The divorce was finalized as soon as my signature landed on the blank spaces of the document and I was back to being just Sophia Richardson.
I must admit that it was kind of weird at first, working through the heap of paperwork to have my name legally changed. It was even more of an hassle having to do that while my heart was heavy with guilt and pain. By the time every paper work has been signed and filed, and I was without my kids for two more weeks, everything started to slowly sink in.
Life became slow and empty, without any meaning or purpose; just dragging by. For the next one month, I fell into, what experts may describe, as depression.
