I'm not going to do that with you. Aren't you supposed to do the cooking alone?"
"Fang, you know that I'm only here to help out. If you want me to help out, you just have to assist me to make it easier for me."
Fang assisted her friend in the kitchen to do the cooking. She did that reluctantly, though; she didn't want Min to change her mind about cooking the spaghetti for lunch.
In less than 40 minutes, they were done preparing lunch, and Min dished out some spaghetti for them to eat together.
While they were still eating, they heard someone ring the bell, which indicated that someone was at the door.
"Are you expecting someone? Min asked.
"Not really. Who could that be?"
"Maybe you should go check who is at the door," Min suggested.
Fang stood up and rushed to the door. Unfortunately, when she got there, there was nobody at the door. She wondered if what she heard wasn't right.
She heard a knock on the door, which showed that someone was there. Why didn't the person wait to be attended to?
She went back inside since she didn't see anybody there.
"Min, are you sure you heard correctly? There's no one at the door!"
"Are you saying no one was standing there by the time you got there?"
"Yes! But.. Wait! Let it not be what I am thinking, though."
"What are you thinking?"
"What if the Chang of a guy was the person that came around? What if he discovered that I wasn't the only one in the house and decided to leave immediately?"
"I don't think he was the one. If he was the one, he could have waited to see you. Besides, according to what you said earlier, he is interested in knowing you; if he was serious, though, my presence can't stop that from happening in the first place."
"Well, he had better not be the one because if he was the one who made use of the bell and couldn't wait to be answered, then he must be up to something. Not just wanting to know me; there's more to that."
"If he was sent by your ex as you claimed, then one has to be very careful, and it could also be that Wei wants to make up with you, but he needs to be sure that you are not seeing anyone yet."
"If that is his plan, then I am not in for that. I won't let that happen. Not after meddling with my heart."
"What if he comes back as a changed person, ready to make amends? Probably take you to the aisle; are you going to say no to that?"
"Min, sometimes you talk like you don't know what I'm capable of doing. My mind is made up, and I am sure I won't be accepting him back into my life if he tries to make that happen.
As for the getting married thing, does it look like I am desperate to get married?"
"My point exactly! I know you too well, and I see you as someone so weak when it comes to the love angle; hence, you can easily be swayed into accepting Wei back.
Secondly, you hide things a lot from me. You might even accept him back without letting me know."
"Please, let's eat this meal in peace. I don't know what you are talking about."
"Who knows, maybe your shattered heart has been put together into good shape by another guy that you have failed to talk to me about."
"I can see you want to get choked by this food. And when that happens, I will make sure you don't have a drop of water in this house."
"Then, be ready to be interrogated as to why I died in your house. You are going to be arrested for that. You should know by now that it's almost impossible not to talk while we eat."
Two hours later, Fang and Min decided to take a walk around the estate where Fang lived. Min was already getting tired of staying inside the house. She then suggested that they take a walk around, just to feel their eyes.
At first, Fang objected to that because she rarely does that. She could stay indoors for days without stepping out, and her neighbors wouldn't know that she was indoors. She does this all the time when she isn't going to work, especially on weekends.
She agreed to take a walk with Min because she did not want to bore her with her indoor lifestyle.
Just while they were on it, somebody tapped Fang from behind, and she turned swiftly to know who that person was.
"Are you following me around? Who are you, and who sent you to me?"
"Like I said before, my name remains Chang. Secondly, nobody sent me to you. I saw you this morning, and I approached you like a gentleman who is interested in a lady would do."
"And now you've decided to draw my attention to you by tapping me on my shoulder? What an immature way of seeking attention!"
"I'm sorry if you didn't like that, but...
Chang was interrupted by Fang, as he could not finish saying what he wanted to say before Fang chipped in with her words.
"Of course I don't like it. No reasonable lady would want such things done to her. By the way, how may I help you? Why have you decided to keep stalking me?"
Hello, Chang, My name is Zhang Min. You can decide to do away with the Zhang and call me Min. Min introduced herself to Chang since Fang wasn't ready to do that.
"Hi Min. You already know my name. Are you friends with Fang? Chang asked
"Yes. We are friends. We are not just friends; we are like sisters. We've been friends since our childhood days."
"I see. That is nice. So do you two live together?"
"Yes. Do you have any issues with that? Min asked as she gave Chang the stare of an investigator performing his duty while both arms were crossed.
"Not at all. I was thinking she lives alone."
"No. We live together. We are more like sisters."
At this juncture, to Fang, Min was beginning to talk way too much. She least expected that from her friend. Although she knew what Min was up to, she was trying to stick to their initial agreement of getting close to Chang to be able to know if he was sent by anybody to keep an eye on Fang.
But to Fang, she was doing too much; she should take it one step at a time.
"Enough of all this drama going on here. Shall we get going, Min?"
"Not yet. But someone is standing right in front of both of us, and we can't just act like we are not seeing anyone."
At this point, Fang was fed up with Min's attitude toward being involved in an interaction with Chang. This was getting out of hand, and she wouldn't want to be rude to her in front of Chang.
"Please, Chang, do me this favor by not stalking me. I am not interested in being your friend. Fang Said
"I understand your point. But I can't do what you are asking of me because I like you a lot, and not being my friend is not going to stop me from liking you.
Let me just have your digits, then I promise to stop following you about."
"Now you are beginning to sound like someone who was sent to monitor every move I make.
Please take this message to whoever sent you; tell that person that he is a fool for not doing this job by himself because I know it's a guy who sent you."
Zhang Min was busy looking at her friend while she talked to Chang. To her, she was trying to ruin their plans to get to the bottom of it all.
How on earth does Fang intend to know if Chang was sent or not when she refuses to give him her number? And why is she trying to push this guy away from her, knowing full well that she won't get to the bottom of this if she continues the way she is handling it?
"That's enough. Fang, you can't conclude that Chang was sent if you don't get to know him better. Why don't you just give him your number to start with? Min Suggested
"Uhm... Okay. Let me have your phone." Fang asked to have Chang's phone so she could punch in her digits.
Immediately after the phone was given to her, she punched in her digits. Although she wasn't happy doing that, Min had a point there. If she had not done that, Chang would have kept stalking her, and she in turn would have kept suspecting him to be from Li Wei.
What if he wasn't from Wei, like she thought?
To find out, she had to give her number to him.
"Thanks a lot for the number. Please, when is your convenient time to take calls?"
Chang appreciated Fang for releasing her number.
"You can call her anytime since it's the weekend." Min helped Fang respond to Chang since she was going to take time to give him a response.
"Now that you have forgotten my number, I hope this helps you to stop stalking me with your movements. And please, don't stalk me with calls and text messages."
"Alright then. I won't do that. So where are you girls heading to?"
"Nowhere in mind exactly. We are just taking a walk around the estate, just to feel our eyes," Min responded.
"Okay. Tomorrow is Sunday; will you girls have a chance so we can hang out for dinner? Chang asked.
Fang knew Min was going to provide an answer that would be against her wishes, so she quickly pressed her to say no to Chang's request.
"You just have to give us today to think about it. Maybe when you call Fang later in the day, she will provide an answer to that." Zhang Min responded
"Alright. Let me leave you girls to continue with your walk. Fang, please take my call when I call you later this evening."
"She would do that," Min responded.
Just after Chang left, Fang turned and looked at her friend as she uttered
"I hope you are aware that you just got me angry."
"Ooh? I didn't know. What have I done wrong this time around, Miss?"
"You don't know? You can't tell me you don't know. Why would you ask me to give that stalker my number?"
"Ooh, that. I thought that was the right thing to do in the first place. To stop him from stalking you.
Secondly, you can't find out if he was sent until you get close to him."
"You act like you know it all. You started conversing with him even when you knew I was trying to let him know that he shouldn't be stalking me."
"That's enough. You allow little things to get to you so easily, and that's very bad of you, honestly. Min said as she grabbed Fang's hands while they continued walking.
**********
It was already 7 p.m. Fang's phone started ringing just as she was about to go to the bathroom to have a cool bath after the day's stroll with her friend.
"That should be Chang calling, I presume. Just check who the caller is," Min said.
"There is no point in checking. Who else did you force me to give my number to if not Chang?"
"Please take the call and stop talking too much."
Before she could take the call, it had already gone out.
"That caller is going to call back, that I am sure of."
She was still talking when the phone started ringing for the second time.
"Min. This It isn't Chang."
