Chapter 27 - Introducing the Amazing Squacky

The Awakener's message resonated in Aaron's mind like a subtle whisper. It carried with it both a sense of hope and a daunting responsibility. As the group gathered around him, Aaron relayed the message.

"Guys, it's from The Awakener," he began, his voice filled with a mix of curiosity and determination. "We survived, and there's more to this world than we've ever imagined."

He paused, letting the gravity of the moment settle in. "I've been given the title of 'leader.' It's not just a name; it comes with a unique ability. For every person under my leadership, my stats increase slightly. It's a way to grow stronger as we protect each other."

Aaron glanced around at his loyal team, each face reflecting a mix of determination and curiosity.

"The way to upgrade this title is by defeating other leaders, other 'kings' out there," he continued. "And here's the interesting part: anyone with the 'leader' title can command those who aren't leaders or under another leader when they're within their territory."

He let the implications of these words sink in. Aaron knew this meant not only defending his territory but also expanding it to protect his loved ones.

"Our next goal is clear, my friends," Aaron declared, his red hair glinting in the sunlight. "I'll become the king of Nigeria, and maybe, just maybe, I'll aim even higher to protect our loved ones and survive in this ever-evolving world."

With newfound resolve, the team embarked on their journey, ready to face the challenges and rivals that lay ahead, as Aaron took on his mantle as their leader, a beacon of hope in a world filled with uncertainty.

A message, akin to an ancient prophecy, appeared in Aaron's mind, slowly unraveling with otherworldly wisdom.

[Attention: Phase 2 - The Lands of Inheritance Initiated.]

The cryptic message foretold a seismic shift in their world. [As the lands transform, survivors will ascend to evade the tumultuous shifts of Earth's evolution. Be prepared, for after this metamorphosis, you may encounter new beings.]

As if guided by an unseen hand, billions of survivors rose from the changing ground below. They floated, suspended in the air, witnessing the profound alteration of the world below them.

Landscapes danced before their eyes—a once-barren desert sprouted with lush forests, towering mountains reached for the heavens, and rivers carved fresh paths. Mysterious temples materialized in the distance, exuding an aura of ancient wisdom.

The very Earth quaked and expanded, as if reawakening from a slumber spanning eons. Beneath their feet, the ground rippled like waves, a testament to the boundless power of nature. It was a moment of both wonder and trepidation, as they soared above the churning maelstrom of change, reshaping the lands of inheritance. Yet, in the backdrop of this grand transformation, an unspoken truth lingered—an ominous warning that new beings might await them on the other side of evolution's threshold.

The survivors descended to the ground as the tumultuous transformation of the world concluded, leaving almost every building and structure in ruins. The school they once called their sanctuary was no exception. Aaron surveyed the crumbling surroundings and finally decided it was time to leave.

In his room, Aaron began to pack his belongings. Emily, the brave thirteen-year-old girl who had faced her intruder head-on, approached him with teary eyes. She recounted the harrowing experience of the man who had broken into her room. Anger and protectiveness surged through Aaron, but he knelt down to Emily's level and cradled her gently, comforting her like a fragile egg.

Margaret, Emily's mother and now one of the survivors, approached Aaron with a plea. She wanted to serve as Emily's maid, desperate to be close to her child to prevent such incidents from happening again. Aaron couldn't turn down the distraught mother's request and agreed to let her accompany them.

After a few minutes, Joy and Harmony revealed the treasures they had obtained from their respective foes. Joy's treasure was a stunning crystal with the power to reflect up to five attacks from a 3rd-path beast, a valuable asset in their dangerous world. Harmony, in a flirtatious tone, presented Aaron with a ring capable of housing a massive abandoned 5-star hotel, capable of accommodating over 5000 people. She playfully remarked that he owed her for this incredible gift.

With the space ring now in his possession, Aaron felt more confident about his plans to leave the school. The transition wouldn't be easy, but he was ready to face the challenges ahead.

As he continued to pack, Squacky—the parrot from their previous encounter—flew into the room.

Squacky, the parrot with a penchant for snarky remarks and a perpetual disdain for its name, found itself in yet another comical predicament. As it perched on a nearby branch, it couldn't help but grumble incessantly about its new assignment as Emily's protector.

"Emily, really? I can't believe they've reduced me to babysitting duty," Squacky squawked, his colorful feathers rustling in irritation.

Aaron, nearby and chuckling at the bird's antics, couldn't resist chiming in, "Well, Squacky, it's your duty now. You've got to keep an eye on her."

Squacky bobbed his head indignantly, "Bah, they might as well have named me Fluffy or Cuddles. Anything but Squacky. And now, I'm playing nanny to a human! The injustice!"

Margaret, Emily's mother, overheard the parrot's lamentations and couldn't help but join the conversation. "Squacky, dear, Emily is a brave girl, and we trust you to look out for her. Besides, you're not just a parrot anymore. You're Emily's guardian."

Squacky ruffled his feathers, seemingly unimpressed. "Guardian, protector, babysitter... What's next? Chauffeur, chef, therapist?"

Emily giggled at the parrot's complaints, her laughter filling the air. "Don't be silly, Squacky. You're the coolest guardian a girl could have."

Squacky couldn't help but preen his feathers in response to the compliment, a hint of pride breaking through his gruff facade. He might grumble, but deep down, he couldn't deny the warmth he felt in this newfound role, even if it meant enduring a name that irked him to no end.
