Chapter 29 - 29_Teacher Davis

*************************

'What is wrong?" Alex said, he came out of nowhere causing me to jolt and lose my balance, I almost fell down the stairs but before I could tumble, his arm snaked around my waist and grabbed me. When I regained my balance I pulled away, tucking my hair behind my ear.

"Thank you," I said.

"You should be careful," Alex replied.

"Then you shouldn't surprise me like that," I said.

"About what happened..."

"...Bye," I said before he could complete his words, I scurried away running down the stairs while he trailed behind me, trying to catch up.

"Hey--wait!" He called but I ran without looking behind.

I got to class and the students were getting settled, I took a seat next to Bea and Alex came in shortly after, he glanced at me and I turned my gaze elsewhere.

He ran his fingers through his hair and sat in front, next to VC. The teacher came in less than a minute and we exchanged some pleasantries.

Teacher Davis was our Defense and combat trainer\teacher, I never participated in his classes because of the delay in the awakening of my powers. I just sat and watched, and honestly, it was much cooler than actually participating, I wouldn't want to be in those beaten students' shoes.

Teacher Davis called on a boy who could make things vanish and re-appear with a snap (Object teleportation), the class was as empty as a graveyard, only for a total of thirty students standing in rows. The classes were soundproof so the yells and groans of the losing students won't get out and affect other students in their class.

I sat at the corner, watching them, Bea was paired with Danielle, the Bee controller and also one of Charlotte's coheirs. Bea was on Defense while Danielle was on offense.

"Today am gonna show you how to effectively defend yourselves and others using your powers. You will also learn combat techniques, strategies for using your powers in battle, and how to work as a team to maximize the effects of your abilities," Teacher Davis said with a smile. He seemed like one of the kindest teachers in the school, but there was something off about him.

I had this strange feeling deep down that this man was up to no good. Even if he seemed nicer than Teacher Wayne, I felt his niceness was a mask.

"First, Danielle and Beatrice are gonna spar, and we will be focusing on the defense," Teacher Davis said.

"Now Danielle, I want you to attack as hard as you can, hurt her by all means," He said.

You see, right there, there was something off about this teacher, how could he encourage a student to hurt another?

The students looked like they were too dumb to understand, but I wasn't stupid, I knew what I was seeing, and I trusted my instincts.

"With pleasure Teacher Davis,'' Danielle said with a wicked smirk, walking towards Beatrice.

"Ohh, I love a good offense," Bea said and her palms began to glow a faint green light.

"The buzz of bees was heard and a swarm of them came in through the window, they weren't attacking or stinging anyone but just stood behind their queen, waiting for orders.

"Start," Teacher Davis said, and as if that was the order they were waiting for the Bees headed directly to Beatrice. Bea's palm glowed brighter and the grounds of the class began to rumble, a fly trap, a lot of them, those plants with sharp teeth or whatever they were emerged from the ground, catching the Bees and eating them.

Bea's defense was top notch, Danielle was running out of bees, and she decided to exert force causing the class to swarm with Bees, it was too much that the students were moving backward so they wouldn't be mistakenly stung.

Beatrice decided to switch up her defenses, she grew flowers, pretty flowers, a ton of them, covering the entire class with beautiful radiant blossoms. Instantly, the bees made their way to the buds.

Danielle was helpless, she couldn't do a thing because Beatrice's defense was a clever method, Bees were attracted to flowers and since Beatrice was a nature controller, Danielle was no match for her because bees are also a part of nature.

"Enough," Teacher Davis said and the flowers withered and the Bees dispersed.

"That was a very good start, but there are a lot of things you could do with your powers that you haven't even unveiled," Teacher Davis said, clapping for the contenders.

"Liam and Charlotte please come on stage and give us a show, since you two are top students with your powers, it wouldn't be so hard, would it?" Teacher Davis said and with a sigh, Charlotte walked up on stage, and Liam followed.

"Now, Charlotte will take the offense and Liam handle the defense," The teacher said and Charlotte smirked wickedly, electricity began to crack and progress on her body.

"Ready?" She asked and Liam took his stance. The room turned darker although it was day, dark folds just like thick smoke covered the windows leaving the class in a dark void. Dark wisps of smoke circulated his body making a slithering sound as if his darkness was alive.

Without wasting a second, Charlotte discharged her volts, Liaw was quick enough to form a dark Barrier but it was too small since he didn't have enough time to form a bigger one, it was so small that he had to kneel with a leg while trying to thrust forward with his Barrier.

Charlotte still had that wicked smirk on her face and when she saw that her powers couldn't pass through his Barrier she decided to harness it by channeling from the clouds, tearing the fold that blocked the windows.

Impressively, she absorbed the lightning with her right hand while using her left to push forth with the attack. It came as a tsunami of electricity, trying to tear through the barrier like it did the fold, that could seriously hurt Liam if it got through, I thought she and Liam had a thing why was she planning on hurting him, or worse it might kill him? She did the same in Teacher Wayne's class when she discharged a lot of electricity to the gauntlets they made and it began to fry.

Teacher Davis was supposed to stop this, this was a dense and combat training class, not a channeling class, why is he allowing her to channel lightning from the clouds when he should forbid it?

I began to panic, I didn't know why but my heart began to race in my chest, I unexpectedly stood up, and I could feel sweat dripping down my face.

It looked as if Charlotte just leveled up and was having a hard time controlling that amount of power. Liam on the other hand, we couldn't see through his slithering clouds of darkness barrier, but we knew he was having a hard time keeping up.

"Ok that's enough," Alex said, noticing his brother's barrier was weakening.

"Almost there Charlotte, you are almost tearing through his barrier, just keep it going," Teacher Davis said, motivating Charlotte to keep going.

"I said that's enough!" Alex said pressing his two fingers on his temples and outstretching his other hand, causing a gush of the telekinetic wave to hit Charlotte, sending her off balance and crashing into the entrance door.
