Chapter 1 - Reality

A cascade of murky droplets scatters across the land, the instantaneous bright yellow and deafening of the skies. The quick and irregular footsteps with the splashing sound of the current chasing down a shadowy figure in the middle of the road.

"Watch OUT!"

The shadowy figure motionless, drenched and down casted. They look back with the bright white flashing of a massive vehicle behind it. Tears trickled down like a wavy current from the eyes to the chin, a squint of eyes and a hopeless smile arising from their lips. And a hand wave gesture towards the man sprinting towards them.

"Good bye-"

A reverberating and ear splitting honking of the massive vehicle that is about to intersect with a silhouette.

And then... a continuous stream of a dark red river running along the current of the steep hills, a corpse wearing a grey coloured sheath dress with long black curly hair together with a butterfly hairpin. A face aghast, a smile penetrating the heart of the man in front of her who he tries lifting her head in between his palms. His fingertips trembling, heartbeat pumping, and a face revealing wrinkles, regret and despair.

A 180cm tall man wearing a sombre Italian soaked black tuxedo sitting in front of a piano next to a fractured tombstone covered in moss, chrysanthemums scattered across resembling a love heart and a rose poppy sitting in front of the tombstone's name, Maria Williams.

Fingers grasping the notes gently, gracefully and mournfully that can pull the heartstrings of many…

A deep, quiet and sorrowful melody was played. Dark, repenting and gloomy emotions hidden deep within his heart. A shadowy figure appeared in his mind haunting him from sun to moon. Sleepless nights, tiresome days, bloodshot swollen eyes tearing. Long straight grey hair trickling down to his waistline. And he recites.

"It's your first year of your death anniversary my darling... I'm sorry... I can't help it... you left the world without me... but over these sad-stricken days... I- will finally come with you on your next journey-"

He stands facing towards the grave... he grabs his dagger soaked with green coloured liquid dripping down to the Earth corroding the cobblestone around it.

*Gush*

A fountain of crimson coloured cascade overshadows his vision as he falls down backwards... slowly…

---

The man slowly opened his heavy eyelids, he observes that the sky appearing more vivid, dazzling and blazing, his brain shocked anew with flooded new and foreign information.

He lifted himself off the ground using his elbow joints and slowly lifted his torso with his palms against the ground, beneath him and around him was a patch of delicate violet irises and looked as if they had never been stepped on.

"It's beautiful-"

The man grins happily after so long. He really wanted to lie down on these comfortable flowers but before he could think of what he would do here.

A shadowy figure walking towards him gracefully in front of him holding onto a wooden fruit basket's handle. They were wearing a breath taking scarlet wrap dress, had glistening smooth pale skin, long crimson smooth hair flowing down to her waistline, otherworldly ruby eyes and a pair of red espadrille.

"Is that so~"

She came over to squat down to the man's level observing not just the iris flowers but also him.

"I never knew a man would be interested in flowers."

He looks back with closed eyes and turns his head around to look at the sky.

"It's a long story-"

His facial expression changed, it was dispirited and yet somewhere deep down, he could find Maria here.

'Where could she be?' He thought.

But as he was contemplating his life choices, she waddled towards his back to gently caressing the man's majestic silver long hair.

"My name is Flores~"

She turned her head away with a bright orange-red face.

"My name is Roan Williams."

Roan looks at her with a solemn expression. It was really hard to tell what he was thinking.

"So how did you get here, Roan..."

Flores then started to gently caress her own hair to make herself look more disciplined.

"I came through the woods and just wanted to lay down on this patch of Iris flowers as they feel comfortable and smell great."

Flores suddenly nodded with a light squint of eyes and a gentle smile captivating the man in front of her. But then Flores began looking at the patch of Iris flowers from all sides and saw no trail of footsteps except her ones.

'As expected-' Flores thought.

She then opens the lid to her fruit basket to reveal a green apple patched up a little at the crown on top.

"Would you like an apple?" she asks patiently and with anticipation.

"Yeah sure..."

But just before he took the apple, he saw a tint of dark green on the edges of a patched spot on the apple.

He laughs...

Roan grabs the apple off from her palms. He then turns his whole body around facing away from her to fake himself taking a bite off the apple by making weird mouth noises. He then waited motionlessly to see her reaction.

No reaction...

No subtle movements...

'Maybe she is waiting for me to lie down.' He thought.

So Roan then lays down sideways calmly, steadily and with utmost caution, closing his eye lids slowly and releasing his grip of the apple, making it drop down and hidden within the patch of violet Iris flowers.

Suddenly, Flores begins making her movement towards the man in front of her laying down with a carefree expression, She begins to smile with a slight grin. She started to lay her fingers to stroke his neck down to his waist and then she said with a mesmerisingly sweet voice.

"Finally, my man of my dreams… no one will steal him from me… ever…"

She begins to laugh covering her whole face with her palms. Her eyes revealed an even brighter red glint upon her ruby-like eyes.
