Chereads / Danmachi: Blessings of the Gods / Chapter 2 - Alexandros Falna

Chapter 2 - Alexandros Falna

Waking up after being dead, is a nasty feeling.

On the otherhand I didn't feel more alive.

But my body doesn't work the way it should and as I see my hand, I know why.

Those little hands can't belong to a body of a 26-year-old. Seems more like 5 or 6.

The body of a child again. Don't missed the missing coordination, I must say.

"Everybody, breakfast is ready.", I hear the voice of a woman from the door and now I finally

look around. I am on a bed in a big room, but the bed I am on isn't the only one.

There seems to be around 20 or 25 beds with children on them.

I don't believe Danmachi has boarding schools, so this must be an orphanage.

On the good side, I don't have to explain to new parents, how I changed so much,

but I still wished to be reincarnated in a loving home.

Can't change what's already settled, so I follow the other children downstairs.

The two workers here are two middle-aged women, who congratulate me on my 6th year here.

Because nobody knows the exact birthday of an orphan, the day he or she arrives here is their birthday.

Don't get me wrong, me becoming 6 has advantages and disadvantages.

I have time to prepare, but don't have the means or resources to train much now.

Well heaven seems to at least show slight favouritism.

"Now, Alex, as you already know, all those children who turn six search for jobs around the village to earn some food or money to help with the budget. Did you think of something you want to do?", the older one says. I think she was called Maggie by some of the kids just now.

Job? What would be a good job to prepare for my adventuring ahead.

And yes, I will become an adventurer. I have a Falna, so which braindead person would choose to be a civilian with gods gift?

"Maybe guard or hunter would be good?", I mumble but still was heard.

"That's too dangerous for children!", the other woman, Erina, chims in. Some children nod while looking at me as if I said something dumb.

"Can't one help a hunter or learn from a guard?", I ask.

Maggie says: "Sure, but most would be around 10 or 12 and not only be six. Just ask around the village if somebody needs help. If you can't find something today, I can ask some farmers. They always can use some helping hands."

"Okay, I'll go and ask around."

So after breakfast and washing up at the well outside, I left the orphanage.

Seeing my reflection in the water made me nostalgic. I looked like my old self, when I was little.

Black hair, this time more disheveled than in my past life and just reaching my lightblue eyes. Don't have as much baby fat as well. The food is barely enough and the orphanage can't feed us so much.

My body is on the lean side but quite tall for my age.

I still want to ask the hunters and guards for a job. So with the little memories about the settlement the kid left me with, I go to the guardstation next to the entry gate.

"Morning kid, can I help you?", a guard asks.

I try to answer as confident as possible: "Maybe. I want to be an apprentice here. Can I?"

"Aren't you a little young for that? How old are you boy?"

"6 years or more. Can't say for sure."

"So you are one of the kids from the orphanage. Sorry, but we only take children older than ten."

"No exceptions?"

"No exceptions!", he says vehemently. "It isn't easy to defend the village and you aren't fit enough yet. Come back in a few years, okay."

"Thanks." So no job here. Hopefully the hunters don't turn me down.

So I make my way to the hunters houses, who luckyly haven't left yet.

They live near the gate as they regularly go to the nearby forest.

"Hey there, can I ask who among you you is responsible about hunters?", I start the conversation.

The hunters looked confused at me and then to a man in their midst.

"Name is Kai. What is it you need, boy?", the man says. He is roughly 1,80 m and a little muscular.

Not as much as the guard from before, maybe because the hunters focus more on agility?

"I would like to work for you!"

"""Ha?""", not only he but the other hunters also seem perplexed.

"Are you saying you want to work as a hunter?"

"Exatly!"

"You aren't old enough. Come back..."

Before he can end his sentence, I interrupt: "I could be an apprentice learn. I learn fast and can also help with carrying the prey back."

"He can really be a supporter, Kai."

"Yeah, at least give the boy a chance."

"If he learns now, he will be more adapt when he is older."

So with the help of the other hunters, Kai surrenders.

"Fine. But you have to be near the group. Here is a backpack, if you can keep today,

we take you in. Otherwise you can try in a few years. Deal?"

"Deal!", I answer enthusiastic.

That worked better than I thought.

While the others finished their preparations, I think about my Falna and Falna I general.

General Falna need the god of the familia to update and show the data to the adventurer.

My Falna is a little special, as the god who sent me here bestowed me with his Falna.

He also gave me the information on it as I was sent to my new body.

He granted me his Blessing that allows me to access it on my own.
