After Daniel accepted the contract, Mortessa's beautiful smile returned, and the aura of power surrounding her seemed to mellow. Her eyes, once both alluring and intimidating, now carried a hint of warmth and approval.
"Congratulations, Daniel Hansen," she said, her voice now softer, almost comforting. "You've made a the right choice by joining my faction. Embrace your newfound path, for it will be one filled with both challenges and revelations."
As Mortessa spoke, the void space around them began to shift. The trembling and lightning sounds that had filled the air earlier subsided, replaced by an eerie stillness. It was as if the chaotic tempest that had disrupted their conversation had been quelled by Mortessa's presence.
"So, Your Highness, what about that lightning that attacked my soul before?" Daniel asked curiously.
"No need for formality with me, Daniel. You can just call me Mortessa. I don't like that kind of formality from my people," Mortessa replied with a warm smile. "As for that thing, actually, we also don't know what it is. That entity has existed since ancient times, and we call it the system. The system is the one that controls the entire universe."
"The reason why the system attacked you is because you didn't have the authority to know the secrets of this world. But now, with your new status as a member of my Shadow Covenant faction, you are granted that privilege. Do you have any other questions?" She inquired, her tone open and welcoming.
"What about Earth? Is there any hope for Earth?" Daniel asked, his voice tinged with desperation.
"Unfortunately, your world is gone. The entire Earth is already under the control of other species," Mortessa replied. A mischievous smile crept across her face as she watched the dejection wash over Daniel. "Any other questions?"
"For my final question, Mortessa, why did you choose me?" Daniel inquired.
Mortessa paused for a moment, her ethereal beauty still holding his gaze. "There's no specific reason, actually. The system was the one sending you here, which means we have some destiny together. Since I became a god, this is the sixth time the system has sent someone to me, and the system has never made a wrong decision. That's why I accepted you into my faction. We only have five other people beside me as core members of the Shadow Covenant, and this is the first time I've accepted a male as my follower"
With newfound determination, he nodded. "I won't disappoint you, Mortessa. I'll do my best to live up to your expectations and make the most of this opportunity."
Mortessa's smile was genuine this time, devoid of mischief. "I have no doubt that you will, Daniel. Welcome to the Covenant of Shadows. From this moment on, your life will be forever changed."
"Since i already answered your question. Now come here i will grant you the talent befitting as core member of Shadow Covenant" after saying that Mortessa fish out a pearl as big as football from only god know where
"Before I grant you the talent, I want you to know, just like my title 'evil god,' all my talents are also considered evil, at least that's what people think. I have seven talents that I can bestow upon you: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. Five of them have already been claimed by your seniors, and the only ones available are Lust and Gluttony. Just for your information, the talent I gift you will affect your personality. If you're okay with that, place your hand on top of this pearl," Mortessa explained solemnly.
Daniel considered her words carefully. He knew that the talents he chose would shape not only his abilities but also his character. Lust or Gluttony were powerful talent, and he needed to weigh the consequences of wielding that talent.
After a moment of contemplation, he made his decision. With determination in his eyes, he placed his hand firmly on the pearl and nodded to Mortessa, signaling his readiness to accept the talents and the responsibilities that came with them.
Mortessa's eyes bore into his as she chanted an incantation in a language he couldn't comprehend. The air around them crackled with arcane energy, and the pearl began to emit a soft, pulsating light. It cast eerie shadows on the walls of the void space, creating a surreal ambiance.
To Mortessa's surprise, both talents resonated perfectly within him. This was a rare occurrence, as typically, one person's body could only contain one sin. Even when she had discovered this talent for the first time in the primordial ruins, only one sin had resonated with her and only when he become god .
"Probably this is the reason why the system sent him to me," Mortessa mused to herself. She shook her head in amazement and allowed both Lust and Gluttony to flow into Daniel's body, granting him their formidable abilities.
As the talents surged within him, Daniel could feel a profound transformation taking place. It was as though a torrent of desires and cravings had been unleashed within him. He could sense the seductive allure of Lust and the insatiable hunger of Gluttony intertwining with his very essence.
Mortessa watched with a keen eye, observing how he would handle this newfound strength and the temptations that came with it. She thought Daniel would struggle with these newfound talents, but to her surprise, he only showed a frown on his face. "Damn, why are you only frowning? Is this talent not strong enough for you? Why does your expression look like a mortal taking a dump?" she wondered silently.
'There must be something special within his body,' she thought as she delved deeper into Daniel's soul. To her surprise, she found something unimaginable inside his body—a pair of red eyes that stared back at her. She immediately realized that this being was not something she could mess with.
"Girl... How long do you intend to look?" a voice as deep as the abyss called out to her. The voice felt so cold that even a renowned evil god could be rendered mute. "Don't be afraid, little girl. I promise, in my true name, that I will not harm you."
Mortessa withdrew her consciousness from Daniel's soul, her heart pounding with a mix of curiosity and unease. She had never encountered anything like this before. "Who... or what are you?" she whispered, her voice trembling slightly.
The red eyes within Daniel's soul regarded her for a moment before responding, "I am but a fragment of a greater consciousness. Call me Ainz. I have watched over this world since its inception. Now, girl, tell me, how long has it been since the Third Primordial Great War?"
"I-I'm terribly sorry, Sir Ainz, but this is the first time I've heard about the Primordial Great War," Mortessa apologized, her voice tinged with curiosity and trepidation.
"Hmmm... it seems that it has been a long time since my absence from this world. AHAHAHA..." Ainz's laughter echoed through the void, creating an eerie atmosphere that sent shivers down Mortessa's spine.
"Sir, if I may dare to ask, what are your intentions now?" Mortessa couldn't help but wonder about the ancient being's motives and whether they might affect Daniel.
Ainz chuckled, his crimson eyes gleaming with an enigmatic light. "You can rest assured, girl. I know you're concerned that I might harm this boy. Come closer and see my current condition for yourself."
Mortessa cautiously approached Ainz and gasped as she examined his pitiful state. His limbs were tightly bound by an otherworldly treasure, a manifestation of unparalleled power. Nails, like cruel restraints, pierced each of his limbs, securing him in an excruciating position. The sight left Mortessa both fascinated and unnerved, realizing that she was in the presence of an entity that defied the laws of her world.
"Sir, if you promise not to harm this boy and my faction, I will do my best to help you get out of this place," Mortessa proposed, recognizing the potential opportunity for her and the Covenant of Shadows. With a senior as powerful as Ainz as their ally, their ambitions to explore other galaxies and traverse the barriers separating universes could become a reality.
While the Covenant of Shadows was one of the strongest factions within their universe, they had always been limited to their own galaxy. The barriers separating all galaxies from one another had proven impenetrable, an enigma they couldn't unravel. But now, with Ainz's presence, that might change.
Ainz's response held an air of indifference. "You don't need to do anything to me, actually. As I mentioned earlier, I am but a fragment of consciousness within this boy's soul. When you granted him the talent, I sensed the weakening of the seal that binds me. However, even with all my knowledge, I cannot predict the outcome of my release. Perhaps my fragment of consciousness will merge with him, or I may gain my freedom. Whichever it is, I don't truly care."
Mortessa carefully considered Ainz's words, finding that both situations appeared favorable for her and the Covenant of Shadows. "Don't worry, sir," she reassured Ainz, "I will do my best to protect Daniel."
Ainz acknowledged her commitment with a nod. "I know you will," he replied. Sensing that the moment had arrived, he added, "It looks like it's time, girl, keep my existence a secret for now from this boy."
Mortessa nodded respectfully. "I understand, sir. It's an honor to have met you."
With a quiet acknowledgment, Ainz hummed in response as Mortessa withdrew her consciousness from Daniel's soul.
Not long after, Daniel opened his eyes and found Mortessa standing before him. "Thank you so much Mortessa, i successfully integrated with the talent perfectly"
Mortessa smiled, her ethereal beauty once again radiating an unusual warmth. She found Daniel's image growing more pleasant in her eyes, a sensation she couldn't quite explain. Perhaps it was his new Lust talent or the realization that he held incredible potential for her faction. She couldn't resist the urge to hug him briefly before letting go.
"Ahahaha, you're welcome, Daniel. Come on, check your status board. You must have gained a few skills already," Mortessa said as she stepped back.
On the other side, Daniel was still taken aback by Mortessa's hug. "Oh, yeah, okay," he replied and accessed his status.

Daniel marveled at his new status; it was at least ten times better than the normal level one. Due to his disability before, he had only managed to reach level 14, and his stats back then were only slightly better than they were now. When a person gained a level, they typically received 10 points for each stat and an additional 10 free points. Of course, luck points were a different concept, where even 10 points of luck were considered lucky. However, now he had a staggering 50 points in luck, a truly extraordinary amount.
"M-Mortessa, this is insane! My stats are off the charts!" Daniel exclaimed, his voice quivering with amazement.
Mortessa couldn't help but chuckle at his astonishment. "Of course, your stats would be extraordinary. You possess the Glutton and Lust talents, two pieces of the Seven Deadly Sins, which are renowned throughout the universe. Let's put it into perspective: your five seniors, not one of them is not known for their strength, and each of them carries just one piece of the Seven Deadly Sins. But you? You've got both," she explained, pausing for dramatic effect. "I initially planned to grant you only one of these powers, but fate had other ideas. They both chose you, and I couldn't deny their decision."
A sly grin played on Mortessa's lips as she continued, "You're now the final member to join our Shadow Covenant's core team, Daniel. Remember, you carry a significant responsibility, and I won't accept failure lightly."
Daniel felt a mixture of excitement and trepidation. The immense power and newfound responsibilities weighed heavily on his shoulders. "I won't disappoint you, Mortessa. I'll make sure to prove my worth."
