Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: World Council

Edward's expression suggested that there was an important matter to address. He spoke to Max with a solemn tone, hinting at a significant concern.

"Max, indeed, there is a serious issue we need to address before we proceed to serve the Baron and his guests," Edward said, his voice carrying a weighty concern.

Then, Edward asked Max a critical question, "Do you possess a mana-chef certificate?"

Max was caught off guard by this inquiry. From what he had gleaned from David's memories, David had sought a chef's certificate to work in the Baron's mansion. However, Max had no prior knowledge of a mana chef certificate.

Perplexed, he inquired further, "Is there any distinction between a regular chef certificate and a mana chef certificate, Chef Edward?"

Edward let out a sigh, and his tone grew more serious as he responded, "Sigh~ It appears you don't possess the certificate, Max. This presents us with a significant problem, my boy." His voice carried a blend of concern and apprehension, indicating that the situation was indeed grave.

Chef Edward took a deep breath, his face etched with concern.

"Max, it's essential that you understand our continent's policies regarding mana chefs.

You see, becoming a mana chef isn't just a matter of culinary skill; it's a tightly regulated profession. To practice as a mana chef and serve dishes infused with mana, one must possess a Mana Chef Certificate issued by the World Council. It's a stringent process involving exams, evaluations, and apprenticeships under-recognized mana chefs."

Max absorbed this information with growing apprehension. The weight of the situation was beginning to dawn on him. "So, Chef Edward, what does this mean for us? I don't have this Mana Chef Certificate."

Edward let out a heavy sigh, his voice carrying both concern and determination.

"Well, Max, it means we have a significant problem on our hands. Without that certificate, serving mana-infused dishes, no matter how exceptional, is strictly prohibited by the council's regulations."

Max's confusion was palpable, his thoughts a whirlwind of uncertainty. The world of mana chefs and certificates was entirely foreign to him, and he was eager for clarity.

"Chef Edward," Max ventured cautiously, "I have many questions and doubts about all of this. May I ask, where these certificates come from, and what is this world council you're referring to?"

Chef Edward's sigh conveyed the weight of the information he was about to share, and he posed a question to Max, hoping to gauge his knowledge.

"Max, before we dive into all of this, do you have any understanding of the geography and history of our world?" Edward inquired.

'shake! shake!'

Max, with a shake of his head, admitted his ignorance, signaling to Edward that he was starting from scratch.

"In our world, Aiden," Edward began to explain, "there are two continents: the North Continent, where we currently reside, and the South Continent.

The North Continent is a land exclusively inhabited by humans and the enigmatic creatures of the 'Abyss Forest.'

In contrast, the South Continent boasts a diverse array of species, including Elves, Dwarves, demi-humans, humans, dragons, beast-men, and many others.

The North Continent's unique characteristic lies in a mysterious curse that prevails there, preventing any other races from thriving.

Those of different races who dare to settle in this region meet a grim fate, succumbing to the curse's effects.

As for governance, various empires and kingdoms held sway over their respective territories on both continents.

Each realm is ruled by its own set of laws and traditions, contributing to the rich tapestry of cultures and societies that exist in Aiden."

Edward delved further into the intricate history of Aiden.

"Around a century ago, mysterious portals opened in both the North and South Continents, leading to two new realms inhabited by demons and vampires, respectively.

Surprisingly, there hasn't been any conflict or hostility between the two continents. However, powerful clans from these realms sought to conquer each continent.

Despite their attempts, they couldn't send large forces to Aiden due to dimensional limitations, preventing direct interference in our world. Instead, they resorted to manipulation and inciting wars."

Edward paused for a moment before highlighting the pivotal role played by dragons.

"It was the mighty dragons who intervened before wars could erupt. These ancient beings are tasked with maintaining peace in our world. Their actions foiled the plans of the demons and vampires, preventing widespread conflict.

The dragons united all the kingdoms and empires on both continents to form an alliance known as the World  Council.

The seats of these World Council is held by the heads of different races or you can say the emperor and king of different  kingdoms."

"To bridge the vast gap between the North and South Continents, where there were no direct teleportation gates, powerful magicians created a colossal floating island between them."

Edward continued, "This island-like land, known as the Central Floating Continent, occupies a space roughly half the size of a regular continent. The World  Council governs this newly formed landmass, acting as the ultimate authority in our world's affairs."

Max listened intently, absorbing this newfound knowledge about the world he had been thrust into.

It was clear that Aiden was a place of immense complexity and history, a land where magic and politics intertwined in ways he had never imagined.

Edward proceeded to the crux of the matter. "Now, Max, the World Council plays a significant role in our world.

They have established various rules and regulations to ensure peace and order. One of these rules pertains to mana chefs."

Max furrowed his brows, his curiosity piqued. "Mana chefs? What's the connection between them and the World  Council?"

Edward clarified, "Mana chefs are an integral part of Aiden's culture. They are culinary experts who specialize in infusing mana into food, creating dishes that not only taste extraordinary but also offer various magical benefits. These chefs are highly respected and sought after, especially by nobility and powerful individuals."

Max nodded, beginning to see the importance of mana chefs in this world. "So, what's this about a mana chef certificate?"

Edward's expression grew somber. "Max, to become a recognized mana chef, one must obtain a Mana Chef Certificate issued by the World  Council. This certificate signifies that you are not only a skilled chef but also well-versed in the art of mana infusion and the responsible use of mana in cooking.

This certificate gives you  not only the freedom to become a mana chef but also fame and fortune."

Max was taken aback. This was entirely new information to him. "Chef Edward, I understand the importance of these certificates, but why is it such a big deal that I don't have one?"

Edward sighed once more, his gaze fixed on Max.

"You see, Max, the World  Council strictly regulates mana chefs because the power they wield through their dishes can be immense.

Without proper training and oversight, the uncontrolled use of mana in cooking can have dire consequences. There have been instances of mana chefs inadvertently causing harm or chaos due to their lack of knowledge or restraint."

Max began to grasp the gravity of the situation. "So, you're saying that my lack of a Mana Chef Certificate could be a problem?"

Edward nodded gravely. "Precisely. Without that certificate, you are not officially recognized as a mana chef by the Council. Each mana chef provides an ID card after they pass the exam; we call this a certificate or some call it the name ID.

Your actions could be seen as illegal or dangerous, even if your intentions are good. Serving mana-infused food without the proper credentials is a serious offense in the eyes of the Council."

Max's mind raced as he tried to comprehend the implications.

"Is there any way to rectify this? Can I obtain the certificate?"

Edward's response was cautious.

"It's not impossible, Max, but it won't be easy. The World  Council conducts rigorous examinations and assessments to ensure that mana chefs are qualified and responsible.

To earn your certificate, you'd need to undergo training, pass their examinations, and prove your expertise.

But before that, you need a mentor, without a mentor's recommendation you cannot become a mana chef, but you can become a normal chef without any recommendation.

The profession of a mana chef is exceptionally challenging and demanding due to its scarcity compared to traditional chefs worldwide.

Listen, Max, after the World Council is formed they regulate each profession such as magic, swordsman, spearmen, teaching, chef, mana-chef, etc.

In every kingdom capital, there is a branch of the council; you can go there and take your respective exam."

Max was determined. He couldn't afford to let this obstacle stand in his way. "Chef Edward, I'm willing to do whatever it takes. I don't want to cause any trouble or break any laws. Please, guide me in the right direction."
