Chapter 6 - she is my wife

"You bitch!" Miss Anderson pushed her face flat, just before she could kiss the floor with her stomach, she was caught by two strong muscular arms. The person's familiar scent wafted through her nose, it's like her baby could feel it too because she kicked.

"Are you okay?" Maxwell asked, he helped her to her feet, his eyes glued on her baby bump. "You are.."

Morgana pushed his hands away, "Thank you for helping me, sir." She smiled and turned to leave.

Little Miss Anderson wasn't done talking, "Where the hell do you think you are going and who gave you the right to disrespect Mr. Mayor?" She was about to pull Morgana's hair but was stopped by Maxwell, he gently pushed her back and stood in between them.

"Why are you protecting her? You saved her from falling but she is treating you like you are nothing, let me teach her a lesson." Miss Anderson huffed.

"Miss Anderson I'm trying so hard not to punish you for trying to hurt her, if you are not willing to buy anything then please leave this mall before I throw you out." His veins on his neck were popping out, Maxwell was trying to keep his anger at bay.

"What? How dare you talk to me like that? All for what? All for this lowlife?!" She yelled, her cheeks red with embarrassment. She has never been this embarrassed in her entire life.

"Call my wife a lowlife one more time and I'll make sure your family grumbles to the dust." Not only was Miss Anderson shocked, but the little crowd that had formed were also shocked. An audible gasp erupted from the mouths of everyone including Morgana.

First, he found her, secondly, he is aware of the pregnancy and thirdly he just told everyone in this room that she is his wife.

"What did you say?" Morgana asked, she didn't even know when she asked that question.

He turned to her and locked eyes with her "I said you are my wife."

"But.. but..but" Miss Anderson couldn't even form a good and complete sentence, she has insulted the wife of Maxwell Mayor, and this is not going to end well.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Mayor, I didn't know you were his wife, if I had known I wouldn't have insulted you. I didn't expect the wife of Mr. Mayor to be working in a Mall." Miss Anderson begged, this is more embarrassing but she had to do it, to save her family from hitting rock bottom because of her.

"There's no reason for that Miss Anderson, but you should know how you treat people. Just because you are well off, it doesn't give you the right to treat others like trash. You don't know what tomorrow holds and you don't know where you'll fall tomorrow or in the hands of whom." Morgana mumbled and left, she tried her best to run away from him. She can't let him take her baby away. He is doing all of this because of the baby in her womb, he is going to kill her and take the baby when she is born.

This is the theory Morgana came up with, she didn't even wait to confirm why he was here, why he wanted her, why he claimed that she was still his wife when they were divorced. She went to the manager's office.

"I was about to come down, what was the noise about? I heard people arguing."

"Nothing, it has been settled. I'm not feeling well, can I please leave early?" She requested.

"I've told you to go on leave for a long time now but you wouldn't listen, I don't want something to happen to you or the baby." Her manager said.

"Since you've granted her the leave, I'll take her home." Maxwell who just opened the door without knocking said. "Sorry for my terrible manners, I should have knocked but I was trying to reach my runaway wife." He smiled.

"Wife? Mr Mayor don't tell me Morgana is your wife." The manager was in shock just like everyone else who was watching the scene from earlier, he was too stunned to speak after asking that question.

The smile on Maxwell's face was enough to answer for him. "Please take her with you," he managed to say. Maxwell chuckled, he placed both of his hands on each side of her shoulder and guided her out of the office.

When they got outside, she pushed his hand away "Thank you for helping me in there but there was no need to tell everyone that I am your wife Maxwell. I was your wife but not anymore, we are divorced, and there's nothing linking me to you anymore." She forced a smile but it came grumbling down like the walls of Jericho.

"Are you sure there's nothing linking us together?" He asked staring at her stomach, she placed a hand on her stomach.

"If you didn't see me as your husband you would have made it clear in there but you didn't Morgana."

"I only didn't say anything because I didn't want to stir trouble for you, you saved me, I had to do the same and now we are even."

"M please let's talk, please get in the car and let's talk." He begged.

"There's nothing to talk about, please let's go our separate ways." The tears she had been holding since they met flowed freely down her rosy cheeks. Maxwell hugged her, but not too tight, he was scared of hurting the little one inside of her.

"No, Maxwell, please, please don't do this. Don't make me think you want me, don't give me hope, please." She sobbed, her tears stained his tailored suit but he didn't give a damn about it.

"That's because I want you, that's because I can't live without you. I've been a beast since you left, I don't want to go back to being that person. Don't make me go back to being that person." His words were like a sword piercing through her heart.

"Let me take you home M or let's just get into the car and talk, please." He released her from the comfortable hug and cupped her cheeks, he locked eyes with her. Those beautiful brown eyes he knew looked dull, they weren't as bright as they used to be.
