As the night sky faded, the first light of day began to pierce the sky, shades of golden lights hue began to brighten the sky as the sun peeks over the edge of the realm casting it rays across the landscape.
The previous dark curtain that blocked the sun is nowhere to be found as the world is bathed in golden sun rays that illuminates everything it touches.
A man on a dragon horse wearing silky white robes with silver hair, steps out of a large manor with huge silver door, the guards at the front gate went on their knees the moment his dragon horse walked out.
The man in white robes stretches his hands out to feel the morning breeze whiles he raised his face towards the bright sun.
The warm rays of the sun light caresses the man face as he took in a deep breath.
"So warming and soothing, you never really get time to appreciate nature on the battle field, isn't it" he asked the men behind him.
They all nodded.
On the battle field no one has time to appreciate nature though they were close to it, they are always on high alert not letting their guard down for even a second.
Gu Shang pulled the rein of his horse and began to trot on.
On the streets all those who saw the Purple Qilin insignia went down on their knees as the cavalry escort passed them.
The people from the noble and aristocracies familles, who were in their carriages and those on their palanquins or horses all had to come down and bend the knee.
For the first time whether noble or common people, all went on their knees in front of the Prince of the north.
After yesterday, there was no one in the empire who did not know the purple Qilin Cavalry or their insignia.
The commoners looked at Gu Shang with gratitude and hope. Gu Shang had fought for all the injustice they had suffered.
This was an achievement even the current emperor could not archive, it had taken the Grand General one day to do something the Imperial court and emperor could not do in years.
All the corrupt officials who had tormented and exploited them were all now gone and dead. The viper guild who had committed all those atrocities in daylight weren't also spared.
This was a relief to them, while the commoners were filled with hope, the nobles were filled with fear.
To the commoners the purple Qilin insignia represented Justice and hope, but to the nobles it was a sign and omen of death.
Yesterday some of the nobles here witnessed how cruel the cavalry were as they barged into manors and slaughtered it's people leaving only women and children.
The image of all those powerful clans manors burning as the purple Qilin insignia wavered in the winds could never be erased from their minds.
Some even doubled check to make sure they were on their knees properly. To them Gu Shang was a psychopath, he literally caused a massacre because some noble families refused to bend the knee before him.
He was someone who made the streets of the imperial capital flow with blood for all to see.
The events of this year was never going to be forgotten.
Gu Shang didn't care about what anybody was thinking and headed straight for the Gu Clan manor.
The moment he arrived, all the soldiers surrounding the manor gave him a salute.
Gu Shang nodded at them before glancing at the sixth emissary.
"Members of the Gu Clan! The Grand General who his Majesty has bestowed to him the title of Prince Of The North has come to your manor!
Come out and pay obeisance to him!" He shouted loudly.
People gathered to watch the spectacle, they had all lived and worked around here so they knew the complicated relationship between the Grand General and the Gu Clan.
Some felt pitiful, whiles the others gloated at the Gu Clan misfortune. Those gloating were the ones who had seen how poorly Gu Shang was treated here, even the servants could bully him and no one would say a thing.
But now look at him, he was now a cap fish who had leaped over the dragons gate.
He was now a true dragon among men.
All the Gu Clan members hurriedly rushed out and went on their knees to show their respect for Gu Shang at the front gate.
Gu Shang edged his dragon horse closer to them until the horse was standing right above the members of the Gu Clan.
They trembled upon seeing this.
"My..ma..my son welcome home" The clan leader said stummering.
"Call me your son again and see if I don't execute you now?" Gu Shang said coldly.
The clan leader started to sweat profusely, from what he saw yesterday, He knew Gu Shang wasn't someone to make empty threats, he really went on to follow through with all his threats.
"Now let's cut the useless chitchat shall we? Where is my mother?" He asked.
"Fetch the prince of the north mother for him right now" The old clan leader said this time around.
A few people got up and entered the manor.
Gu Shang waited anxiously in anticipation, the last time he came here, his mother's mind was broken and couldn't even recognize him.
He could have treated her himself, but his mother refused to even speak with him and had even hid behind the Gu Clan members.
This was the only reason why he wanted the Gu Clan to treat his mother. He knew that in that state, his mother would have never followed him.
He held his breath in anticipation.
A few moments later, the two women who had went in earlier came out with a beautiful woman with silver hair seeming to be around the age of 29..30.
Her long silver silky hair cascading behind her back like a water fall, red lips, delicate eye brows and blue and crystal pupils like Gu Shang, she was beauty that could end nations.
Gu Shang was honestly surprised, the Gu Clan had really went all out.
The clan leader glanced at the silver haired woman with regret. If he had protected his son and his mother, would the outcome of today be different.
The old clan leader felt the worst, this was all happening because of his bias towards Gu Shang. If had been a little tolerant and open minded this wouldn't have ended like this.
When the woman was brought outside, she was surprised to see the number of troops and horses around the manor as well as the Gu Clan bending their knee.
All she could remember was her mind being mulky, it was only yesterday that her mind became more clearer after the Gu Clan spent a fortune to treat her.
They had also treated her so well, scaring her.
Today they dolled her up and even gave her fine silk which she had never wore in her entire life.
And now they dragged her outside, what was going on? And who were the Gu Clan members kneeling to?
She raised her head to see a silver haired young man on the horse which caused her to freeze.
Was that young man her son who died seven years ago? How was that possible?
She broke free from the two women who were helping her walk and began to walk towards Gu Shang with a trembling body.
"Shang.. is that you? She said with tears in her eyes
Gu Shang jumped of his horse, his body trembled lightly.
As he reached towards his mother, "Yes.. it's me.. your unfilal son has returned!" Gu Shang reached out to her hands and pulled it to caress his face.
"It is you!" The woman broke down into tears as he hugged his son tightly whiles crying loudly.
It was an emotional scene for the onlookers, they could all understand her feelings.
"As a mother, there was nothing more painful than losing a son. They couldn't even begin to imagine what she had been through after they pronounced his son dead seven years ago because After all he was all she had.
Gu Shang couldn't help but shed some tears as well.
After crying her eyes out, Gu Shang mother began to throw a lot of questions. Gu Shang calmed her down and called his carriage over.
A large golden carriage with the purple Qilin pattern on it was brought forth.
"Mother, go ahead I have something to handle" Gu Shang said.
She was surprised but now wasn't the time to ask questions, she didn't understand the whole situation but she knew her son was probably a powerful person who could eliminate the Gu Clan.
She gently pulled Gu Shang sleeves, " Don't forget they are your eldest sister's family" she said lightly before entering the carriage.
Gu Shang froze after he heard his mom.
