Jaden was going to go on an airplane. He had actually never been on one. New York was a big city, why should he have to leave? That had been his thought for his whole life.
Until now.
For most men, going on a spur-of-the-moment vacation with a beautiful woman who had pulled some strings to get you time off work would be living in paradise.
With this woman, it was more like hell!
They sat next to each other on the plane. Sofia paid for first-class tickets and the luxury was excessive. Golden outlines and complimentary champagne? Good thing he wasn't paying.
Money radiates a certain warmth that Jaden always enjoyed. It made him feel as though he had soared through the ranks of a business and become the peerless CEO.
However this warmth was absolutely cut to pieces by the wall of ice beside him.
Sofia hadn't said a word since they had met up at the airport. Jaden had expected a quick "hello", maybe some sort of flustered conversation. But there was nothing. A wall would have been more talkative.
A 17 hour flight beside this ice-cold wall!? What did he do to deserve this suffering?
He stood up. "I'm going to stretch my legs. Bye."
To his surprise, Sofia jumped out of her seat!
"I shall come as well."
No one invited you!
The two of them had a private cabin to themselves, which made the awkward atmosphere even worse. Anything would be better than sitting in silence.
And so the two of them began to walk down the airplane. It really was a very nice airplane. Jaden had no experience traveling, but he assumed most airplanes did not come with plush carpets or a fully stocked bar.
Sofia stopped walking suddenly: "Ah!"
Hm? Jaden stopped to see what she would be looking at. There had better not be a monster on the plane already.
But no, the only thing there was a flight attendant carrying a tray of exquisite pastries. Jaden didn't care much for sweets so he hadn't noticed before. But Fofia was staring with stars in her eyes.
"Do you want one?" He asked, expecting her to deny it and walk away.
But to his surprise: "I…wouldn't mind trying one."
She had a sweet tooth? An unexpectedly cute character trait for such a stern woman. A crack was beginning to break through the ice! Why was he suddenly interested to see if he could melt it even more?
He went over to the flight attendant and picked out some sort of fancy chocolate cake thing. He gave it to Sofia. "I hope you like chocolate."
"I shall give it a try, because you put so much effort into obtaining it. Do not be mistaken, I have no interest in such things, I just hate wastefulness." She sounded unimpressed, but her face looked as happy as could be. The sweet smile made her face another level of cute.
"Ehe, sorry to interrupt you lovebirds..!"
Lovebirds!? There couldn't be more of a mistake!
Jaden snapped out of the moment. This sort of misunderstanding was nothing but embarrassing! The thought of someone seeing him made him want to drop down dead. Sofia had abandoned her cake, any softness on her face replaced with a cold impenetrable stare.
They both looked at who had interrupted them.
It was the flight attendant! He had an amused smile on his face.
Ah, good thing it was only him. A worker on such a plane would be halfway across the world by next evening. Jaden was looking forward to never seeing him ever again.
And then the attendant pulled out a gun.
