Chapter 4 - Chapter 2

The two serpents appeared with Khari at the entrance of the cave where they put him. He was still bleeding from the piercing from the spear. He crawled to the rock close to the cave. He looked at his wound and groaned in pain. "Damn you Imani." He whispered. Pea and Path each lay on both side as they stood guard over their master and friend. Khari slowly closed his eyes and fainted due to his pain. The serpents didn't move from him. It was a couple minutes later when the young boy showed up from behind the woods heading towards the cave. The boy saw Khari bleeding and fainted he rushed towards him but Pea being overprotective of Khari she quickly hissed at him. He put his bag on the ground and raised his hands in surrender but the serpent was ready to attack him. "I am not going to hurt him. He is bleeding and I have to help him or he will die." He explained to the serpent in his head thinking he must be crazy for speaking to a gigantic python. He walked slowly towards Khari and the two serpents moved away to make way for him. "Oh you can understand me! Now that's interesting." He said as he moved quickly closer to Khari. He knelt next to him and grabbed his bag. He took out a leather gourmet with water. He opened the lid with his mouth and began pouring water on the wound. He tore his shirt and began wrapping the wound to stop the bleeding. He knew he had to take Khari back to the village to treat him properly or his would get infected. Khari still had his had bandaged with his other piece of shirt. The boy smiled. "I need to take him back to Mawone. My village, so I can treat him and take care of him." He said to the serpents as he took Khari's red robe off so he could carry him on his back. Pea hissed at him but Path hissed back at Pea and she backed down. The boy took this as a go ahead from Path so he put Khari on his back and carried him. "I promise to take good care of him for you. You can trust me." He told the two serpents who let him pass. They knew his scent and Path who was a bit older trusted him with their master and friend. Khari had treated them as their family, he took good care of them made sure they were fed, taken care of even when they were under the cold. His task had to be to keep them at bay and fight them but he instead had made them his family. They began feeding off each other and formed a strong bond. They cared for him and they were overprotective of him. Path liked the young boy because he sensed Khari needed a friend since she had always had her sister by her side she wanted that for him too. Seeing the young boy want to take care of Khari made her a happy serpent. The two serpents slithered back into the cave after seeing the young boy carry Khari off the his village.

The young boy carried Khari into his house. It was a normal house for an average family. He carefully put him down on the bed. And he rushed out to boil some water. He broke a few twigs of herbs and put in the water. He came back into the house with bowl of the water and a towel. He quickly took off the bandage from his stomach and began cleaning the wound with the warm water. He took a green paste he made from the herbs and plastered it all on the wound and then he put a clean piece of cloth on it as a bandage. When he was done he took Khari bandaged palm and unwrapped it. The wound was all healed up and there was no sign of him being cut. The boy just let out a silent laughter. "I knew you were weird. You are one those supernatural guardians huh." He said to himself laughing. He sat on the floor next to him drinking wine. He watched Khari sleeping and he couldn't help notice that without the makeup he was still drop dead gorgeous. "They must be punishing you for turning heads of women up there." He said referring to him being punished for being too handsome in his realm. The young boy took a closer look at him and swore he had never seen a man so beautiful. He shook his head and hit it with the other hand. "This is so weird and creepy, you fool!" He scolded himself. he continued to drink his wine and he fell asleep on the floor.

It was early in the morning when the sun was still rising and Khari slowly opened his eyes. His wound was from an immortal weapon so it would take time to heal. He could hear the birds chipping outside, he opened his eyes to an unfamiliar place. It was light and he smelled the aroma of herbs. He put his hand on his head and slowly turned his head to the side. He saw the young boy sleeping on the floor. He tried to sit up but his wound hurt him and he groaned in pain. He put his hand on top of the bandage and he smiled looking at it. He continued to sit up and he rested his head on the wall. "Foolish boy, you gave up your bed for a man like me." He said quietly. He rested his hand on his stomach watching the young boy sleeping. He saw a cup of water on the side table a took it to drink the water. It was painful for him to swallow so he coughed and the young boy woke up. He sprung up and rushed to the bed putting his hand on Khari's forehead. "Are you hurt? Are you feeling okay? Your fever has gone down." He asked Khari so many questions with his hand on his forehead. Khari didn't like being touched but somehow when this young boy touched him, he didn't move away. He just stared at the young boy who looked genuinely worried about him. The boy held his hand and sighed in relief. "I hope my bed was comfortable enough for you." The boy said to Khari smiling and he just nodded his head. "Your pythons, they are very overprotective of you but well they trusted me with you yesterday." He went to tell Khari as he still was holding his hand. Khari kept staring at the human boy. He was at loss for words so he didn't say anything. I am going to make you some soup so you can eat and then I will help you bath and clean u your wound." The young boy said to Khari as he let go of his hand and stood up but Khari grabbed his hand. "Human boy, uhm, where is my robe?" He quietly said to the boy and the boy smiled. "I left it with your pythons. Oh and the name is Nile not human boy." He replied him with a smile on his face. Khari didn't even flinch but he only just stared at Nile as he walked away from the bed to go and make soup. He lit a fire in the next room and began making soup for Khari. Khari watched Nile do his chore in silence. He let him him clean up and put a clean bandage on his wound. "It hasn't healed up yet? Why?" Nile asked Khari seeing that the other wound on his palm had healed up. Khari realized Nile knew he was supernatural. "It was from a supernatural weapon and it can hurt more than weapons or things from this world." He explained to him and he nodded his head. Nile took the bowl of soup and spoon and he began to blow on the the soup ready to feed Khari. Khari watched him carefully and when he filled up the spoon with soup trying to feed him Khari just stared at the spoon. "Open your mouth and eat your soup Serpent boy." Nile teased Khari and he almost choked. He slowly opened his mouth and ate the soup. "Your soup is not so bad." Khari said to Nile and Nile smiled showing his white teeth. "You are welcome. I figured someone like you can't say the words thank you." He replied Khari and Khari scoffed. Nile opened his huge eyes whilst smiling as he continued feeding Khari the soup. When he was done he gave him a cup of water and helped him get back to bed. "I am going to see your two friends now. I am guessing they are worried about you serpent boy." He said to Khari as he walked towards the door. Khari didn't say anything but he just smiled and slept on his back. He was still in pain and he needed to rest more.

Nile walked from his village back to the woods, he was carrying his bag and singing happily. He stopped and picked up a few fruits on the way for Khari. He walked for an hour and he was at the cave. He stood outside the cave peeping inside. He walked in slowly and stopped to light a torch, he held it up and as he walked a few paces in the cave was lit inside so he put his torch out and walked inside. He looked around the cave and it was just full of torches and nothing else. There were gold treasures everywhere and the boy wondered where all this gold had come from. He walked a bit further inside and he stood there with his hands on his hips. He didn't know if he had to call out to the snakes so he just stood there. He stood there looking everywhere, thinking maybe they were hiding under the gold but they didn't show up. He started walking towards the exit. He went and sat there with his legs crossed as he played with soil. As he sat there the two snakes slithered from the woods, he was busy playing with soil he didn't notice them. Pea slithered closer to the boy and she put her head very close to Nile's face. Nile lifted his face up and he screamed as he saw her head closer to his. "Oh my God! How are so close to me like that?" He asked as he stood up dusting himself up. The snake coiled itself just a little further from with her head held up high. Nile put his hands in his hips. "You did this on purpose didn't you? Ah I can not believe you just snuck on me!" He said to the snake laughing. The two serpents just coiled and looked at him. "Oh I had come to tell you that he is much better. I don't know his name but since he is your friend I call him serpent boy and he is doing quite fine." He explained happily to the serpents. He kept on swinging his hands to the front and backwards. The serpents kept moving their heads in motion coping what he was doing, he noticed it and smiled. He stopped swinging his hands and walked towards the two serpents. He clasped on of his palm and he slowly stretched his hand towards Pea's head. She didn't move her head so he slowly pat it's head. He smiled when he saw that the snake seemed to have warmed up to him and it didn't move away. He took his other hand and pat the other serpent who also didn't seem to be disturbed by it. Nile stood up straight with his head up. "I am Nile and I will look after your friend. I will also look after you." He formally introduced himself to the two serpents before running off. When he left the two serpents who were coiled up next to each other transformed into two human forms. They looked at each other and their bodies confused. It had been thousands of years since they had retained their human forms. They looked at the way the boy had gone and they wondered what it was about him that had them break their curse. "Sister! We can transform back ourselves!" Pea said as she ran to hug her sister who hugged her back with tears of joy. The two serpents had been pythons for as long as they could remember. They had been trained to kill, hunt and passed on from one master to the other who treated them as their hunting machines. Khari had taken care of them and showed them compassion when they had been in prison with them, this young boy had just showed them affection from the depth of his heart and it helped them to transform back. The two sisters ran into the cave holding hands.
