Chereads / Death Premonition / Chapter 112 - Proposal

Chapter 112 - Proposal

Nathan suddenly opened his eyes with a great pain that assaulted his entire body.

Moaning with discomfort, Nathan froze as he found himself surrounded by a sea of blood... with a mountain of his own corpses right in front of him.

Nathan immediately remembered the place where he was, it was the world of blood he had visited for the first time after he had fallen asleep after his first fight against Gril and Tana back in the upper realm.

That time Amelia had devoured his essence to knock him out, and this time it was no different as Nathan remembered Enarys' words before he fell asleep.

However, something was different, and that was that instead of being on top of the mountain of corpses, he was now looking down on her.

Nathan had to crane his neck to see the top of the mountain, which was much larger than the last time he had been here.

Then a great shiver ran through his body as he met a pair of eyes looking down at him from the top of the mountain.

In disbelief, Nathan saw himself on the top of the mountain, raising his right arm to the sky as if he was reaching for something.

His other self-did not stop raising his arm as he continued to look at him with his emotionless green eyes.

Then Nathan began to feel something he had not felt in a long time and thought he had forgotten.

He felt fear.

A moment later his vision changed again and now in front of him there was a pair of purple eyes that looked at him with tenderness and tranquility.

Nathan swallowed saliva feeling his throat dry, and he turned his head slightly and looked around.

Once again he was on the rooftop next to Enarys, resting his head on her thighs.

Nathan only sighed at Enarys' gaze and instead covered his face with his right hand.

'...What was that?'

Suddenly, Nathan felt Enarys begin to slightly indulge his head, then he opened a space between his fingers and looked at her.

"Did you have a nightmare?" She asked him.

Nathan was silent before he sighed again and sat up leaving the comfort of Enarys' legs.

"How long was I asleep?"

Enarys tilted her head thoughtfully.

"A couple of hours maybe?"

Nathan scratched his eyes and looked up again.

"Why do I remember you telling me something rather dangerous?"

Enarys tilted her head tenderly again.

"I have no idea what you're talking about"

'Are you okay?" Amelia asked taking advantage of a moment of silence.

Nathan finally stood up and stretched his healed legs.

'I am' His gaze settled on Enarys. 'She has a pretty strong healing technique... enough to even regenerate my blood'

Nathan closed his eyes and concentrated on feeling his essence.

He had spent a good amount in his fight against the pterodactyl, and what he had left over was used by Enarys to heal him.

In the couple of hours he had been asleep, Nathan had regained a little of his essence, but it was nowhere near enough to deal with what was happening in the streets below.

Without having seen it with his own eyes, Nathan walked over to the edge of the building and leaned against the railing to look down at the streets.

'Shit...'

Dozens of human corpses were littering the streets with hundreds of walking calamities as they fought each other for food.

Then Nathan saw the crane and the corpse of the large pterodactyl crushed by it. The, turning away from the railing, he massaged his temple without knowing what to do.

Enarys stood up again, shook out her beautiful white dress, walked to the railing and also looked at the streets.

"A cataclysm... I never thought I'd experience one in full epicenter" Enarys tilted her head with some confusion. "Though it doesn't seem to have peaked yet"

Nathan frowned and looked at her in confusion.

"Its peak?"

Enarys nodded.

"A cataclysm caused by an upper realm, but I only see first and second rank calamities in the streets. where are the third rank ones?"

Nathan looked up at the great castle rising to the heavens and closed his eyes slightly suspiciously.

He had no idea how many third rank calamities currently resided within the castle, but Nathan knew of two in specific.

The first was the man who looked more like a corpse than a person... with whom he had shared a not so pleasant dinner the first few days he was in the upper realm.

The second calamity was the one they had gone hunting with Mary and the others, who, although he had killed Seinor and used his body, Nathan knew that the calamity was still alive.

Those were only two that he knew of, but Nathan had no doubt that there were more third rank calamities inhabiting within the castle.

"Well... there's not much I can do" Nathan looked at Enarys again. "What are you planning?"

Enarys finally smiled when Nathan got to the point of their conversation.

"Work for me"

"Huh?"

Nathan frowned at Enarys' request.

"You want me to work for you, why? you already have several guards that together are stronger than me"

Enarys snorted and folded his arms.

"How boring you are... then let's put it this way. You're a mercenary right? then I'll put in a unique request... and you're lucky that you're the first to see it. Will you accept it?"

Nathan was silent, doubting Enarys' words.

"The pay will certainly be juicy too"

Nathan frowned even more but this time he was not so quick to accept Enarys' proposal.

Compared to when they were at the hotel, things had changed, and now any false move could cost him his life. At this moment Nathan was not only thinking about the money, but also about his own life.

Seeing that he still did not accept, Enarys sighed.

"... It's not like it's a suicide mission, why don't you wait to hear my proposal before you refuse?"

Nathan finally resigned himself and looked at her with tired eyes.

"Fine... let's hear your proposal"
