"Ah hello Yuri, is that your teacher?" my mother asked, looking directly at Hana. Hana nervously laughed and nodded. "Yes, my name is Hana, nice to meet you ma'am." Hana greeted as politely as she possibly could. "Hi, Hana! Nice to finally meet you! Come on in, we were just waiting for you both to arrive." I led Hana inside and closed the door behind her. She slowly put her purse down on the floor and then sat down on the sofa beside me. "Do you mind if I get you some water?" My father asked, walking towards the kitchen. I shook my head. "No no, that's alright. Thank you." I said politely. "You're welcome! Let me know if you need anything okay? Your room should be upstairs near the stairs." He replied and then left us alone. "should we go see my old room?" I said.
Hana nodded enthusiastically. "Yea, let's go!" She jumped up from the couch excitedly and dragged me along with her. As soon as we entered my old room I immediately rushed over to the bed and jumped on the mattress. I let out a loud gasp as I fell back and then sat up to look at Hana. "Wow, look at it!" Hana grinned excitedly and clapped her hands in excitement. "It looks so different, like it used to be much smaller!" she said. After that we began exploring the room and then headed downstairs. When we arrived in the living room my mother and father were chatting about something, probably work related. They both looked up when they heard Hana's voice, and smiled when they noticed her. "Yuri, Hana, please join us. Dinner should be ready very soon." My mother announced and gestured towards one of the chairs across from her. "Of course!" Hana exclaimed in response. She and I sat down beside each other and my mother served us our dinner. "I hope your food is alright. This meal tastes pretty good, actually!" I complimented. "Thank you dear." My mother smiled happily. We continued eating peacefully for a little while until I spoke again. "Mom...why does everyone keep staring at me?" I asked curiously as I stole a glance at my father's direction and he was still glaring intently at Hana. What did I do wrong? I frowned worriedly and stared at my lap. I heard a sigh from beside me and then felt my mother wrap her arms around my shoulders. "Oh honey, don't worry too much about what people think. Everyone in the world has opinions about everyone. If people think that something is bad then it isn't necessarily bad. No matter what you decide to do, the important thing is that you aren't ashamed of yourself or embarrassed. Okay darling?" my mother reminded me and I nodded slowly. I don't know why my mother always seemed to know exactly what to say to comfort me and why she always knew what was best for me when others didn't even seem to care about that. After a few hours we finished eating and then my parents took the dishes into the kitchen and washed them before putting away everything.
"Now, I understand that this is sudden, but I wanted to ask you girls something," My mother said suddenly, interrupting the comfortable silence that had settled between all four of us. "Ask away," Hana responded confidently. My mother smiled at her fondly. "Are you two happy together?" She asked and I saw Hana blush slightly, but otherwise she kept her composure. "Yes! Of course we are!" Hana exclaimed. I smiled proudly at Hana and then looked towards my mother. "Yup, we are very happy together." I reassured them both. Hana leaned against my shoulder gently, resting her head against my shoulder comfortably. My mother smiled approvingly. "I'm glad to hear that." Then her eyes widened and she continued "I also wanted to give you some advice, Yuri. I know you said that you were planning to leave school because of your uncle and you might want to reconsider the decision. But I just want you to know that if anything happens to me, I don't want you to feel guilty. I never wanted you to feel responsible for what happened to me."
