Chapter 31 - Tiers and Privileges

The following day, Aaron, the girls, and the commanders gathered in the conference room within the military base. It was a serious meeting to discuss their progress on various tasks, from teaching survivors to secure defenses and forage for supplies. Emily, with a determined look on her face, stood behind Aaron, her small hands meticulously braiding his hair, a task she had taken on with utmost seriousness.

Aaron sat at the head of the table, his expression a mixture of thoughtful concern and leadership. His half braided hair, courtesy of Emily's adorably diligent efforts. With the survivors' well-being in mind, they began discussing the challenges they had encountered in their assigned tasks.

Chloe spoke first, her voice steady and composed, "We've been working with the survivors on defense strategies. They're eager to learn, but many lack combat experience. Teaching them requires patience and repetition."

Aaron nodded, acknowledging the difficulty of training survivors who had no prior combat skills. "Keep at it, Chloe. You're doing great work. We'll need as many capable fighters as possible."

Favour chimed in, "I've been coordinating efforts to secure our perimeter. Some survivors aren't taking it seriously, but we've made progress. It's just a matter of convincing every one of the importance of fortifications."

Aaron leaned forward, his eyes focused. "Favour, work on their motivation. Stress the significance of safety. We can't afford any breaches in our defenses."

Eliza, with her metal-bending abilities, reported on the challenges of integrating the now-defeated soldiers into their survivor group. "Some of the soldiers are finding it hard to adapt to our new leadership. They're used to giving orders, not following them. It's causing tension within our ranks."

Aaron contemplated the situation. "Let's approach this delicately, Eliza. We need their skills, but they must understand that we're a united group. Work with them, and help them see the benefits of cooperation."

Harmony shared her insights into the survivors' progress in combat. "Many of them are showing promise, but it's crucial to identify their strengths and weaknesses. That way, we can tailor their training to maximize their potential."

Aaron's eyes shone with approval. "Excellent, Harmony. Let's focus on honing their individual skills. A well-rounded team will serve us better."

Audrey, spoke next. "We've been experimenting with controlled burns to create clearings around our base. However, it's a delicate process, and we've had a few close calls."

Aaron nodded, recognizing the importance of controlled burns for safety and visibility. "Safety first, Audrey. If it's too risky, we'll have to explore alternative methods."

Charles, who had shown impeccable accuracy with his aim, addressed their need for ammunition. "Ammo is running low, and we're in need of supplies. I've scouted potential locations, but some are crawling with zombies."

Aaron's gaze was unwavering as he contemplated their predicament. "Charles, we'll need those supplies. Plan a mission to secure them, and we'll provide backup."

As the meeting continued, Aaron showcased his leadership abilities by addressing each challenge methodically, providing solutions, and instilling confidence in his team. They discussed strategies, contingency plans, and the best ways to ensure the safety and well-being of the survivors.

Emily, having finished braiding Aaron's hair, sat beside him with an air of accomplishment. Her small hands rested on the table as she listened to the conversation, proud to be a part of the team's efforts.

After the discussions had concluded and the various tasks and challenges had been addressed, Aaron leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. The rest of the team looked to him, waiting for his final words on the matter.

"Thank you all for your hard work and dedication," Aaron began, his voice carrying the weight of their shared responsibilities. "But as we move forward, I believe it's time to formalize our structure and responsibilities within the group."

Emily, who had been listening attentively throughout the meeting, looked up at Aaron with wide eyes, her curiosity piqued.

With a confident tone, Aaron continued, "I've been thinking about creating a ranking system that reflects our unique abilities and contributions. This will not only streamline our decision-making but also ensure that each of us plays to our strengths."

Favour raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Aaron's proposal. "A ranking system? How would that work?"

Aaron began, his tone steady and commanding. "We'll implement a tier-based structure, each with its own responsibilities and authority. At the highest tier, we have Tier 1, 'The Apex.' That will be my role as the overall leader. I'll oversee our strategic direction, security, and major decision-making."

Isabella, his trusted assistant and confidante, occupied the Tier 2 position. Her role was to oversee operations and make decisions when Aaron was unavailable, her words second only to his in terms of authority.

Tier 3 consisted of Harmony, Audrey, Favour, Joy, Chloe, and Charles. Each member had a distinct role within the organization:

Harmony, as the 'Base Operations', oversaw logistics, resource allocation, and maintenance..

Audrey, the 'Battle master,' was responsible for combat training and readiness.

Favour, in charge of ''Tactician,' would handle strategic planning and decision-making during missions

Joy assumed the role of 'Tier 3 Coordinator,' ensuring effective communication and coordination within the tier.

Chloe, as the 'Strategist,' contributed to long-term planning and resource management.

Charles, the 'Marksman Captain,' continued to lead the team's ranged combat efforts and scouting.

Tier 4 comprised Elize and Frank, who were responsible for support roles and assisting with various tasks within the organization.

Emily, the youngest and smallest member of their group, had yet to be assigned a tier. She pouted cutely, feeling left out, but Aaron assured her that she would have a role when she was older.

Squacky, the amusingly disgruntled parrot, had expressed his desire for a role within the structure. In a playful moment, Aaron decided to create a fictitious position called 'Supreme Honorary Feathered Advisor' and awarded it to Squacky with exaggerated pomp and circumstance. Squacky believed the ruse, and his vanity was satisfied.

To ensure the efficiency of the new system, Aaron introduced a point-based hierarchy. Each member would earn points based on their contributions, leadership, and adherence to the group's rules. To move up a tier, they needed to accumulate a certain number of points and demonstrate exceptional commitment.

Privileges were granted to each tier, with Tier 1 enjoying the most extensive benefits, including decision-making authority and access to key resources. As the tiers descended, privileges diminished, culminating in Tier 10, where members were basically slaves.

However, Aaron made it clear that demotion and removal from tiers were possible if individuals failed to comply with the rules or meet the necessary criteria. It was a system designed to encourage teamwork, accountability, and efficiency, ensuring that everyone played a role in their group's success.

He decided to provide more clarity about how the point system would help members move up in tiers.

"Aaron," Elize began, her metallic attire reflecting the dim room's light, "I understand the idea behind the tier system, but could you explain how these points work in practice?"

Aaron nodded, leaning back in his chair. "Of course, Elize. The point system is designed to reward and promote individuals who consistently contribute to our group's goals and maintain the standards we've set."

Elize listened intently, her curiosity piqued. "And how do these points translate into promotions?"

"Good question," Aaron replied, his tone thoughtful. "To move up a tier, you'll need to earn a specific number of points. For example, to advance from Tier 4 to Tier 3, you might need to accumulate 100 points. We will work out those details later"

Elize nodded, absorbing the information. "And how do we earn these points?"

Aaron smiled, appreciating her engagement. "Points can be earned through various means, like successful mission completion, resource gathering, training efforts, and even demonstrating leadership skills. The more you contribute and excel in your role, the more points you'll accumulate."

Elize considered this, her eyes reflecting the glow of the room's dim lights. "So, it's a way to recognize and reward those who go above and beyond?"

"Exactly," Aaron affirmed. "It's our way of ensuring that everyone has a chance to progress based on merit and dedication. It's not just about the number of points, though; it's about what you do for the group and how you support our mission and also to punish those that refuse to obey or commit crimes. They would be tier ten which basically means servants. My leadership skill can create a brand on each of my individuals and also allows me to control them to a certain extent"
