Chapter 13 - CHAPTER THIRTEEN

"I would like to see Damien, please." I said into the door bell phone as we (Marcus and I) both suddenly dispatched. Marcus gave a quick wave before running into the darkness as the huge gate automatically flung open enough for a car to drive through. I threw a kiss at Marcus, whom I wasn't exactly sure saw me did that, as he continued walking hastily down the path and towards the main road.

With a deep long sigh, I took my first step inside, determined to have this night go according to my own plan. I was just going to sign the agreement after discussing my terms and after which, I'd be back with my Marcus for a possible exciting night together. Thoughts of that made my tummy rumble with shy excitement as a smile crept up on my face.

Getting to the front door, which was relatively easy as the entire compound, from the front gate to the front door, was completely illuminated with beautiful lightning system, adding beauty to the compound's aesthetics, I was welcomed warmly by the maid I immediately recognized from my last visit. She held a smile on her face, a smile which reassured me that she, too, recognized me from the other night.

"Good evening." I greeted with a grin, contemplating whether or not she had actually seen us (that is, Marcus and I) kissing so intensely. I was suddenly feeling dirty and cheap, as though I was caught cheating on her boss with a random guy. It was weird to feel that way but it didn't do much in stopping me from feeling so.

"Good evening ma." She greeted back, her face rid of any form of judgement, or maybe she was so good at her job that masking her real emotions now came really easily to her.

Stepping to the side, she bowed halfway in respect, gesturing for me to step inside and out of the cold night. As the door closed behind me, I felt the coziness of the warmth of the huge house and a river of relief suddenly rushed through my veins.

"I understand you came to meet Mr Damien Smith, but unfortunately he's no longer in town. He left this evening."

"Sh*t!!" I yelled in my head, cursing the annoying jerk but still maintaining a straight calm expression as I nodded in understanding to the message that was being delivered.

"Well, Mr Smith had called earlier and informed us of your visit. He asked that we made you comfortable as Mr Damien might be joining you tonight, otherwise he'd have to see you tomorrow." She said but all what I could process was she informing me that I was to spend the night here and stand my Marcus up.

"Wait, isn't there a way to like inform him of my being here? The truth is I have somewhere else to be tonight." I finally summoned the courage to voice my concern and for a quick second, I saw the flash of judgement disappear from her face as quickly as it had surfaced; I was right! She had, indeed, saw us.

As embarrassed as I should have been at this exact moment, I found myself more concerned about the answer to the question I just asked and I couldn't help but hope that it turns out into a favorable one.

"Where Mr Damien is right now is quite far from here and I don't think he'd like to take that trip-"

"Then I'd go to him." I hastily cut in, as the desperation surged through my lungs.

"He's in Manhattan." Was her blunt short reply.

"Oh!" I sighed.

"Yeah, that's why I am a bit hesitant about saying for certain that he'd make it but Mr Smith said he just might and that's why…" she suddenly clapped her palms and some maids, neatly dressed, appeared out of nowhere and stood in a straight line in front of me, "…we are here to make you feel as comfortable as we possibly can. Anything you need, we would make that available."

"Oh! That wouldn't be necessary." I chuckled uncomfortably, waving my hands as I took a step back; my own naive way of politely declining their request.

"It's our job, ma'am. Let's make you comfortable." She said, leading the way to the room I was now familiar with; Damien's.

To say this was just a room would be a grave understatement as it could conveniently pass off as a complete family house. Having been here before and not wanting to embarrass myself in front of the many scrutinizing gazes, I quietly took a step in as they (the maids) followed closely behind.

As I sat down on one of the couches, I was immediately served with a bowl of deliciously looking fruit salad, a slice of vanilla cake and a hot cup of chocolate, alongside a glass of cold orange juice which seemed to have been freshly squeezed. In less than three minutes, the maids filed out as quickly as they had entered, probably not having any intentions of staying in this room for an extra second more than required.

"I have left a message for the boss, informing him of your presence though he hasn't replied yet." The maid, whom I'll now refer to as the head maid as she was the only actually allowed to talk, said, "If you need anything, just call out and someone would immediately come to you." Well, I must admit, that sounded so enticing that for a second, I was excited to be having an arranged marriage with a billionaire.

"Thank you so much." I managed to say as she gave yet another respectful bow before taking her leave out of the room and shutting the door gently behind her. I was suddenly engulfed in silence and a dimly lit room, and although the manners I was raised to have nudged at me to keep my ass down on the chair, my curiosity won the long game. I eventually got up and decided to take a peek around, to finally satisfy my curiosity as to what this man really was into. Unfortunately, the room didn't say much about his personality, or maybe I just couldn't quite understand the meaning behind his choice of decorations.

The bedside lamp, however, was what, to me, stood out the most in the room and as I carefully approached it to have a closer inspection of it, the landline at the bedside table, just beside the lamp, rang out, sending my soul flying out through the window.

Not sure as to whether or not I should answer, I watched it ring with the conviction that all landlines were connected and someone was going to answer from another part of the house. It rang like that for a few more seconds till the call dropped.

It was less than five seconds later and the ringing continued, pushing me to reluctantly pick it up and as I did, the masculine voice I didn't think I could recognize again said, "Did you really miss me that much?"

"You wish." I rolled my eyes, absentmindedly sitting on his bed, angry but yet, strangely excited.

"Sitting on my bed comes with a price, you know." He suddenly said, causing me to look around the room in search of him.

"And do you know what that price is?" He asked, not interested in my little search as he continued leaving me tormented by the initially statement, "Me f*cking your brains out." He added in a soft whisper.

"How did you k-" I must have swallowed too hard causing my words to come out as embarrassing stutters.

"You would like that right?" He wasn't physically here, but I could see, too clearly, the annoying smirk his face must have.

"I don't know what you mean by that but-"

"Don't worry too much, I'm already on my way to you. Stay put, my little darling." I have no idea why my heart was suddenly pounding faster against my rib cages, but it did and suddenly, a room that had its air conditioner at full blast was now steaming hot as beads of sweat formed rather quickly.

He was coming!!

Damien was on his way to me!!
