"What's next, Mortessa? What do I need to do now?" Daniel inquired, his curiosity piqued.
Mortessa paused for a moment before responding, "There's no 'next' right now, Daniel. It's time for us to part ways, at least for the moment. By the way, if i'm correct your class weapon is a gunblade right?"
Upon hearing her question, Daniel promptly replied, "Yes, it's called a Gunblade. But what exactly is a Gunblade?"
"A Gunblade is a fascinating hybrid weapon," Mortessa explained. "It combines a traditional melee sword with a built-in firearm. You can use it for both close combat and ranged attacks, making it a versatile and deadly weapon in the right hands."
Daniel's eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement. "That sounds amazing! But how do I get one? Do I have to find it or buy it somewhere?"
Mortessa grinned. "Well, you're in luck, Daniel. I happen to have one right here for you." She reached into a small interdimensional pocket and pulled out a one and half meter Gunblade. Its blade exuded an eerie, otherworldly glow, and the gun component bristled with intricate, alien technology. The weapon seemed like a terrifying fusion of death and destruction, designed to strike fear into the hearts of its foes.
Daniel stared in awe at the weapon. "Wow, that's incredible! But will the system allow it?"
"No worries, it's not that strong anyway, but this weapon will grow stronger alongside you. The stronger you become, the more potent this weapon will be. This type of weapon is known as a 'growth weapon.' Its name is Eclipse Fury," Mortessa explained as she handed the Gunblade to Daniel.
As Daniel touched the Gunblade, a notification blazed in his mind: 'Do you wish to forge a bond with Eclipse Fury?' Without hesitation, Daniel's mental response was a resounding 'Yes.' A thrilling shiver ran through his fingertips, and the weapon seemed to pulse with newfound vitality. To his astonishment, he noticed a striking tattoo of the Eclipse moon etched onto the back of his hand.
"Mortessa, what does this tattoo mean?" Daniel eagerly displayed the lunar emblem to Mortessa.
"It's the mark of your bond with your weapon, Daniel. With it, you can store Eclipse Fury within the tattoo or conceal it entirely," Mortessa explained with a knowing smile.
"How do I do that?" Daniel inquired, his curiosity piqued.
"Just focus your thoughts and give the command," Mortessa instructed.
"Get inside, Eclipse Fury," Daniel commanded, and in an instant, Eclipse Fury vanished from his grip, leaving only the mysterious moon tattoo on his hand. "conceal" Daniel command again, and this time the tattoo in the back of Daniel hand disappear.
"Are you proposing to me, Mortessa?" Daniel teased with a playful grin.
Mortessa couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh, you wish, don't you? But no, it's not a proposal. This is a spatial ring, a handy little tool. You can store your items inside, and it'll come in handy in the future. I've also tucked away some treasures you might find useful. Operating it is similar to your weapon, just a thought away. But remember, don't open it until you reach the other side."
With eager anticipation, Daniel reached out for the ring, and a notification blazed in his mind: 'Do you wish to forge a bond with the spatial ring?' His response was a swift and resolute 'Yes.'
"Alright, Daniel, it's time for you to make your move," Mortessa said, and a shimmering portal materialized behind him, its mysterious allure beckoning him to step through.
Just as he was about to ask where the portal would lead him, Mortessa planted a kiss on his cheek. Daniel was taken aback, and before he could react, Mortessa gave him a gentle push, propelling him into the swirling gateway. His shock intensified as he found himself being drawn deeper into the portal, his vision of Mortessa fading away rapidly.
The world around him blurred into a kaleidoscope of colors and sensations, and Daniel felt like he was being pulled in a thousand different directions at once. He tried to shout Mortessa's name, but the words were lost in the chaotic whirlwind of the portal.
Suddenly, everything went dark, and Daniel's consciousness slipped away, leaving him in a state of suspended animation as he hurtled through the mysterious currents of the portal, his destination unknown.
After an unknown period of time, Daniel slowly stirred from his slumber, finding himself in a comfortable bed. His eyes blinked open to reveal a familiar ceiling that sent shivers of recognition down his spine.
"Where am I? Why does this place feel so familiar?" he muttered to himself, his memories of his previous life slowly surfacing. As he attempted to rise from the bed, a sudden loss of balance sent him tumbling to the floor with a resounding crash.
"Crap, even in my next life, I'm still a cripple. How can I fulfill my promise with this body?" Daniel lamented, frustration coursing through him as he pounded his hand against the floor, the floor clearly trembling.
Just then, the door to the room swung open forcefully, revealing a slender figure who quickly rushed to Daniel's side, gently restraining his hand. "Brother, what happened? Please stop, you'll only hurt your hand," she implored.
Hearing the voice of the person he missed most, Daniel couldn't believe his ears. he hold back his hand cause he don't want to hurt her then He turned his gaze to the face that resembled his beloved sister. "A-a-are you Lisa?" he stammered, his heart pounding with disbelief.
"What's wrong, brother? Have you forgotten your own sister's face?" she replied, her eyes filled with concern.
It was like a dream he had dreamt countless times in the past, and now, once again, he was reunited with his family.
She was a spitting image of the sister he had lost in his previous life, down to the smallest detail. Now he realized that the image of Lisa was Lisa after the gate. Daniel hurriedly hugged Lisa tightly, shocking her. Normally, she was the one hugging him, but today he had taken the initiative. "Something must have happened," thought Lisa. She returned Daniel's hug, feeling his desperation and relief.
While the two of them were locked in their emotional embrace, another figure burst into the room. Judging by her disheveled appearance and the apron still tied around her waist, she had been in the middle of cooking when she heard the commotion upstairs. Her eyes widened as she took in the sight of her son and daughter hugging tightly, her heart racing with concern.
"What's going on here?" she exclaimed, her voice a mix of confusion and worry. She had heard a loud noise, like something heavy crashing to the floor, and now she saw her children embracing each other as if their lives depended on it.
Hearing his mother's voice, Daniel slowly turned his tear-streaked face toward her. "Mom," he choked out, his voice trembling with emotion.
Emma's maternal instincts kicked into high gear immediately. "What happened, baby? Are you hurt? Who hurt you?" Her protective nature emerged with a vengeance. Emma was known for her kindness, but when it came to her son and daughter, she could be fiercely protective and ruthless if necessary.
Tears continued to stream down Daniel's face, and he sniffled as he struggled to regain his composure. "No, Mom, it's not like that," he managed to say between shuddering breaths. "I've just had a really long and bad dream. But it felt so incredibly real."
Daniel knew, deep down, that it wasn't just a dream. He could still feel the changes in his body and the presence of Eclipse Fury within him. He couldn't find the words to explain what had truly happened, and he didn't want to burden them with the tragedy back then.
Emma's eyes softened with relief as she listened to her son's words. She gently stroked his hair and whispered soothingly, "It's alright, Daniel. Bad dreams can be terrifying, but you're here with us now. We'll help you through it, no matter how vivid it felt."
Lisa, still wrapped in the embrace, looked at her brother with a mix of concern and curiosity. "So, it was all just a dream, Daniel?" she asked, searching for answers.
Daniel nodded, though his expression remained troubled. "Yeah, it was just a dream... I think. But it was like nothing I've ever experienced before."
"Okay, Daniel, I think you need more rest. I'll bring your lunch later. Let me help you get back into bed," Emma said as she approached her son. However, when she tried to lift him, he didn't budge at all. "D-daniel, since when did your body become this heavy?" She was usually able to carry Daniel easily, as she had been a single mother for almost 18 years and was used to doing heavy lifting. She was strong for a woman.
"I couldn't have gained weight overnight, Mom. Maybe you're just too tired. I can get into bed by myself," Daniel replied, crawling onto his bed and climbing up effortlessly.
Emma wanted to ask him some questions, but she decided against it. If her son wanted to talk about it, he would tell her. If not, she was okay with that, as long as he was fine. "Let's go, Lisa. Your brother needs some rest."
Lisa nodded to her mother. "Rest well, brother. If you need anything, just yell at us or call us, okay?"
"I understand, Lisa. Thank you."
"Don't mention it, brother," Lisa said before closing the door.
Now alone in the room, Daniel immediately reached for his phone, which was not far from his bed, and checked the date. "Shit, tomorrow is the day the gate appeared. I need to tell Mom and Lisa to buy food." He remembered that when the gate appeared, food prices skyrocketed, and people began panic-buying, causing the prices to increase.
As he was about to call his mother, he remembered what Mortessa had said about opening the ring when he arrived. Daniel immediately commanded the ring to open, and as soon as he did, a small, spherical object flew out of the ring, emitting a soothing light, and a small hologram appeared.
"Surprised?" It was Mortessa, and she must have intentionally hidden this from him to surprise him.
