Outside, all the reinforcements were pointing their guns at the store. After hearing the shots coming from inside, they quickly became alert and reacted.
In front of everyone, the captain in charge of the reinforcements was looking at the store with a frown on his face, then, a short time later, Nathan appeared, taking the agent hostage.
The captain quickly raised his hand indicating for everyone to stand still, then Nathan stopped as he walked out and looked at everyone sighing internally.
'What did I get myself into?'
Suddenly seeing them leave, the captain growled in annoyance and was about to speak, but suddenly Nathan interrupted him.
"I'm going to walk away, I don't want any of you to do anything, you just need to stand still, and we'll all get out of this alive"
Hearing his words, the captain looked at the corpses of the agents the cadets had killed and then looked back at Nathan.
"Can you say that about my subordinates?"
Nathan was silent. He knew there was no way to convince them that he had nothing to do with their deaths and that he didn't agree with what was going on.
So he sighed and as he had indicated before he began to walk slowly toward an alley next to the building where he was standing.
The captain did not say anything and just watched him, clearly annoyed, not only him, but all the agents behind him were looking at Nathan with murderous intent.
Unconsciously, his gaze fell on Tana and Lynn, who were badly wounded but seemed to have survived. Both of them also looked at him with hatred, even the innocence with which Lynn had started the fight was nowhere to be seen.
Just belonging to Khan alone made everyone there loathe him, only one person looked at him neutrally.
Faye was somewhat distant with other agents healing her, her blue eyes stared at him but unlike the others, she didn't seem to want to kill him.
'I guess she's the only one who doesn't hate you...' Amelia whispered inside his mind.
Nathan nodded slightly.
'Well... I saved her, I guess she's grateful in her own way'
Under everyone's gaze, Nathan reached the alley and began to walk backwards, entering the alley next to the agent who was still scared.
When Nathan reached the deepest part of the alley, he pushed the agent and quickly ran away. In turn, the captain raised his hand and shouted.
"Fire!"
The agent Nathan had used as a hostage reacted to his captain's words and without thinking threw himself to the ground.
Dozens of bursts of gunfire passed over his head, aimed at Nathan, who had already left the scene moments before the shots were fired.
The captain raised his hand for them to stop and then gave instructions again.
"Squad one and two! Don't let him get away!"
Quickly both squads begin to enter the alley to pursue Nathan, while the other agents finished taking care of the rest.

'They're chasing us'
Nathan kept running as he nodded at Amelia's words.
'It doesn't matter... they'll have a hard time following me right now'
Saying that, Nathan suddenly came across several calamity corpses strewn on the ground as other calamities devoured them.
Hearing something approaching, the calamities raised their heads and stared at Nathan, then a moment later his katana cut off their heads, killing them instantly.
Nathan only finished off the calamities that were in his way, leaving the others alive to hinder the pursuing agents.
'Now what are you going to do?' Amelia asked him.
Nathan dodged the bite of one calamity and then killed another.
'I don't know... Lloyd has quite a bit of influence inside Khan, I guess meeting them isn't an option. I also can't stay in the city where the government has eyes everywhere'
Without thinking too much, Nathan took off his mask and put it inside his coat, then continued running through the alleys until he reached an empty street where it seemed that the civilians had already been evacuated.
There were hundreds of dead bodies of calamities everywhere, as well as several bodies of both government agents and Khan's soldiers, even some civilians.
Nathan began to walk through the corpses but without missing a beat, knowing that the agents were still chasing him.
'My only option right now is to go to a place where the government doesn't have its eyes on, taking advantage of the fact that Khan is busy killing them and capturing parts of the city'
Amelia thought for a few seconds, then an idea came into her head.
'The black market?'
Nathan nodded.
'Yes... the only problem is that I'm not sure of the exact locations of the entrances. Besides the market is far away from here, it's not feasible to enter from there'
After becoming a mercenary, Nathan bought a map of the city, which indicated where the entrances to the market were, however, he didn't have it with him and didn't really remember the locations of the entrances very well.
Nathan looked back at the alley he had come out of and then, seeing that no one was following him, he sighed.
'Let's lose them first'
Nathan looked around and saw a clothing store, so, without thinking, he quickly went there and entered.
Taking some clothes, he exchanged his torn and bloody clothes for completely clean ones and went back out of the store, checking that no one was around.
