The sun was shining bright it was neither too hot nor too windy ,just the perfect weather to sit outside and bask.The water flowing in the river,birds chirping and the leaves dancing to the wind all seemed to create a calming melody to her ears.A small smile was etched on her beautiful face as she sat on a rock in the river her feet dipped into the waters.Alone in this part of the forest Sabine enjoyed the silence ,away from her younger sister and mom who never seemed to get tired of talking.

Splashing the water lightly with her feet,her smile grew wider as a small crab crawled out under the rocks.

This part of the river didn't have many people who came by to wash clothes or bathe thus the water was clean. She splashed water on her face and hummed softly, "This is nice". An hour had passed since she came here and soon her sister Ellie would come looking for her.Talk of the devil and here she was , "Heey,you need to come home mama wants to send you somewhere". 

Sabine never understood where all this hate came from.She had tried so many times to ask her why she behaved that way only to get a snort in return. Whenever their mother left them with house chores,Sabine was the one to do them while Ellie sat outside under the tree shade to trim her eyebrows and add more colour as if they weren't dark enough already,now she looked like she had to thick worms on her face.Wanjiru never complained about it because telling her mother was of no use.She favoured Ellie more.
