Chapter 10 - 10. Reminiscing of both good and bad time with Ruoxi Yang

Getting home, he reminisces over the good times he spent with his ex-girlfriend, Ruoxi Yang.

He smiled when he remembered the number of times Ruoxi Yang had thrown a tantrum because she wanted to be pampered like a baby by He Jinyong. And when he refused to do what she wanted, she became angrier.

Jinyong loved Ruoxi so passionately that he planned to marry her. But she had succeeded in ruining his plans with her nonchalance and was not ready to change her bad side.

Although Ruoxi was good to some extent, she wasn't the type to want to be told what to do and what not to do.

She hated being told what to do and how to live her life. Especially when we are coming from getting a boyfriend.

**********

Ruoxi was the only daughter of a multi-billionaire father. She was in her early twenties and, most of the time, acted and talked like a little child. She had the nature of a kid and refused to grow up when it came to handling things her friends could handle so well.

She was spoilt by both parents, and she was now a big bone stuck in her parent's throats.

They now find it hard to restrict her from doing some things she was fond of doing that her parents see as improper.

A day came when her mom, Mrs. Yang, tried to talk some sense into her. Letting her know that she was no longer a kid and she should stop doing things kids do.

She got infuriated by what her mom had asked her to do.

She felt less concerned about what her mom had told her; to her, she was behaving the way she was supposed to be behaving.

*******

They were both in clear contrast to each other. Ruoxi was highly extroverted, and Jinyong was highly introverted.

She went clubbing on every clubbing day, even against her parent's warnings and instructions, and Jinyong wasn't that kind of person.

That was one of the things Jinyong tried to change about Ruoxi Yang, but she was a hard nut to crack.

One good thing about Fang is that she was an honest person. She could tell what she had done wrong, not minding the outcome of her truthfulness.

Although she had always known that she could get away with anything she had done wrong, that alone had contributed massively to why she always did what people around her hated.

Jinyong had broken up with her when he saw that she was not ready to change. He was patient and way more mature in age and life experience.

The love he had for her and the age difference contributed to why he was patient with Ruoxi as she changed.

He saw her as a little spoiled brat that needed to be cared for, and he thought of the right things to do at the right time.

They had had a tough argument on a faithful day.

He called Ruoxi to show up at his house one evening, and she did exactly what Jinyong had instructed her to do by showing up at his place.

He said to himself that that was going to be the end of his relationship with Ruoxi Yang. But how was he going to achieve that without making her feel so hurt about it?

"Hello, doll, how are you doing today?" He spoke as soon as the call went through. He had called her the name he fondly calls her.

"I'm doing quite alright. What about you?" She responded.

"Can you come over to the house right now?" Jinyong spoke in a tone that depicted command.

"Are you ordering me to come to your house? Aren't you supposed to be calm when talking to me?" She spoke in a tone that indicated she didn't like how Jinyong had ordered her.

Please, I need you to come over; I need to see you," he said apologetically.

He knew that if he had not done that, there was no way Ruoxi would visit him.

"Alright. I will be on my way now. See you shortly."

She hung up the call and dropped the phone in one of the coaches in the living room as she dashed into her room to get dressed.

In less than an hour, she was already at Jinyong's apartment.

She didn't bother making use of the bell outside that indicated that someone was at the door before you went inside. She was fond of doing that, and that made Jinyong not bother locking his door whenever he was expecting Ruoxi.

The last time he had his four doors locked, Ruoxi came and didn't bother knocking, and she left angrily. That got them quarreling.

Although Jinyong didn't see that habit of hers as anything, even if he didn't like it, that was not his major challenge. His major challenge was how to get her other bad sides.

He believed that if he could stop her from drinking and smoking, then changing the other side wouldn't be a big challenge for him.

She got inside and called out Jinyong's name.

"Jin!..Jin!!... Jin!!" She called out repeatedly, as if she were propelled to do so.

She was the only one who abbreviated Jinyong's name.

"You are here," he said as he gradually placed his hand around her waist, hugging and kissing passionately as if he had missed her.

"Yes, Jin. I'm here for you." She spoke in a calm, peaceful, and romantic tone, as if she were whispering.

Jinyong already got the message Ruoxi was passing to him. She wanted it, and he was prepared to disappoint her.

He didn't invite her over to make out with her.

He let loose on her all of a sudden as he spoke in an unusual tone.

"I asked you to come over so that we could talk about us and not for lovemaking. Ruoxi, please have a seat. Let's talk.

This brought her back to herself again. It became clear to her that Jinyong wasn't happy, and she suspected it was because of her. He only called her by her name whenever he was angry.

But what had she done wrong? She was used to getting him angry, but she can't remember getting him angry on this very day.

She didn't remember offending him over the phone either, so why was he so angry with her?

"What do you want us to talk about?" She asked

"I want us to talk about us," he replied.

"What about us, Jin?"

"Are we going to continue in this relationship with no plans from your angle?"

"I don't get you, Jin; what are you saying?"

"You don't seem to understand what I just said, right? Fine. Let me be more explicit on this.

Will you accept getting married to me if I propose to marry you?" Jinyong asked.

"Rubbish! Don't tell me you called me here because of this rubbish you are saying out of your mouth.

It had better not be.

Does it look like Ruoxi has any plans to get married? Even if I want to, not even now, not in 5 years."

"Ruoxi, I have not asked you to get married to me now; it was just a simple question that requires a simple answer, not the complicated answer you just gave me," Jinyong responded in a confused state.

He didn't know what to do at this juncture; he was completely confused. It became very clear to him that Ruoxi was not going to get married to him, not even once.

"Jin, must everybody get married? Not everyone is destined to be married. I am very much convinced that I am one of those people who aren't destined to get married.

If you love me, I see no reason why you should talk to me about marriage ever again.

Let's just live our lives and be happy. "

He had now gotten a clear picture of what Ruoxi wanted. He was not ready to ever settle down maritally; as far as she was concerned, marriage is not compulsory.

But was she going to throw away two years of their life together as lovers? Jinyong was a marriage-inclined kind of person, so not getting married is what he is against.

He truly wanted to get married to have his own family, and he happened to be the only child in his family.

Not getting married is not an option.

But why is Ruoxi Yang against marriage? Is she having a marriage phobia? Her mom and dad are very much together. Both parents don't live separately, and they are happily married even after giving birth to their children.

"My doll, please don't talk that way. No one is destined not to bring forth another life into this life. If your parents hadn't given birth to you, I don't think you would be here having this conversation with me.

Please make babies together when the time comes. I am ready to wait until you are ready to settle down with me. Okay? He said he was trying to convince her.

"You don't seem to understand me at all. Marriage sucks. I don't think I can go into it and stay there for the rest of my life. It's not what I can handle."

She sounded like her mind was made up about marriage. She wasn't going to change whatever philosophy she had about marriage.

"Who has been feeding you with all these philosophies about marriage? You are not from a broken home. Your parents are together and living very happily together.

You should try to emulate them."

"You disgust me if marriage is what you want from me. Sorry to say this, but I am done with you."

"Doll, I haven't said anything to warrant this. Why are you so mad at me?"

"Your words hurt me, and you have failed to understand that we are two different people with different ideas and philosophies about life. We are not even compatible for marriage."

"No Ruoxi. We can still make a perfect match; it's just a matter of time before we get to understand each other. I love you so much, and I can't imagine me without you by my side."

"Really? Do you love me? What don't you understand? Everybody complains about my lifestyle; they don't see anything good about me.

I can't even be a good wife to you.

Since I love you, I can't let you make the greatest mistakes of your life by ending up with me." Ruoxi sounded so pathetic and emotional.

"I love you, and that's why I am letting you go. I want you to be happy, my love. Your happiness is of great importance to me.

I don't want to be the architect of your pain and agony," she said with her eyes full of tears, but she didn't let them drop.

"My doll, I truly love you, and I don't care what people say about you. I think well of you, and I am ready to adapt to your lifestyle. Please don't do this to me. I have gotten used to you already; how do I start another chapter of my love life with someone else?" Jinyong spoke as he let down tears from his eyes while he pleaded.

"Don't say that; you cannot compromise by truncating your good reputation because of me.

My parents despised my way of life so much, forgetting that they didn't raise me properly.

If they could despise me the same way they raised me, what makes you think that you can adapt? Jin, it's easier said than done, so don't try getting into it in the first place."

"Just don't forget that one spoilt brat was once in your life. She loved you, but her love for you was not strong enough to make her change her ways to please you." Ruoxi Yang concluded as she walked out of Jinyong's apartment through the doorway without looking back at Jinyong.

Jinyong broke down in tears after Ruoxi had gone. He became a shadow of himself. Ruoxi was extremely stubborn, but he loved to be with her, not minding her stubbornness.

Days later, he tried reaching her through the phone, but her number wasn't going through. He went to her parent's house to see her and discovered that they had relocated to another city.

It then dawns on him that that was what gave Ruoxi Yang the mind to break up with him in that manner.

It took him some time to accept the fact that Ruoxi Yang was no longer his girlfriend, and their communication ended the day she broke up with him.

He never stopped loving her until he set his eyes on Wang Fang. Who had taken that special place in Jinyong's heart that was once occupied by Ruoxi Yang?
