Weeks have passed as the Heroes continue to prepare for the big fight. That mid February Saturday afternoon felt more than normal temperatures, the air felt more crisp as it came to be as spring comes in early in the Vegas valley. Carolyn and Oscar walk towards the small park up the street from their home, holding hands.
"Is Justine really getting out of the hospital today?" Oscar asks.
"She just got out two weeks ago, plus all the recovering and healing that took to heal the cuts on their stomach probably made them really tired. She probably wanted to get some rest today." Carolyn said.
"Oh. Understandable."
They walk over to a nearby bench to sit in. Oscar sits on the bench along with Carolyn sitting next to him. Silence roams around the park as the couple watch the passing cars coming by. A huge magical bison with a black teenage girl riding on top comes around the corner of the wall, walking up to Carolyn and Oscar.
"Good afternoon, Goodmans!" Justine exclaimed, slowly getting off of Dixie. Carolyn and Oscar look at Dixie and Justine. Carolyn gets up, along with Oscar.
"Justine!" Carolyn exclaims, hugging Justine, kissing their cheek. "Are you feeling any better?"
"Oh yeah, I am. The doctor told me to lay off from fighting because the scratches still need to heal a bit."
"That's good! Since everyone is here, we should go somewhere with open space to practice. This park is really small. Have any ideas, Justine?" Carolyn asks.
"Hmm..." Justine thinks for a moment. "How about Freedom park? It has open space but one problem. There's a big ass baseball field in the middle of it."
"Is Freedom park where your school is, right next to the courthouse?"
"Yep that's the one." Justine said.
"Nope, can't go there. Michele is probably in that area."
"There's a possibility that she might be standing where we are now, sweetheart. Oscar said.
"True but what's a good area to be in? Open space to practice."
"What about the Clark county parks, maybe the open soccer park right next to the Orleans Hotel? Charlie Frias park?" Justine suggested.
"How wide is it? Also, isn't it next to a shopping center?" Carolyn asks.
"Pretty wide enough to practice fighting to defeat Michele and I don't know if you considered an adult superstore, a Walgreens, and two gas stations visible to the naked driver eye to be a shopping center."
"I thought that superstore is down the street from those two gas stations?" Oscar asks.
"I kind of don't pay attention to anything when I'm in the car with my parents." Justine chuckles.
"But like, if you remember it was in that area though..."
"Oscar." Carolyn spoke up, squinting her eyes at him.
"WHAT?! She knows where that store is. You've been in there, Justine. Admit it!" Oscar commands.
"No but I pass by it sometimes around the city. There's a lot of adult stores you can't miss it. Just like a strip club which I definitely would go to when I'm 18 years old." Justine said.
"See this is what i'm talking about. Kids roaming around in an adult playground, this is one good example, Carolyn. If I was still mayor. I would've banned your asses instantly."
"You're not even mayor no more!" Carolyn and Justine yelled.
"IF! i said, 'IF I was still mayor' kids nowadays are so disrespectful. Always on your phones, not giving a shit about the elderly."
"Says the person who 'licks their sister's food during dinner' that's kind of disrespectful." Justine said.
"Where did you get that information from?!"
"Yo mama."
"My mom is dead!"
"Don't worry about it, I got her on speed dial from the afterlife."
"I should've put up that red light district sooner to keep your asses out of Vegas."
"Damn, that shit won't last long. These kids nowadays have the power to break into those brothels and strip clubs. Oooh wee." Justine laughs.
"Not under my watch, I'll make sure those kids can't even get in!"
"Want to bet on that?"
"Ten dollars"
"Beat the Vegas odds. Twenty dollars. You won't."
"Both of you stop it!" Carolyn yelled.
"Sorry Carolyn..." Oscar and Justine said, bowing their heads down in despair. Carolyn nods her head.
"You two act alike...Oh my god, I found the genderbend twin!" Carolyn said, getting on top of Dixie.
Justine and Oscar look at each other and start laughing as they get on top of Dixie.
"Alright Dixie. Take us to Charlie Frias Park, please!" Justine said.
Dixie chirps as she starts to walk up to the street of Owens Boulevard, going towards Decatur. Walking over to the park.
"Does Dixie know where she's going?" Oscar asks.
"She knows where, she's like a GPS. The red diamond on her head is a sensor for her to know where she's going and not get lost." Justine said, "This gem is designed to locate a person or an area anywhere in the valley."
"Anywhere in the valley?"
"Anywhere."
"Hm.. that's nice."
"So technically Dixie is a tracker bison?" Carolyn asks.
"All magical Bisons have that tracking GPS factor in their head gems. Dixie is just a pretty special bison to have a personal tracker to track humans that she likes and save them from danger."
"Aww, When you are in danger. She can find you and save you out of it."
"Pretty much, not only she'll save me from danger. That includes anyone that I love as well. You, Oscar, my friends, my father, etc."
"What about your mom?" Carolyn asks.
"Hell. No."
Oscar wheezes as he laughs. Carolyn laughs with him while smirking.
"It's the truth, I swear. The damage she caused me. Dixie knows why I said, 'don't save my mom'. Not even Michele.. That bitch can die."
"I wouldn't say that out loud but yes. She needs to die. The amount of damage she has done to this city with her mafia." Carolyn said, scoffing.
"What is her plan anyway? Is it just to destroy Las Vegas or is there something else?" Justine asks.
"There's another plan that she has. I can't speak too much though, not here."
"Would it be better if you whispered it to me?"
"That would be better." Carolyn smiled as she leaned into Justine's ear.
"She has a plan to take over Nevada too." She whispered. Justine's eyes widened.
"Is that the reason why she wants to assassinate Sisolak?" Justine whispered back.
Carolyn nods in agreement, Justine sighs.
"That's bad, bad. She's gonna be more powerful than she already is."
"Exactly, that's why I want to dismantle her mafia after I defeat her first."
"Mh- That's fair."
A few minutes later, Dixie arrives at Charlie Frias Park. The grass in the park is flowing with the wind blowing onto the ground. Dixie stops and drops onto the grassy floor. Justine, Carolyn, and Oscar get off of Dixie and stretch their legs and arms. Carolyn breathes, looking around the park as the cars pass by Tropicana.
"Oh my god. This is a perfect place to practice in. The view of the strip is amazing along with a view of Red Rock and other mountains coming across the west. The wind is blowing at a perfect speed."
"The view is amazing, that's for sure." Justine said.
Carolyn turns around, looking towards Oscar and Justine.
"Okay! Are you ready to practice fighting Michele?" She said, Getting into a fighting position. "Oscar wants to step in as Michele?"
Oscar gulps. Justine steps back, sitting on Dixie's back.
"I can't fight. I'm out of commission, Oscar." Justine said.
"I know that but... She's too powerful for me to fight her.
"True but it's good practice."
"I'm not fighting her."
"All you are doing is helping Carolyn spar, nothing else."
"Justine!"
"Don't 'Justine' me, Oscar. I got you. You and Carolyn. Whatever happens. I'll help separate it. If she goes too far, I'll stop it."
"Alright." Oscar said as he walked in front of Carolyn. Carolyn smirks.
"Are you actually ready to portray as Michele for me?" Carolyn asks.
"Please go easy on me."
"Alright. But you better keep up the pace."
Carolyn chuckles, running towards Oscar. Throwing a punch at him. Oscar blocks her punch, grabbing her wrist, attempting to throw her across the park. Carolyn lands on the grassy floor. She knees Oscar's stomach, making him lose his grip on her wrist. Carolyn punches him away. Oscar flew across the park, sliding on the floor, getting dirt on his shirt and his pants. Oscar slowly gets up, cracking his fingers.
"I said to go easy!" Oscar exclaims.
"I did! I told you to keep up the pace." Carolyn said. Oscar runs towards Carolyn, throwing a punch towards her. Carolyn blocks his punches as he continues to swing at her. Sparks of white flames surrounding his fists. Carolyn dodges the punches, the last punch Oscar threw hit her face. She jumps and flips in the air as Oscar throws a punch towards the ground, creating a dirt clot mountain rising towards her. Sparks of red lightning flow around her arms creating her electric scythe. Her eyes turn bloodshot red, landing on the grass. Carolyn's demon horns appeared on her head as her wrath demon tail appeared, circling her like a snake. Justine's eyes widen, covering Dixie's eyes. Dixie grunts.
"I don't think you want to see this, Dix." She said to Dixie.
Red lightning surrounds Carolyn. Oscar stands there, looking at Carolyn, breathing. White fire surrounded him.
"Oh, two can play that game." Oscar said. His eyes went fully white. White flame surrounds him, as his angel halo and wings appear on his body. He raises his hand in the sky as his Martini glass sword appears. Oscar smirks.
"Ready for round two?" Oscar said.
"I should be asking you that." Carolyn cracks her neck, smirking. Both Carolyn and Oscar speed towards each other, clashing their weapons together. Carolyn knocks Oscar's sword out of his hand. She swings her scythe up to Oscar's chin, cutting him. Carolyn kicks him away causing Oscar to fly towards the other end of the park. Carolyn speeds up towards Oscar, punching him, causing his nose to bleed. Oscar grabs Carolyn's fists, knees her in her stomach. Causing her to cough up blood. Oscar clenches his fist and punches Carolyn's face. He slams her onto the ground. Knocking Carolyn's breath out along with her demon horns and tail disappearing. Oscar drops on top of her, breathing hard. Justine gets up and runs towards Oscar and Carolyn. Dixie gets up and follows her.
"Oscar! No MORE! Carolyn is done already!" Justine yells
Carolyn breathes as Oscar is on top of her breathing hard. His glasses drop as blood from his chip drips onto Carolyn's chest and necklace. Carolyn looks at Justine and Dixie running towards them.
"Justine..." Carolyn mumbled as she continued to drown in blood.
"Oh my god! Oscar! Carolyn! Are you okay?!" Justine said, freaking out.
Oscar rolls over next to Carolyn breathing. Carolyn slowly lifts herself up, throwing up blood in front of Justine.
"I think I should call an ambulance.." she continued.
"Wait! Wait.." Carolyn interrupts. "It's fine! Oscar just went overboard with his powers."
"You sure?? Oscar is a Powers Angel. He could've killed you."
"Oscar wouldn't kill me- his powers are limited when he's around me or our kids. He could kill me if he wanted to but he chose not to." Carolyn said, looking at Oscar, smiling.
"Ahh... so what do you think you should do? If you fight Michele alone. Your result will be fatal." Justine asks.
"It's going to be fatal regardless. We're going all out to kill her for good." Carolyn looks at Justine. "I'll fight her first but Oscar will step in as my backup. If we die together, we die saving Las Vegas. We might come back alive or not. If the doctors decide not to revive us. Keep it that way, that's our wish."
Justine nods, trying not to cry. Tears flowed down her face. She turns away. Carolyn sits up and hugs Justine. Justine starts to cry.
"I don't want you guys to go..."
"I know... we have to die someday. It's a part of life. Oscar and I lived ours and it's our time. I pretty much know what's going to happen in this fight. Both of us are going to die in some way and she's not leaving until she kills one person."
"Please don't say that..."
"I know... but it's the hard truth. Life goes on after someone dies. I rather see you and everyone else I know go on with their life happily knowing they have so many years left before their death date. Can you do that for me? Live your life happily and to the fullest?" Carolyn said, breaking up the hug.
Justine nods, wiping away her tears. "Okay..."
Carolyn smiles. She kisses Justine's cheek. Dixie walks up to Justine and Carolyn. She chirps sadly, laying in between them. Carolyn pets Dixie, kissing her red gem.
"If Oscar and I don't make it out the fight tomorrow night. Just know that I love you guys and I hope you guys live happily. Stay safe please."
"Okay Carolyn." Justine said, smiling. Carolyn smiles, hugging Justine. Justine hugs her back.
As Carolyn breaks up the hug, She looks at Oscar. He lays on the ground, resting his eyes. Carolyn kisses his cheek. Justine smiles even more.
"Do you think we can win this fight?" Justine asks.
"We are, it just the fight won't end until she completes her goal. We can't say we won and call it a day."
"It's not over isn't it hm?"
"Nope. We have a long way to go to say it ended."
"Hm... That's understandable," Justine said. "Do you know when you and Michele will start on the fight?"
"Who knows. I recommend not stepping in or getting involved with the fight. I want you to stay safe and not to get hurt."
"Can I at least watch from a far distance?"
"You can watch but from a safe distance, please don't be a knucklehead and get close to the fight. She can potentially kill you if she sees you."
"Yeah. That's true."
"Mhmm... It's best to watch it on the rooftop of any hotel on the strip or downtown. Or stay downtown and watch from City Hall. That's my best offer."
"Okay." Justine looks at the city skyline. "Is everyone going to evacuate the city tonight?"
"I had one of my city council members do that right now. If you get alert soon tonight, have your family leave immediately." Carolyn commanded, "I'm sure your family is leaving early right now?"
"Hopefully they should be. I would be getting phone calls right now from my dad and my stepmother, Felicity."
"You are more than welcome to stay at my house until everything is clear."
"I'll take that into consideration. I might have to stay and make sure everyone leaves."
"Then stay at my house when you do that. Bring your friends if you have to."
"Okay. I will."
Carolyn smiles at Justine. "Thank you Justine for your understanding."
