"Congratulations, Gray Waterfell, You have finally reached level 19. It was not easy, but you finally made it." the human god bathed in pure white light that obstructed his facial features, spoke amicable.
"I am so proud of you!"
Gray swung his large broad sword in the air and pierced it into the ground. He got on his knees, his heavy armour that was on the verge of breaking apart creaked loudly as he did.
Steam oozed from his body.
Gray was a very big man with black hair and fair skin, he radiated masculinity that was thick and commanding.
"You have finally undergone the baptism of lightning and fire and now one step closer to ascending to level 20 and become a god. Once at this stage, you will have enough soul energy to behold my face, the face of a god and not break into salt and dust."
Gray nodded. He carried a solemn look on his face as he bowed, "Lord human god, to behold your face would be a privilege but I seek not such outlandish pleasure, but the suffering of paving the path for humanity to follow and climb to the peak of grace."
The human god chuckled lightly. His voice seemed to echo off the very trees of the forest, and at the same time, sounded like the soft whisper of a mother soothing her child to sleep.
"You are really a humble one. Only desiring the rise of the human race and the building of its future. It is for this reason that I choose you to be the anchor of the growth of our race. The spear that will break through the oppression and lead us into a brighter, more domineering future."
"Thank you, human god. It's just that..." Gray immediately held his tongue.
The human god noticed this, "My child, talk to me. Tell me the worry that burdens your heart."
"It's nothing, my lord. It's just that... I would like to know. I know that I am not yet there, but I would really like to know. As a god, will I become immortal?"
The human god chuckled a little. As he did, a fierce wind blew and the sky rumbled with thunder. However, Gray was not afraid. He remained bowed as he was.
Right now, he was in the safest place. After all, this was the presence of a god. Even the skies obeyed when he called.
"The path of immortality is not a light one. As it comes with the benefit of life, it also comes with the cost of it." The human god waved his hand, and an image of a dam appeared.
This dam like any, was made entirely of wood, and it held a lot of water back.
However, over time, it began to wear and crack, and the villagers had to change the wood that was used to make the dam.
Gray watched the image and frowned, "My lord, i do not understand."
"Gray my child, for every action, there is a reaction. For life gifted, life is taken. A tree grows for it to spit its seeds into the ground to grow again. But for that to happen, the seed must die in the earth for it to be reborn."
The human god saw that Gray's confusion only increased. Apparently, Gray's mind could not comprehend the message he gifted.
"Put simply, immortality has a price. sometimes cheap, sometimes very expensive, either way, it will take its fee..."
...
Instantly, Gray opened his eyes. A jolt of pain that slowly eased up perambulated his body.
His head ached a bit but slowly cleared up.
Just now, those images, that dream. It was all just memories from his former life.
Gray felt as if his body was slightly heavy, but he slowly adjusted into it.
After all, this was not his first time.
Yes, Gray knew what had happened. At least this feeling he got could not be mistaken he had died.
"Shit!" he cursed lowly, "Who knew that using a high-level technique like the spectra kill would instantly kill me after my opponent.
I was too confident and careless. I would have to trim the technique to a simpler version if I ever want to use it again."
Just then, a heavy body slammed into him, pushing him back to the ground.
Then came the tears showering down his body.
"Brother Gray!" Cherry sobbed her eyes out.
Gray found himself surprisingly relive to have seen her. He let her cry a little as he patted her head gently.
However, the moment he raised his head to look around, he frowned.
Something was not right right.
The people he shared a cage with were different. These were not faces that he recognized. In fact, they were not even Werewolves. They were Werecats, Leprechaun, and Hobbits, but no Werewolves.
Immediately, he grabbed the edge of the cage and looked outside. Even the faces of the hunters that guard them had changed.
These were all Aztec men.
Gray turned to his sister, "Cherry, how long was I out!"
She scratched her head trying to think but she was just six, her mathematics and knowledge of the world were still narrow.
"You were out for two hours!" A voice responded. "They bought you and your sister for seven gold coins each!" he whistled, "That's quite pricey!"
It was the Leprechaun in the corner.
Gray nodded politely, "Thank you."
However, his heart was in instant turmoil. After all, this was two whole hours. He had been really dead for two whole hours.
This had never happened in his life before. All the times he had died, he had immediately popped back to life in only a few seconds.
Two hours was a lot.
But this had not happened before. his mind calculated the possibility and why it happened and he came to a realization he could not believe himself.
It was one that could potentially solve his unaliving problem, if not relatively, then it could solve it permanently.
But at the same time, it could help him grant his wish.
This only happened after he increased from level zero to level one in strength...
