Chapter 2 - A Bright Sky

As the sun rose over the horizon a multi-hued sunrise pierced the blacked night casting the world in an atomic veil of colors that washed over a sleeping face. Buried within a layer of earth the dirt shook as a man's body broke free from it gasping in both the air and warmth of the sun similar to that of a starving animal he greedily huffed in the chill morning air. His eyes burst open as the bright sky blinded him for a moment till he covered his hand over his face while he stared at the sun that had just peaked over the horizon.

"so bright" the word dropped from his lips like hammers upon an anvil as he gazed out at the sunrise before his eyes. "such a shame such a beautiful sight is to accompany such a sad day." his voice was cold as he staggered to raise himself to his feet, his body felt impossibly weak to him as every ounce of energy had been ripped from his bones. though by sheer will and force of mind he righted himself on his own 2 feet. Closing his eyes he tried to sense the damage but there was nothing.

as a sense of dread set in around him his face held a look of horror as he saw nothing at all. in a panic his eyes shot open to try anything to disprove his theory. but as he saw the lightning scars that traced across his body , and the black charred, cracked skin over his navel area there was nothing else but to accept his fate.

A long silence dawned around him the very trees seemed to quiet themselves to avoid his wrath as a low rumble of anger trembled behind his eyes." You bastards You take her from me and cripple me as well, you will find your justice you so seek, know that no greater crime is there than to attack Me!" his body was impossibly weak but his voice held the intent to shatter the earth. even without his cultivation his sheer rage seemed to shake the earth for but a moment. so quick it could have been an illusion but it was there. With a long sigh he dusted off his robe that was in tatters as he began to climb out of the massive crater he had struck into the earth.

His mind raced for what to do without answers he raced to find a solution to his problem."UGhhh My merderains are practically non existent and I don't think I've seen a worse spirit root in all my years." his spiritual sea was destroyed so he was forced to utilize his blood aura to quickly get a gauge on the damage inside of him. "At this rate it would be a miracle to even make it past the skin tempering realm. how can one fix merderains that don't exist!?" his body was destroyed along with his cultivation destroying his potential and his ability to cultivate in one fell swoop. Even his blood aura barely allowed him to check the damage let alone be usable for battle." I could try a transplant but at that rate the likelihood of finding someone with merderains or roots worth taking would be near impossible normally not to mention without a cultivation there's no way I could track them down." He grunted as he strained in anger to drag himself out of the pit, his arms cried with the strain but he eventually dragged himself onto the springy metallic grass of the ironoak Forrest. "A forbidden technique might help me repair my merderains but without atleast a half decent spirit root I would never even have a chance to enter an extreme realm. without them it will be impossible to get revenge on heaven!gah what was taking her not enough for you!" he scratched at the sides of his head in a frenzy as he cursed upon the sky. " I should have known at the start she wouldn't of made it through the tribulation. They were too strong too fast, at last she had almost made it but when the thousandth lightning brewed in the sky she was good as dead, but arghhh I thought I could stop it."

The visions flew in his memory a faint tracing of him leaping into the sky to block the final strike, or what should of been. the sky seemed to churn stronger by tenfold before he lost sight of the vision." You prick so now I'm too weak to even grow my own memories! when I get a hold of you I'll I'll!" his voice got louder until he heard the small snap of a twig in the distance. His head snapped on a swivel to see a man crouched behind the bushes before he spoke out in a low voice." come out whoever you are and make it quick, I haven't got all day." He growled toward the spectator hidden in the trees.

"very well old man I don't know who sent you to our sects forest but I'm afraid it's far to past the point of no return. I can't wait to watch you bleed," the young man who stepped from the woods held a maniacal smile on his face ready to rip into him like a lion devouring a rabbit.

"Boy did no one teach you respect for your elders," he acted high and mighty to keep up appearances but inside he was screaming. 'I could burn the rest of my aura it would be enough to pulverize this brat but without it I'll have nothing left to work with. Gahh what can I do?!'
