Chapter 91 - Chapter 91 -- What did Chris say

"As expected of the mighty Zane, actually if you hadn't noticed us we would have thought that dude lied" A man clad in all black walked from behind a building.

Zane didn't recognize this man's voice "Let me guess, you want to rob me or something?" he snickered.

"Do I look like a bandit to you?" the man asked, opening his arms.

"No, to me you look like a dead man walking" Zane answered with a smile. The expression of the man changed to one of annoyance but he didn't lose his cool.

He nodded his head once and Zane heard four footsteps surrounding him. Zane was sure that he could easily dispatch all these men as long as none of them were elite.

Since he was a student of Old man, there were naturally other mortals who were students of the other High Mages.

However since the man said he didn't want to rob him "What do you guys want then?" he asked. If he could avoid a fight he would.

"I want you to help us breakthrough" the leader said. Visible shock could be seen plastered on Zane's face.

"What did you just say?" he asked just to be sure.

"You aren't deaf nor blind Zane so just cut the crap we know all about you" the man said.

Zane could feel his anger rising "Who told you whatever you think you know about me?" he asked with fists clenched.

"We don't need to answer that, get him boys" The man ordered.

"Wait!!" Zane shouted.

"Do you have a death wish?, if you know about me you should also know that you don't stand a chance so instead of trying to force me, why don't you just ask me politely?." Zane said.

"Okay, can you please..." the man was Interrupted by Zane's sudden disappearance. He almost thought Zane was running away, that's when he noticed one of his men was missing a head.

He then heard another sound and moved his focus to that position, only to see that another one of his men was on the ground. "I.. impossible!" the man said.

The events he was seeing only meant Zane's wasn't mortal, which meant that man at the bar was lying!.

Zane easily dashed from man to man ending them all with a punch or kick. With Zane's physical power he could move a distance of 5 meters by pushing his legs off the ground with force.

Of course, the skulls of the bandits also didn't stand a chance against his physical might. They couldn't keep up with his speed and they couldn't block his attacks, they're fates were sealed as soon as they thought of following Zane.

"Sorry to interrupt you, what was that?" Zane asked with a smile. The man was terrified as he stood there with shaking knees. He cursed his luck, if only he hadn't listened to that guy.

"Who told you about me?" Zane asked as he cleaned the blood off his hands with a cloth he took from his ring.

"It was a man at the Dancing Rum tavern" the man said.

"Do you know this man?" Zane asked.

"No I've never seen him before"

"So this man just came up to you and said 'hey did you know that Zane can make mages?'". Zane was getting frustrated.

"No he wasn't telling me, he was talking to David and his team"

"Did he happen to have long straight hair?"

"Yes"

Zane nodded, it was obvious who this man divulging his secrets was.

"Fine, you can go" Zane waved the man off.

"What!?" the man was obviously surprised.

"Do you want me to change my mind?" Zane said.

"No sir, thank you sir" The man turned tail and ran as fast as his leg could carry him. A few seconds later, he fell to the ground with an arrow going through his brain.

"Fuck Chris!" Zane shouted. He knew Chris would do something, but he never imagined it would be this!. If he wanted to tell David and the others his secrets the least he could do was tell them discreetly!.

<> Alex said.

"Yeah you're right"

Zane knew that this secret would only get him in trouble with mortals who haven't broken through. And the mortals who had the strength to actually pose a problem to Zane could be counted on one hand.

Only the elites could challenge him and with the tournament around the corner, everyone was polishing up on their skills. They wouldn't have the time to search for Zane at all.

<> Alex asked.

Zane furrowed his brows as he thought about Alex's words.

It was very possible that Chris told people more. "The only other thing Chris knows is my inventory skill" Zane mumbled "If he also told people about that, it would be a problem".

If Chris had only told David's team, Zane wouldn't be worried. After all, he would have told them one day anyway since he would be joining them full time soon.

Zane knew that David and the others might even help him when the time comes were he needs to escape from people looking to interrogate him about his abilities.

<

'What is it?'

<> Alex said.

"Yeah so?"

<>

"So Chris might also be telling lies about me" Zane mumbled in realization.

<>

<>

"Told a lie which might make stronger people come after me" Zane finished Alex's words.

<> Alex joked.

"We need to find out everything he told people" Zane suddenly turned around and took off running in the direction opposite to his house.

<>

"To the Dancing Rum tavern" Zane said, he was so preoccupied that he didn't realize that he had been speaking to Alex out loud. So naturally the few people on the street looked at him weirdly.

With Zane's speed, he arrived at the tavern in less than 5 minutes, and he immediately entered. The first thing he did was look towards their table, no one was there.

Zane went to the table and sat down before signaling for the waitress. "Hey Zane, what can i get you?" the waitress asked.

Even though Zane wasn't well known or famous, he was part of David's team and was obviously a regular at the tavern so the waitress knew him.

"What did Chris say about me?" Zane got straight to the point.

"I don't know what you're talking about" the waitress said.

"What did Chris say about me?" Zane repeated his question, but this time also sliding a gold coin onto the table.

"You can turn mortals into Mages, you have a separate space on your body which isn't a storage ring, you aren't blind and you have the lightning element" The waitress immediately poured out everything she knew.

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on which side you're on, she didn't hear everything that was said by Chris because she was working. But she had heard rumors that Zane wanted to rob David's team.

She, however decided to hold off on this information because if David was going to kill Zane, she didn't want to be the one responsible for alerting him and or causing him to escape.

"Thanks" Zane rolled another coin onto the table before leaving. As soon as he left the tavern, he dashed home, hoping to find Chris and pummel him until his bones became fine powder.
