Chereads / A Foe For The Devil (TO BE REWRITTEN) / Chapter 19 - They have come

Chapter 19 - They have come

In a room filled with computers on large desks, men and women were carefully tracking a signal. Their fingers moved fast tapping buttons on the keyboards. Others carefully studied the digits which turned into maps, which slowly moved and changed on the screen. The monitors would constantly go blank whenever they are close to getting what they want.

"Try again!" The chief and commander of getting the children back ordered as the monitors went off. There was groaning from his subordinates. Their continuous failure was eating them up. Still, they wouldn't stop. Giving up on the search was not an option to be explored.

Cracking the knuckles and stretching their fingers, they all resumed what they were doing. This time, from the start. While some were working on finding the hiding place of the criminals through the watch that presumably belonged to one of them, others were trying to find the source of the system's continuous jamming. Finding the source and blocking it off was the main priority. Initially, every system was down until the technicians stepped up.

The jammers still were fighting back. But, the highly skilled computer technicians hired by the government weren't giving up until they stop what was occuring. Their action were what was giving the others an edge in finding the kidnappers.

"F*ck this!" One of the technicians seated in his desk yelled and slammed his fist on the desk. He then stood up and stared at his computer. "Levitate keyboard!" He said and out of the physical keyboard, a virtual one rose. "Expand and levitate!" He shouted once more. More virtual keyboards rose around him. He stretcher his fingers and took in a deep breath. He then began typing fast on the keys on the boards that hovered around him while still having eyes on the numerous security codes that flashed on the screen.

Not just him, but others were seriously concentrated on their work.

"I think we have played with them enough, do we take it down now?" Seated behind a large desk filled with numerous computers and a large one in the centre, a man held cup of coffee in his hands. He then proceeded to take a sip from his cup.

The one he asked a question was quite relaxed on a chair on the other side of the room. He was leaned back with his arms folded behind his head and his left leg resting on the right leg.

"We've done enough, take it down," he gave the go ahead. The one with the coffee in hand dropped it on a holder and focused on his computer once more. He punched some keys on his keyboard untill a notification popped up on screen. He read it and clicked 'yes.'

"They will find you soon." The relaxed one sent out a message.

********

"The signal is terminated!" One of the technicians said with an achieving smile.

"That's odd," another thought. A few of his colleagues had the same thought as his. How could the jamming signal suddenly just cut off? It did seem like it was done by them, but it felt rather too easy as if it was left to be terminated. The thought was immediately pushed to the back of their heads. Everyone was now focused on finding out the criminals base.

Locked onto the screens of their computers they tracked down the abductors to one of the destroyed areas that humanity had left bare. It barely had any life surviving on them if not few microorganisms. The land was extremely toxic. In an old, rotting warehouse was where they found the signal to be found.

"We've got them!" They exclaimed.

Looking away from the systems, the chief immediately sent a transmission through the watch in his hands. "We've found their hideout. I need every man out there now, send in choppers. We don't know the kind of people we're dealing with, so hurry up and carefully examine the situation before acting. I'm on my way with a supernatural just in case. Their coordinates are being sent to you. Everyone move now!" He ordered.

"Roger that," a woman replied on getting the message. The message was sent to the crime agencies in the city closest to the bare land, which was one of the Verill cities.

Fast moving submarines were already on the move, choppers as well. Everyone moved in fast, yet stealthy manner. The criminals must not be given a chance to escape.

********

"They're on the move. Make sure everything is done smoothly. Don't hold back on the attacks, say as you have been told to say, act like you have been told to act. If there is even the slightest slip up, you will be sorry." Aella spoke to the men with the cloned children through a holographic message.

"Understood," they replied and the transmission ended.

"Just to make sure they do it properly.." Aella spoke and brought up a live camera footage of what was going on in the warehouse. With her, as always, was Rasmus. "This should be fun." She smiled.

********

"We have to follow the instructions carefully or we'll have to deal with that duo. That would be worse than death itself." One of the men in the warehouse spoke to the others. He looked to be in charge of making everything run smoothly. He had short dark hair and a twirly moustache.

An alarm then blared inside the warehouse. It was an alert for when the police and other crime chasers would show up. "It's showtime," he said.

********

"Surround the area, we don't want them escaping." The head of the mission passed on a message to the others.

"Roger that," they replied.

Drones flew about the warehouse and into it through the cracks and parts of the fallen roof. It showed whom and what were in inside the dead building.

"Confirmed sir, there are children in there and they are guarded by the men we believe to be behind this." After watching the video projected by the drone's camera, a woman sat inside of the submarine said looking at a screen.

********

The men had gathered the children into hover cars, knowing fully well the drones were watching their every move. The sounds of the police siren blaring could be heard from inside.

"Gosh, those things are annoying." One of them mumbled.

"We have you surrounded, and outnumbered. There is no way to escape and fighting back will be futile. Surrender now!" One of the police yelled through a sound enhancing device.

The man with a twirly moustache turned to the drone with a smile and placed a blaster at one of the children's head. "Why don't we just pretend you never found us and return to our daily activities?"
