Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Disciple

Inside the bustling kitchen, tension hung heavily in the air, and silence enveloped every corner, not a single drop of sound to be heard.

Max was deep in thought when suddenly, Edward gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

"I appreciate your willingness to learn and your dedication to the culinary arts, Max. We'll figure this out together."

Feeling encouraged by Edward's support, Max nodded in gratitude. His determination to become a recognized mana chef burned brighter than ever, despite the obstacles.

If it is  Max's previous world, obtaining a license or certificate might have been a straightforward process, but in Aiden, things were far more complex.

The primary challenge wasn't just the numerous steps involved but also the requirement of securing approval from an existing mana chef.

As Max contemplated the intricacies of the situation, he began to understand that the path to becoming a recognized mana chef in Aiden was more arduous than it initially seemed.

The need for mentorship and endorsement added an extra layer of complexity to the process.

He couldn't help but think, 'It's not as simple as it appears,' realizing that the journey ahead would be filled with challenges and uncertainties.

"So, I have a proposal for you, child. Will you listen to it?" Max was taken aback by the sudden declaration from Chef Edward.

"Please go ahead, Mr. Edward," Max replied with a warm smile, eager to hear what the proposal entailed. The weight of the mana chef certificate issue still rested heavily on his mind, but he trusted Edward's guidance.

Edward's eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope as he prepared to elaborate. "Max, while it's undeniably challenging and time-intensive to acquire a mana chef certificate, there is a potential solution.

Would you consider becoming my apprentice? I'm in need of a capable disciple to whom I can impart my knowledge. In exchange, I'd be more than willing to provide you with a recommendation letter for your mana chef examination."

The revelation had a profound impact on the other chefs who were present in the kitchen. They were taken aback by the unexpected turn of events.

Some among them felt a strong desire to vie for Chef Edward's acknowledgment and mentorship, realizing the tremendous opportunity that Max had just been offered.

However, they also understood that Chef Edward had never taken on a disciple before, making the competition for his approval exceedingly fierce.

In the Lionheart Kingdom, where only twelve mana chefs existed, including Chef Edward, the chance to become a disciple was a coveted prize.

Emotions ran high among the other chefs. Some were envious of Max's good fortune, while others couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy. Yet, there were those who genuinely felt happiness for Max, recognizing the unique path he was about to embark upon.

The kitchen atmosphere was charged with a mix of ambition, envy, and anticipation as they all processed the momentous news.

Max leaned in attentively, intrigued by Edward's proposal. He realized that a solution might be within reach, and he was ready to seize it.

"Chef Edward, it would be an honor to learn from a seasoned expert like you," Max replied with a warm smile, his determination shining through.

Max's elation was palpable as he contemplated the opportunity that had unexpectedly presented itself. In a remote region of Aiden, where he had limited connections and no knowledge of any mana chefs, this chance was akin to finding an oasis in a desert.

His determination surged as he resolved not to let this golden opportunity slip through his fingers.

Max was keenly aware of the rarity and significance of such an offer, and he was determined to make the most of it, embarking on a journey to master the art of mana-infused cooking under Chef Edward's guidance.

Max was jolted out of his shock when he heard Edward's voice.

"Kid, let's go. Allow me to introduce you to the Baron and his guests before serving the food. Since you don't possess a mana certificate, serving them food as my disciple won't be a problem."

"Of course, Chef Edward. I'm ready," Max replied, his previous worries momentarily pushed aside.

It was time to meet the Baron and his esteemed guests, present his mana-infused chicken soup, and showcase the culinary skills he had honed in his previous life.

This was his chance to make a memorable impression and potentially open the door to a new chapter in his culinary journey.

Edward swiftly took charge of the situation, issuing orders to the kitchen staff. "Andy, Mark, please make the necessary arrangements for the Baron and his esteemed guests. Contact Ana and have her clean the VIP dining hall.

Also, ensure the prompt transfer of the delectable dishes Max has prepared to the dining room. We anticipate our return in just 10 minutes with our honored guests."

With a sense of purpose, Max and Edward readied themselves for the upcoming meeting. As they made their way out of the bustling kitchen, Edward's voice echoed once more.

This time, he directed his instructions to the two chefs who remained in the kitchen.

The atmosphere in the kitchen was charged with a mix of excitement, curiosity, and a touch of envy.

Max's sudden rise and the prospect of him becoming Edward's disciple had stirred various emotions among the other chefs. Some were eager to learn from Max's experience, while others were envious of his opportunity.

As they stepped away from the kitchen, Max couldn't help but feel a blend of nervousness and anticipation.

The prospect of serving the Baron and his esteemed guests, coupled with the offer to become Edward's disciple, had set the stage for a remarkable journey into the world of mana-infused cuisine.
