Chapter 14 - Chapter 13. EPHIRIA

Ella rushed to the exit of the building. I followed her as we dashed to where they had abducted her. The van was driving off. It was too far for me to blast. Ella held out her hands and the van stopped. The tires were still revolving. The van increased its power but Ella t-held it with all the power she could master up. She tried to pull it back but green energy erupted from it. It was order. The van started moving again. They had used order to nullify Ella's power–dirty cheats.

Ella summoned Phil and we hopped on his back. We trailed the van from the sky. You might be wondering, "Did no one see what just happened?" I'd answer, "Yes they could see the abduction but from there no because humans can't see order and Phil disguised us with invisibility during flight." We followed them until we reached a building site. The structure was tall and made up of dried cement.

The van was parked inside. The abductors carried the unconscious Olivia into the building. We got off Phil and shadowed them. I hoped they didn't hear us. Surprisingly the floor we were on had a small table and 2 red velvet couches. A pale man about 35 with charcoal black hair and greyish blue eyes. He was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, a black vest, and black trousers. He had a tattoo of thunderous clouds along his arm. On the other couch was Olivia. I could feel Ella tensing up. Next to unconscious Olivia was a pale young girl with icy blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a long purple dress.

The man was holding a small vile of an indigo liquid. He said, "We're aware of your presence so save us time and come out." Which fool would come out? He pointed directly at us. I guess he wasn't bluffing. We came out but made sure to keep some good distance from them. Panic was raised in my heart. I kept my hand on my cube. He said, "Okay, we all know why you're here. That is why I'd like to make an offer." Ella replied, "What offer?" He said "I give you two outcomes. In both, you will not end with having your cousin." Ella winched, "Then what will we get from making this deal." He replied, "Your lives." His expression was indecipherable. He went on, "One, I give you a potion that will hide your scent. Then you will be free of the burden of ever being in this war." I said, "Until the calamity. The one where you guys will destroy all chaos. He said, "True but you will get to keep your lives for longer. You will get to keep privileges like Luxis' immunity to plasma damage." That's right. I can put my hand over fire and it went hurt me, "Or your high immunity or even pudeky's ability to sense lies with no mostri following your mystic scent."

I asked, "And the other outcome?" He replied, "I kill you right here and now. So what will it be? A little taste of freedom before death or none at all." Ella looked frozen in place. I guess she was contemplating her reply. He smirked. Both outcomes were terrible. The potion was tempting. A rest from all this business and allow someone else to deal with it. I'd have taken the offer without thinking twice if Olivia wasn't on the line. If I were Ella, I'd hate to leave a cousin behind to whatever horrors. We had to figure a way out of this.

To my shock, Ella said, "We will take it." I remarked, "What're doing?" She said, "It is the only way around this." Her voice was cracking. She reassured with vigor, "You know that too." He said, "Wise choice. What about you?" He pointed at me. I turned to Ella whose expression had solidified. I said, "I will take it too." He threw the vile at us. He said, "You can leave now." Ella pocketed the vile and headed for the exit. I didn't understand what she was thinking. How could she do this to her cousin? I reluctantly followed. Bricks were flung at him. Blue lightning shot at each of them. I turned to see a spark of anger light up in him. He stood up, "I see you where you stand." Ella had t-flung those bricks. She only wanted to get her hands on the vile. Truly a pudeky's work.

I commented, "So you're a druid or should I say a nightmare beast." He bloated, "A powerful one at that. Being in human form is only for the fittest." I snorted, "Why are you scared to show us your true self." He retorted, "I might as well." His eyes turned blue. His skin turned dark grey. His hair shifted to feathers. A dark cloud engulfed him. A screech of a bird came out. Ella joked, "Great, we're fighting a chicken. Hope the transformation reaches the brain."

She couldn't have been more wrong. A giant harpy eagle flew towards us. With it, wind followed–wind so powerful that it swept me off my feet into the air. The harsh brush of air heightened my fear as we fell. Ella handed me the vile. She levitated up. I couldn't blast as a strong enough shockwave. My power was only so little. I had to think fast before I hit the ground. I scrambled for a solution. I could try and thrust myself with a blast.

I tried my best to maneuver myself toward the structure. I called on my light. I felt it course through my veins. I released it out of my palms with a force that pushed me into the building. My body throbbed but I had worse things to be concerned about. I stood up trying to endure the pain of each step as I ascended the stairs. By the time I reached, the full battle had begun on the roof. Building materials launched themselves at the electrified eagle. In response, blue lightning showered the roof. Olivia was seated on a couch in the corner.

Sand surrounded the construction site's walls forming confinement. I tried my best to conceal myself. The advantage of a surprise attack couldn't be missed. I oriented myself along the roof as stealthily as I could. He said, "Why are you doing this? I have given you freedom. I doubt you expect this kind of offer from the chaos faction. They use you as pounds until death. Why side with them?" Ella replied, "It is the side that won't leave me dead." He said, "If so, why send you on lethal missions? It is a pity to harm a naïve girl but if we must."

A bolt shot right at her. She threw herself to dodge. The sand shifted to form knives that were shot at me. One landed past my face leaving a small cut on it. I sprung out of hiding knowing that I was discovered. I paid attention to more that targeted both Ella and I. I conjured my light pushing it out my palm–using it to blast them. I paid so much attention to them that I forgot about him. A bolt hit to remind me. Heat pulsed through me. My body felt a bit paralyzed. My nerves felt turned. I wasn't burnt to ashes because I was a luxis but God it still hurt.

I groaned in pain. Hold yourself together. In a flash, he was in between us. Two bolts were held in either hand. He was ready to strike us down like Zeus. I snapped my finger to unleash my blinding light. Ella t-pushed us away from him in opposite directions. A sand sword landed inches away from me. I could handle the bolts but not the sharp double-edged swords.

The sand swords turned to dunes. I maneuvered my body to evade them. I still get cuts along my skin letting blood drip out. All the pain I was holding came back with an increasing request for attention. I couldn't hold for much longer. Do you know what? We didn't come here to fight–we came here to rescue Olivia but we aren't the only ones here for her. A plan formed in my mind and before I knew it, I was running to Olivia.

Sand flowed towards me. More came raining down. Chains constricted me but I was too near to stop. Good thing Ella was keeping him busy. I blasted out my light like the radiant sun–demolishing the chains. I ran and put my palm over Olivia's neck. More sand chains headed for me. I didn't mind them. I warned, "Stop this right now or I will blast her to smithereens." They all froze giving confused looks at me. He giggled, "You're bluffing." I smirked, "Are you willing to give up your candidate to find out?"

He gloomed, "You witch. I guess you think that you have the upper hand." He chuckled, "Do you know what? Since you and your friend are so obsessed with coming along, why don't you join us?" The building shook. Clouds swirled–cocooning the roof. I felt the ground move upwards. He smirked, "You have all heard tales of the flying Dutchman but have you heard of the flying roof." OMG. We were in midair meaning that if our lives were in his hands. Well, this plan just backfired.
