Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11

He fixed his fierce gaze on mine as I gasped. He delicately touched my nose with his. When I caught sight of his moist, pink lips, my heart began to beat rapidly in my ears. Right now, I could care less about anything else in the world but having his lips on mine.

I put my palm over his cold heart in his chest before he could further murder my insides. I wished I could have felt more of his gorgeously toned flesh against my palm since his chest was hard under my fingers. I gently moved him away from me and headed for my chair, but I immediately missed his warmth.

He says indifferently, "Gotta say Ms. Jones, you look absolutely delicious this morning.

Despite the heat rising from my cheeks, I hid it with my hair. "Thank you, Mr. Bieber, and sit down."

Nate runs in and gives me an aghast expression as if to say, "What the hell?" When he turns to look at Robert, his eyes widen and, if it's at all possible, his Adams apple pops in his throat. He enters and stands next to me.

Robert looks at Nate and asks coldly, "Who's this?"

I breathe out and go to my feet. Nate, this is my associate, and I'm calling on your behalf, Mr. Woods.

I'm interrupted by "Robert Woods," he says. I've heard a lot about you and I adore your work; you're doing a fantastic job, sir, with your Pencils for Promise initiative as well.

Robert gives Nate a slight smile as his cold stare softens. I said, "Thank you."

After turning around, he takes the seat in front of me and resumes his attitude of icy determination. "Begin. Right now."

I swallow and nod. Lisa is seated next to Nate and I while I remove the questions. She signals to me with a nod that she is prepared to take them down.

I inquire, "Where did you major in business?"

The "University of Toronto."

I chuckle as I read the following query. When did you come to the realization that you wanted to work in business management?

"Seeing my grandpa run his own business and be in charge motivated me to run my own company someday," said the grandson.

I enquire, "Have you always wanted to be a CEO?"

Yes, he simply replies.

"And why exactly is that?"

He chuckles, "You get a lot of money and you're constantly on top. I think he was using a sexual phrase with the last one.

I took a sip and nodded as I read the questions. "It says you're not from America; where are you from specifically?"

"Canada."

Are all of your family members in your hometown or do you have any here in New York?

He says in a bored voice, "Home."

What has been your career's pinnacle thus far?

He continues, fidgeting with the ring on his index finger, "Building three schools and giving kids a chance at an education." He is staring intently at my hands. I saw that, like him, I was also fiddling with my basic silver spinner ring on my index finger. I'm about to smile, but I decide against it since I don't want him to see.

His eyes turned black, and he tightened his hands at his sides. "It says here that you had a hard time growing up and didn't have much money." Was this a factor in your desire to achieve your current level of wealth?

He answers in an ominous tone, "Yes," which freaks the hell out of me.

Nate appeared to be exactly as terrified as I am as I looked at him. He nodded as he came up with something after I gave him a look that appeared to say, "Do something."
