and her grip on the locket tightened. She forced a weak smile. "We're going to be okay, sweetheart. We're going to find a way out of here, just like we always do."
But deep down, Margaret knew the truth. The odds were stacked against them. Her husband was gone, and the world as they knew it had crumbled. All that remained was her unwavering love for her daughter, a love that had carried them through the horrors they had already witnessed.
A sudden crash echoed through the shop as an ugly bird broke through the window and stumbled toward them. Margaret's heart leaped into her throat, and she clung to Emily even tighter. With trembling hands, she pulled a rusted crowbar from a nearby rack of clothing.
As the zombie drew closer, Margaret's motherly instincts kicked into overdrive. With a desperate cry, she swung the crowbar with all her might, striking the creature square in the head, sending it sprawling to the ground in a lifeless heap.
Tears streamed down Margaret's face as she looked down at Emily, her daughter's eyes wide with terror. She knew that they had to keep moving, that they couldn't stay hidden forever, but in that small, horrifying moment, she had shown her daughter that a mother's love was stronger than any nightmare the world could conjure.
And so that was how the mother-daughter pair survived on only a slightly plump bird for 2 days in a clothes shop. Of course the Mother didn't eat, only repeatedly telling her daughter she wasn't hungry, but when she realized she was going to be unable to protect her daughter with her plummeting strength she started thinking of ways to get out of the shop, the metal door was still locked and outside was still an unimaginable number of beasts and zombies, she felt so lost but let couldn't it show to her beautiful daughter.
Present scene
"Please sir don't hurt us, I…..I'll do anything "A woman who looked to be in her late thirties knelt down and attempted to crawl towards him seductively but the pain and humiliation in her eyes spoke volumes. "Please give my daughter food, let her survive please….and I'll do my best to please you" Her clothes were already ruined, evidence of the ordeal she had previously faced
Aaron couldn't watch any longer and sat the woman up against a wall, he walked up picked up a Cloth and placed it on the woman before he brought out some snacks he had gotten." Eat first, I'll take care of your daughter" He said earning a strong disapproving nod from the mother, fear was evident in her eyes but she gripped his arms tightly refusing to let go. Aaron frowned at the stubborn woman but quickly eased up when he put himself into her situation, so using his powers he wrapped to semi-conscious girl with a wrapper and returned her into her mother's arm and said softly. "I'll be outside when you're ready, I'll take you to a shelter where you and your daughter can be safe"
He went outside to clear his emotional mind but paused and stared at the human male arm used to wedge the door keeping the family safe.
"What love, It's in times of trail that the real you is revealed, Rest on Soldier I didn't know you but I will take care of your family as though they were mine"
And just then as though fate was mocking him
