I looked at the heap of rewards I had got just from surviving that encounter, this alone was enough to tell me that Eron would have been impossible to defeat. I still wondered how I got so stupid to think I could at least try.

I sighed inwardly before taking another look from the terrace and walking into the chamber. I moved straight to get dressed and ready for the party that would happen this night: the First Princess' birthday party.

Some time after I got dressed, someone knocked in the door of my chambers.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Who is it?" I called out.

"Young master, it is I." A tender voice said. It must be that female servant from earlier. "May I please come in?"

"Come in." I answered. The door gave way as a slender hand pushed through it and a slim figure made it's way into my vision. The female servant quickly bowed lightly after coming into my presence.

"What is it? I have already told you to leave me the last time." I said.

"Your Father has requested your presence. He says it is almost time for you to leave for the Palace and also to inform you that he would like to speak to you of something before your lot left for the Palace."

"Alright, I'll be right there. Take me to him." As I said this, a light load landed on my head. I knew it was Eron. Why he liked to nest on my head so, I had no idea. Perhaps I might even ask him later on.

We made our way through the mansion we had rented for our stay, which was kind of like a luxurious inn, meant only for nobles on occasions like this, until we finally got to a large door which she pushed open.

"He is in here." She said, pointing to the inside of the room. All I could see inside were shelves, so I had an inkling what he would be doing right now.

My father was an extremely skilled fighter, that was how he had earned himself the title of Baronet. But above fighting, there was something that he loved more, something he always did with his time; reading. He loved to read books.

He was born into a peasant family, see; and was unable to get quality education. According to him, he just saw nobles who had the opportunity to do so yet squandered these opportunities. Opportunities so good that all they needed was being able to read or write were often passed by because of the lack of these basic skills.

For this reason, he had decided to become a noble, so he would be able to get this education. A rich man could afford it, yes. But a rich man would only be able to get the bread crumbs compared to what a noble would get as knowledgeable teachers. Because he knew this, he opted to be the former.

Knowing this myself, I did not dare slight education. My father was kind to me, truly. But he could be extremely strict at times too. I slowly walked in through the shelves, searching for my father but without a word.

I waded through the shelves for a little too much time before I finally called out to him.

"Father? Are you in here?" I asked. "I was asked to come meet you in here."

"Over here." I heard a voice. His voice. I followed it until I came upon a setup of a table and chair with an oil lamp, a quill and some ink. He was seated behind the desk, looking in my direction, most likely waiting for my arrival.

"Father. You called, I have come." I said.

"Indeed I called, son. Indeed I called." He stood up from his seat as he said this. "Come, come. We have quite a bit to discuss."

We found a place for the both of us to seat somewhere in the study. There, we had a long chat about conduct, etiquette and the like before Father finally stood up and said it was time for us to leave for the party.

We walked out of the room to see that same female servant I had been seeing today. So many encounters so far moved me to wish to ask her name, but I held myself back. Father called out to her and asked her to go fetch Leanna from her room and tell her we were to leave immediately. She nodded, bowed and left us.

We strode out of the mansion to see a carriage parked outside. It had a large emblem crested on both sides, that was the Ximoa emblem. I never really paid attention to this crest of ours, so today wasn't any different. What had got me though, was how quickly Father had procured a carriage after the last one had been destroyed, especially when we had only been in the Capital a few hours. Best of all, he had already gotten the family crest on the carriage as well.

We sat in the carriage and talked for a while before Leanna joined us. Soon after she did, Father checked we didn't forget anything, including the present he had procured earlier: which we had managed to save, after which we took off to the Palace which was at the very centre of the Capital.
