Chapter 13 - Send in Another

"Father, you were one of the supernaturals right? What exactly is it that they do?" A seven year old Malakai asked his father.

"Supernaturals. They are people given power by the government to keep the balance in this world." His father responded with the simplest words he could find.

"Balance? What does that mean?" Malakai asked.

"I also never really understood it. I do think it has something to do with the reason humans are only this much populated now. Years ago, the world was being ravaged by beings I never really understood. Sorry, my memory is failing, but I knew that this world was plunged into darkness. The very first supernaturals, Kings Renjiro, Constantine, Roderick, Elias and Queen Brielle, fought with their might and inexplicable powers against the enemies. Since then, they've been ruling and recruiting more people and making them just as they are, calling them Supernaturals."

"You keep saying, they and them, aren't you a supernatural as well?" Malakai asked.

"I, I am. I was." Victor responded looking at his shaky hands. He had an odd feeling and felt like there was an empty space in his head. Nothing was making sense to him. "I left, I didn't want to be part of them anymore."

"Why?"

"They were, the rulers were... it all was, uhm." His father the held his head in his hands.

"Father, are you okay?"

"Malakai, leave your father be. You are straining him," his mother said picking him up and placing him on her lap while she sat next to her husband.

"I didn't mean to. I just wanted to know more about supernaturals, maybe I can be one someday."

"No!" His father suddenly shouted scaring him. "You will never ever be a supernatural!" He left the room and went outside.

"Don't ever speak of that again. No more talks supernaturals, do you hear me?" His mother said.

"Y-yes mother." He responded. She kept him on the bed and went after he husband.

"Windham?" She called out seeing him staring into the dark night sky.

"Justina, I don't know what's wrong with me." He said his body slowly shaking. "I get scared when I think of them, what they did. I can't believe I was part of such a thing." His wife walked up to him and placed her hand gently on his shoulder and then moved to his front.

"It hurts to think of it. I don't even know why, ah-I can't remember why. Something was taken from me. I'm not even as strong as I used to be. Justina, I, I don't.."

"Shh! It's okay." She cupped his cheek with her left hand. "You are okay. Just stop trying to remember, it's probably for the best that you forget it. I don't like seeing you this way." She said staring into his eyes.

"Aw, it caught him." A lady said with a bit of a frown looking at the boy get eaten.

"Would you look at that, this one's a fighter."

"He's, he's still going?" They were surprised seeing that the little boy who was supposed to be torn to shreds by now, was pushing the beast's body off of him.

When he got hit and thrown off, he still held the knife and refusing to let the beast sink in deeper than it already had, he stabbed the creature in its head causing it to scream and move off. With his only good arm, he tried to push the beast that frantically moved about off him.

He successfully got it off and tried to push his body away from it. One of his arms was now useless, his other arm was over his torn and bleeding torso. He was laid on his side using his legs to push himself away. He was crying bitterly, he was in pain, he was scared and he could feel his consciousness slowly slipping away.

The beast didn't give him a chance to run and was upon him again with the knife stuck on its head. Malakai seeing this quickly moved his arm to push the knife even deeper. "If it has a brain, it should pierce and kil it right?" He thought. His hand was instead caught by the beast's mouth and he shouted in agony. More tears escaping his eyes.

"AARGHH! AAAH! AAAARGHH!" He shouted as the arm he had left was being crushed and then pulled off his body. What used to be a part of him was now in the beast's mouth. Blood spewed everywhere as his arm was disconnected from his body. The chewed on it and lifted its head swallowing his arm in one go.

Malakai could only keep screaming as more blood spilled from his stomach, his left shoulder and now his open shoulder. He couldn't take the pain anymore and his body had eventually given in. He lay passed out on the floor.

The crowd went crazy at the gruesome sight of the young boys blood. Sitting across from the host and his wife, the five masked rulers sat watching the boy suffer.

"I can't, I can't hold it in for much longer." Renjiro spoke through his red coloured mask.

"He's just, he's so.." Brielle couldn't even get her sentences to come out. She had her eyes closed and her chest rising and dropping at fast rates.

"Can you smell that?" Constantine said with a husky voice taking in a deep breath.

"Our Lord will definitely enjoy this." Said Elias.

Shaking in his seat was Roderick, he was moving like he would soon burst on stage, but he was being restricted. "Take these off me! Let me go!" He begged his fellow rulers but they paid no attention to him. They had him chained to his seat so he doesn't go crazy and act out.

"Be patient, Rod." Constantine said to him and focused on the happenings on stage.

"He's almost gone, send in another one." Brielle passed a message to Rasmus who immediately gave a signal to the man in the room with he, Aella and the remaining four whom were tied up and were gagged because of the noise and movement they were making.

They were kept in such a way that they would be able to see the screen and watch what their fate would be.
