It was about another month of peace until a sudden disturbance was felt all over the peninsula. This time every beast and every person in Mogard felt it, it has come was what they could think of.
An even that happens every twelve years in Mogard that is the nightmares of every people in the place, because last time it happened the previous lord died.
A monster wave, but this time many were not eager to charge in. Because there is a Saint living inside with his monster town and many wanted to watch if this person could survive this event until now.
As this was one of the things no one could build a proper civilization in this place for centuries. The thing that ended the lives of many Saints and could wreak havoc in the lands beyond the Fog mountains.
Most monsters would be lost in the fog but if there are tens of thousands then hundreds would still find themselves in the Fort Gates. But that is not all, the monsters that appear to wreak havoc weirdly is not from the wildlands at all.
Every twelve years the cause would be different from the last, there was once a wave that started because of Poison Wyverns. These beast were only A-rank but their bodies carry so much poison that it made the environment unstable.
This forces many to be driven out and form a lagre wave southwards, then the larger and stronger local beast would only be affect by then and there, so they would be forced to drive out the invaders southwards personally.
Thus to those outside they would only face the minor beast at first then the final wave would be the boss which made them see the misconception of being the cause to be different every time.
But the last ones responsible were the larger and stronger groups like the Emperor Crab and Behemoths. Some were caused by Hordes of Goblins, who were mostly D-rank at beast but came in tens of thousands even climbing up to hundreds sometimes.
They were led by strong A-class Goblin Variants like Goblin Shamans, Goblin Generals and even S-class Goblin Champions.
Though some survive and got captured by the humans but when they were interrogated these sentient monsters were all traumatized. As they had faced the real force of the Wildlands, many theories came from scholars about where they come from as well.
When they were asked about where they were all they could describe were places that were not found in the two large continents. Some Goblin Tribes in the East continent even tried to ask their brethren before but found that their language is similar yet have different accents.
So most theories formed that they came from another continent not near their own, but others formed that they came from large Dungeons. But they were not able to gather much as the captured beings soon died due to a mysterious force seemingly after two months after the waves starts.
Like those in most Fantasy worlds, Dungeons formed in places with large concentrations of Mana. Yet somehow this was not solid theory since the Wildlands was a 'Silenced' area, a place where mana is prohibited, the largest even of all the 'Silenced' areas.
But there were findings from one instance that was caused by Kobolds that the world they came from was small and that they can reach the end of their world. As well as when one dies their bodies disappear and become mana.
This was similar to what a dungeon behaves but contradicting is that the place has a Sky, sun and weather changes unlike most dungeons so other scholars rebutted that maybe the kobold was just talking about the sea ending.
Marc had heard of this from the maids of Lady Janice yet he stayed nonetheless. Since he could predict that the local tyrants could take on the monster waves, but he did not tell them about his deductions.
Because it was really true that most Saints and Sages will die inside this place if they have no idea what they are dealing with. Especially with the Swamp Area and the Sea side Cliffs to be the first area they would face entering.
Marc only made a route that does not touch the territories of the local tyrants there and the small metallic hawk was problematic enough for those not ready to go inside.
The Python also likes to ambush people near the edge, maybe many died because of them. The Frog also has a special pair of tongues that could reach a kilometer away from where you are.
Most would see the frog from afar due to its large size but arc deduced many did not take into notice its reach since large things tend to be slow and clumsy. But that frog is sly as hell, Marc does not like fighting that thing at all.
First time he was lucky since his newly made Armor was oiled up to shine yet it became free real estate target for the frog. First three hits hurt him but thankfully the tongue did not stick to him due to the oil.
Marc was able to deduce the next attacks due to his experience and greater senses, he was then able to counter attack by throwing spears towards the frog. One was so strong it was able to pierce through the large amphibian but Marc had to retreat because he lost all his spears.
Anyhow the rumbling of the land made Marc aware that the so called wave is about to happen soon making him look serious and somber. But he has a plan on how to deal with this, his looked on his side and he could also see the elder rooster seem to remember something.
"So you do know of this huh?" Marc said as he walked back towards the monster town and there his monsters awaited his return. One thing Marc had been glad about is that he had been able to prepare necessary items when he had learned of this.
"Everybody! We are going to prepare for battle!!" Marc said excitedly as he returned while the cockatrices cawed and the boars snorted.
Other beast in his town also roared in unison as they had felt safety when they were in Marc's care but now they could feel something in encroaching upon their newly found peaceful territory.
"Chickens Suit up!!" Marc shouted making the best two hundred of the cockatrices and Tyrone go and wear their personalized armors.
"Monke! Come here…" Paul shouted in a thick mock African accent but there were a few beasts that answered.
It was a group of 1 foot tall Marmosets that were very shy creatures of the Wildlands, they are larger than their earth counterparts but they looked like Marmosets to Marc.
Other than them there is a few different simian species as well but they are at the bottom rings of this environment.
These others were three feet tall squirrel monkeys and spider monkeys, Marc had left them to be a secret force as he had been training them from day one he first absorbed them in the town.
They were smart enough to be able to understand the ASL that Marc knew because it was better than finding a translator as there were many people that knew ASL in places he wanted to visit as a tourist.
Now these Monkeys were numbered about 80 only but they were all trained archers, they are smaller in build but they seem to carry enough physical strength to overpower a strong man in his past life.
The strongest of them could even lift a 1 ton boulder so Marc knew how destructive their smaller statures are when that much strength is concentrated in it.
But they were only about C-Class at beast in this place, also they seem to only use this strength for running away.
In a place where everyone else is stronger and could hunt you made these species here smaller and largely hidden.
But Marc did not care as he outfitted them with small spears or rather normal arrows as well as bows that are proportionate to their size.
It could even be considered as long bows for them but for others they look like toys.
Yet Marc made them using the most tensile of the wood he could find here as well as flexible and the toughest of tendons to be the string.
Normal humans cannot pull it back but these small critters can and they are trained to become hidden snipers within the canopies.
From what he could tell the maximum range of these small killers are at least a kilometer and a half. That was not telling if he could successfully make the clear glass to make a scope for them but that will be for later.
Only thing for a scope he created was three of those pirate like scopes by grinding down some quartz he has to thin fine curved lenses.
He had a hard time making such as his large strength made it hard to handle such brittle material as well as the lack of smoothening out things he could use to make the polish of the lens clear.
By far only twelve lenses were made and he used them to make three telescopes to the leading monkeys who will scout out the situation.
