Chapter 137 - Mysterious Place

Gilgamesh's voice penetrated the depths of the darkness, displaying his authority as a monarch, causing the roots to suddenly cease their advance. An incredibly sinister aura was unleashed as a dark figure with chains crawled out from the distance.

"You are in my palace, there's no need for such a dominant tone in your questions!" A whispered voice emanated from the darkness as Gilgamesh remained aloft, his expression unchanged.

"It's not that I require those kinds of answers from you; I'll get the answers I seek when I want them," Gilgamesh stated, locking eyes with the adversary. After a few seconds, he continued, "The world is very small. I never thought that purely by coincidence, I'd encounter an error made by the God I'm searching for."

This time, Gilgamesh drew one of his most destructive swords, the Sword of Desolation. This sword harnessed sheer brute force with gravity augmented according to the weight of the impacts. With a simple wave of the sword, it destroyed several kilometers around, annihilating everything in its path without hesitation.

Gilgamesh appeared right in front of the figure, and with a single strike, it seemed as if the sky tortured the earth, shattering everything in its path. The dark figure with chains struggled to defend itself, to no avail.

Taking control of the battle, Gilgamesh moved his Enkidu chains, which ensnared his target. Trapped in a prison that seemed to bind even gods, the figure desperately attempted to escape Gilgamesh's clutches.

"It's too late, wretched thing. If you wish to attain immortality, at least do a decent job and do not bring suffering to the world that is forced to witness your death," Gilgamesh declared. He pointed his left hand, which held a golden sword, and a powerful beam ravaged his enemy.

Boom!

With a single motion of his hand, Gilgamesh's armor gleamed impressively. The black figure, who had lived for thousands of years, began to scream unpleasantly as it struggled to resist the attack.

For anyone who dared oppose Gilgamesh, only a painful death filled with brutality awaited them.

"No!" The black spirit roared, desperately wishing to escape and never to have crossed paths with such a powerful being as Gilgamesh. But it had no chance. As a human who had once achieved enviable heights in magic, life had pushed it to commit inhumane acts to extend its existence by hundreds of years, but this had taken away its humanity.

Under the attack and judgment of Gilgamesh, how could a mere human who sought to emulate the gods through dark means withstand the onslaught?

Oom!

With a muffled explosion, the black spirit's body slowly disappeared. Under Gilgamesh's attack, his enemy turned into nothing more than dust.

The sword Gilgamesh had used was incredibly powerful, capable of even piercing the heart of a powerful god with formidable defensive techniques. Regardless of any magical shield or defensive object, this sword would always target the heart of the enemy, seeking a swift death.

Gilgamesh's swords were obtained from messengers of the gods who had come to take his life. This is one of the reasons he possessed such formidable swords and enviable magical items. All the treasures of his slain enemies and allies ended up in his Gate of Babylon, including the giant's lance that he had eliminated moments ago.

"I would have never thought that people from other worlds could be summoned. Believing that it's logical makes me think that somehow there are methods to travel between worlds. But even to consider that means one must have greater authority than a god, something I don't wish to possess right now."

Gilgamesh looked at Eris and Roxy approaching in their Vimana and said, "It seems that everything is over. This creature was about to do something truly horrific."

Eris, who was looking at Gilgamesh without the upper part of her armor, asked, "What kind of aberration was that?"

"A corrupted spirit. They are the humans who summon themselves as Spirits and somehow manage to live longer than their race allows," Roxy said, wiping the blood from her face. "I read something related to this in the School of Magic. Some people even summon beings from other worlds to take over their bodies."

"That's exactly what this thing was attempting," Gilgamesh smiled and pointed, "Its signature for living longer involved a sacrificial ritual. It killed hundreds of people and used that to extend its life. Certainly disgusting, but it's what kept it alive until now."

"Let's clean up, then we'll investigate what's left of this place," Gilgamesh surveyed the surroundings before heading to a deep water well.

Covered in blood, their scent was far from pleasant. Although they had unlocked their hidden abilities, Roxy and Eris had been inexperienced at first but ultimately became formidable.

When they reached a seemingly calm place, they all entered the water. Feeling its chilling temperature, Gilgamesh found it helpful in clearing his mind.

He believed that the battle from a moment ago had been too intense, but he could see in the eyes of Eris and Roxy a brutality that would mold their personalities, enabling them to protect themselves. Roxy's staff wasn't just for magic; it also had a sword hovering on its side, serving as a secondary weapon for her, given that her physical strength was now well above average. She had become faster, stronger, and her magic was incredibly powerful.

As for Eris, her flexible and lightweight full-body armor, with the exception of her right hand and some exposed areas, was the perfect protection for her. It was only through combat that they would truly understand the brutality of war, something that could only be learned by fighting and was incredibly precious.
